Very nice! How does this compare to the real deal Mostortion - I believe you own one (or did you sell it??) ✌🏻

Wow this is a killer pedal! I actually like that a lot more than my "Klön clone" pedal! The dynamics have a crisp quality that I really like. Oh and that guitar is sharp too! 🤘

I dig that compression lift knob! It sounds good, how do you like that St James cab?

So what is the difference gain wise between this model and the ODR CS?

Totally different circuits. Both are capable of the full range of gains. I'd say the mos has a higher gain "feel" to it

Is this pedal brighter than the odr?

Depends how it's dialed in. I'd say it's got more touch sensitivity and compression that could sound more sizzly

why do they say 'Nashville'? It all just sounds like AC/DC or generic, shit 80s 'hair metal' tones to me?

It’s just a euphemism for a pedal that session players like to have in their arsenal, usually because it finds a space in a band mix and therefore engineers like the resulting tone. Need a slightly sizzly lead or rhythm tone to peep through? Stick this pedal on it. And Nashville is the current high water mark mecca session players in the way that LA was for the previous gen. So calling anything ‘Nashville’ is gonna get you some interest from us musos. The pedal makers are also looking for any Nashville session player faves, so we’ve had a bunch of Nobels and Maxon clones, and now this. As Steve says, the new ones are made better and tend to have more features, albeit often at a price. Watch out for Xotic RC Booster “Nashville boost”clones…

@@onenotesolo256 it's just when I hear 'Nashville' I think 'countryish' which alludes to clean or 'transparent' tone or even 'organic' tones NOT another 'hi gain' shred or 'doom' pedal! This just sounds like a HiGain style pedal to me, and I'm expecting the Nordland stuff to be more along the 'post-Klon' style.

@@ShlomirBareketso to understand why this is referring to "Nashville" so much, you have to understand that they're referring to the specific gear used by the mainstay session guitar players in 21st century country. So, Tom Bukovac, Guthrie Trapp, Brent Mason, even guys like Brad Paisley and Keith Urban although the last two are known for having their own thing to an extent. Really, Tom Bukovac is probably the one who most influenced the gear that became popular, and he in particular was a big part of the nobels odr1 becoming THE overdrive pedal everyone had to have to get the sound that Nashville has been known for in the last two decades. The man who designed the odr1 circuit is the creator of Nordland and has what he feels is a refined and improved continuation of the circuit in the Nordland odrc. While the odr1 is the overdrive most typically associated with the sound of Nashville, on Nashville pedal boards it is typically seen frequently paired with an even rarer pedal that got doomed due to poor marketing decisions: the Ibanez Mostortion. The pedal in this video is Nordalnds take on this circuit, which is interesting because due to the design of the original circuit, it has been pretty hard to make clones of it since there is at least one chipset necessary for the pedal to behave the way it does that has been very difficult to source. The reason the mostortion and odr1 are so frequently paired together in Nashville is because they both cover each other's bases and complement each other really well. The odr1 has a very unique eq curve because of its unique "spectrum" control in place of a traditional tone control that actually boosts and cuts different frequencies depending on the setting, there's nothing else really like it. Additionally, it is known for behaving very much like a tube amp does in response to dynamics, picking sensitivity, and saturation, so it absolutely is incredible and the number one choice in the Nashville studio industry for that "transparent" type of thing you were talking about. The mostortion name makes it sound like it would be some ripping distortion like a ratt or ds1, but in actuality it's really more of a low to medium gain overdrive with a three band eq and relatively even frequency curve in practice, kinda like if you took the mid hump out of a screamer, bumped the gain MAYBE A LITTLE, and added a three band eq. The mostortion is fantastic for pushing an amp further as well as dialing in a more specific and targeted drive sound that works great when layered in multitracks, although it cleans up well too. Basically, you use the odr1 as the basis of your tone, generally into a fender, although Bukovac uses Marshalls famously, and the mostortion can be dialed in to get you those big rhythm guitar sounds that you hear all over everything from Blake Shelton to Aldean to whatever you can think of for country in the 21st century. Nordland making their own take on the mostortion could be seen as both an acknowledgement to the most frequent pairing as well as a thank you to the Nashville session community for popularizing their signature design. Like, "we appreciate how much you guys love our odr1, and we know you like to pair it with mostortions. Since those are so hard to find, we thought we'd try to make our own version for y'all so you can get both from the same place." If you see someone with a 90s odr1 on their board, it is almost always seen right next to an Ibanez mostortion. Think Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, salt and pepper. Now, if you want to get into the discussion about why these sounds and these pedals are so associated with "Nashville," that's more to do with the modern country radio sound coming out of Nashville than anything. Kinda like how you could say "Seattle sound" in reference to the tones used by grunge bands in the 90s. The Nashville sound is important cause it marked the big modern departure from the more traditional country sounds that favoured chicken picking, honky tonk, sparkly cleans, slap back delay, etc. The modern country sound actually ironically has a lot in common with classic rock staples. Gibsons with humbuckers, Marshall amps, higher gain, thicker sounding leads. It was almost always telecasters being used, but Tom Bukovac being Tom Bukovac started using 335s and SGs with the old Marshalls instead of teles and fender Bassman amps. So his sound became one of the more in demand templates for artists, and you basically had two styles of players using the same gear: Brent Mason style tele guys, and 335 and Marshall Buk guys. The odr1 is awesome for the Mason stuff, and while Bukovac probably uses the odr1 the most too, the mostortion can be fantastic for getting you close without switching guitars

@@ShlomirBareketapologies for the essay lol. Just thought I'd be the big paragraph gal and drop all the info cause I used to wonder the same thing. Also, I'm not really a country musician, but I find I tend to love the gear that those session players favor
