Today we chekc out Jotunnslayer Hordes of Hel, a Horde Survivor like Vampire Survivors but with a Nordic theme slapped on it - and boy does it slap. We start out with the Berserker and enter into a mindblowingly beautiful world, except that everything in this world wants to kill us. So what better way to respond than using the power of Thor, the God of Thunder, and drowning the enemies in lightning strikes.

So i played this game a lot and what i would reccomend is golden disks on freya, also exp increase with her. Berserker skills are also amazing with increased crit chance then get the skill to crit health back. At a certain point take troll scion to double healing. Thor was a fairly weak god so i wouldnt full focus him he just has a few good passives.

Rather than Vampire Survivors, this seems almost like an exact copy of Halls of Torment except with better graphics.

If there's one thing that bothers me about a Nordic Mythology inspired games, it's when their Thor has blonde hair instead of red, as he normally does in the mythology. So seeing this one do the same is kinda bothersome. But beyond that, that's like the one gripe I have with it.

Looks cool. I do wish for some additional mythologies to be explored in videogames though. All we ever get is Norse or Greek. Sometimes Japanese. Chinese now as well?

True, This is a genre where you could easily implement multiple mythologies like norse, indian, Greek, Egyptian, German, Chinese, Japan etc. Sure alot will have some kind of the same skills but still could be awesome.

1:14 Unreal Engine 5? It did have a sudden frame freeze at 1:19 which is apparantly an issue in UE5 when it's loading stuff.

16:36 "usually you need to learn these games...." no you dont. you have been playing this exact game for years. bullethell or whatever you want to call it. the same effects, the same weapons, the same mechanics. you know this game. it just calls things differently, makes them look differently, tweaks numbers a little. bro, survivors, blabla.. all the same.. but i still watch you.. my life is sad...

What I mean is not dying/losing. The framework of these games is the same, but I didn't say I will have issues understanding the game, the issue I am referring to is e.g. not knowing what waves spawn, what to prepare for, what is even available in the game and having no unlocks. Think of Brotato. No matter how good you are at Horde Survivors, if you don't know that wave 7 spawns the balls that hatch into very difficult enemies, then it's very likely you may get overwhelmed and lose. But now that you know it you can prepare for that, hunt them out or make it easier by increasing damage to make sure normal enemies don't hold you up. Same thing here, going blindly into that means I don't know what the events do, what enemies spawn, what bosses spawn and also when and what the bonuses from the gods are.

@@DexTag i didnt mean it in a bad way.. i was just being a bit cynical ;-) after all i found your channel through vampire survivors, way back when.. and i do know that this type of game is your daily bread and butter 🙂 maybe this one just feels so similar to others you played before.. and of course your experience with these games gives you an advantage when playing a new one.. maybe i should criticize the game, here.. instead of putting it on you.. except for the graphics (which are actually really nice) it doesnt seem to offer anything new.. kepp going, mate! i will be here watching.. and being sarcastic occasionaly 😛

Looks really good but doesn't look it has deep enough mechanics to make it interesting to watch. I don't think a simple 'number go brrrrt' is interesting because there are no negative choices when upgrading. Only good ones and better ones. Quite unlike in Brotato, for example, where a single wrong purchase can cripple your build due to compounding negative effects and relatively complex interactions between the upgrades and stats. In essence, the only good thing about this game is that it looks gorgeous, but that's not enough to hold interest in watching it. Sure, Dungeon Clawler doesn't have (barely any) negative upgrades either, but that is interesting due to how ridiculously broken builds it is possible to make along with exploiting the physics. This doesn't appear to have either and is just lukewarm and perfectly balanced (for real, not in Spiffing Brit sarcastic way) gameplay to make you feel powerful. Might be good to play, but not to watch videos about.

@@sheesh742 Please, learn some reading comprehension. I never said or implied that a demo would be exactly what you'd get in a full product. I never even spoke specifically about the demo. I was talking about the game as a whole and what impression I've gotten from it. There are countless of games on this genre and the vast majority of them are all shallow, 'numbers go brrrt' upgrade-fests. Besides, even if I was talking only about this demo, your comment wouldn't still make any sense. Because if your game has actual depth into it, why would you want to make a demo that shows it in worst and most shallow light possible? Wouldn't it be better to give taste of how deep the mechanics go to make you grave for more? So yeah, dude... _Obviously_ you don't have any idea what you're talking about.
