When David Albee discovered he’d won a million dollars in Virginia’s New Year’s Millionaire Raffle, there was no yelling or jumping up and down.
“I’m not a guy who gets excited,” the Norfolk man said. “My wife was more excited than me. I was in disbelief.”
His ticket, #228447, was one of three tickets drawn in the January 1 drawing for the $1 million prize.
He bought the winning ticket at the 7-Eleven at 6900 North Military Highway in Norfolk. On January 5, he returned to the store to receive his million-dollar check from Virginia Lottery Executive Director Paula Otto. The store received a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
