Skating on natural ice. Deep in the woods there is a little lake that freezes early. Until snow comes Nordic ice skating is a really nice activity!

The skates can be used with common ski bindings (Rottefella NNN) and ski boots. Very practical as you can walk far in the boots to find good ice. Skates are long to run smoother over uneven surfaces and long distances. The type is very common and popular in Sweden, hence the name 'Nordic ice skates'. The Swedish name is 'långfärdsskridsko' and means 'Long trip skate'.

Indah sekali. Saya belum pernah melihat seperti ini. Di negara saya tidak ada salju apalagi danau sampai membeku. Di kota saya Kefamenanu suhu paling dingin 25 derajat Celcius dan kami merasa sangat kedinginan. Salam dari Kefamenanu-Timor-Indonesia.

Where i grew up in , yes, New Jersey there was a lake in the woods that I lived very close to which would freeze as smooth as glass at least once each winter. Skating on a foggy morning on that lake is as close to heaven as I've ever been. Seeing this released a flood of memories of those serene days. Thanks!!

I grew up in texas so i’ve never seen much snow. But I can imagine heaven, if it exists, is just being alone on a never-ending frozen lake. In fact, I have severe anxiety and one of the exercises I do when I feel it creep up is visualization, and usually visualize myself doing something like this. The idea of the cold, the quiet, the pristine ice is just so soothing to me. Someday I will go somewhere cold and try it. Except I’m Argentinian so maybe I’ll enjoy a nice mate 🧉 instead of coffee haha

For this Aussie - this movie is a total blast - no such thing as ice skating in the wild in Australia. That particular landscape is super fascinating to me and any time you want to share a movie about it I will be watching avidly. I shared this on FB for my Aussie friends.

I love the whole atmosphere with the freezing fog and muted sounds. And oh, my Nordic skiing Merrel boots with their NNN BC bindings would make a great skate boot. The skates look like escapees from my VoTech machine tool shop when I was a teen.

This is half anxiety inducing (because ice could break and you could die) but also very calming. I swear I could listen to that sound of skates all day.

@@Snekysnitch yes, I should have clarified, it’s my irrational fear that the ice could break and you could die. And you never know, there could be a thin spot somewhere. Idk how ice works so it’s just a bit scary.

))) Можно кататься с шестом длинной в метра 2-3 , держа его поперек тела. Если провалишься, шест не даст тебе уйти под лед. И пара гвоздей связанных веревкой.

We do this here in Canada whenever conditions allow but we use hockey skates. They don’t sell those kind of skates here. I’d like to try them out. Very cool

no canadians in the ice (in germany are the grooves). the ice is mirror smooth. that's definitely fun. in my broad grad (wide degree 51.5446857 length grad 6.8280844) there is something like that not . It's not that cold here either. Have fun from Germany

Я из Белоруссии и у меня примерно же такое озеро в лесу. Мы с сыном любим там кататься особенно по первому льду он как стело и без снега. Это просто супер наслаждение когда часами катаешься и не чувствуешь усталости. Мы катаемсь изредка перекидываясь фразами, а так только тишина и звук режущего коньком льда.

I used to do this but with hockey skates, those are nice skates. I grew up on one lake I could go through the woods or through a swamp and go to a different lakes, it was always the swampy parts that were dangerous, I fell through in the deep too always got out.

When i was little we used to ice scate every year on a big lake 2km away from our home here in the Netherlands. Now with global warming we havnt gotten any scatable ice for over 15 years now, its something i miss dearly.

:) Hi Erik. Yeah, this was perfection. The sound of the blades crunching, skritching and scraping across the ice . . . so crisp and clear in my ears. The grey mist of the morning, the echo of the raven; I really liked the way you showed off the skate blades. Sitting on the log with coffee, inhaling deeply; I could feel the fresh cold air in my lungs. I imagine it was quiet enough to hear the ice pop and groan. You have such a strong talent for this. Qué fotografía más bonita !!. Erik es usted todo un deportista, por esa forma de patinar. Pero es peligroso patinar en un río helado, si se rompe la corteza de hielo, uno puede sumergirse en el agua y ser arrastrado por dentro por la corriente, y morir ahogado.
