Built on the land of the historic Victoria Furnace in Goshen, Virginia, we are proud to highlight the new Victoria Station site that will be homebase for the 611 and "The Shenandoah Valley Limited" fall excursions hosted by the Virginia Scenic Railway and the Virginia Museum of Transportation.
This project has been ongoing for several months and has included land grading, access roads being constructed, brand new switch/siding for the 611 and excursion train, and much more!
The Shenandoah Valley Limited will depart Victoria Station at 9:00 AM and 2:30 PM on the following weekends:
October 6 - 8, 2023
October 13 - 15, 2023
October 20 - 22, 2023
October 27-29, 2023
November 3 - 5, 2023

Well done , a new home for my favorite steam locomotive . Please build a shed for her to stay the winter . This operation sure beats the fate of other stuffed and mounted steam survivors....

Iam amazed we didn't hear much about until it was time to purchase tickets, I went four times,this is the event of the century so far, my option. It was so surreal standing in Belle Valley, watching 611 pulling the grade at speed running a clean stack, on jointed rail track.

You will never make me believe that all this work and money has been spent to run the fall excursions and no more. I would like to think that the SVSR and VMT have a long term agreement with financial support to keep the excursions going for some time to come as long as NS agrees to get the 611 back and forth from Waynesboro to Roanoke

maybe NS can figure out that 611 can do a ferry move WITHOUT a diesel.

I’ve wanted a visual of the Victoria Station for these excursions. Thanks for doing this! Seems like this isn’t temporary, meaning the possibility for future 611 excursions on these tracks. Given how successful these trips are so far I’d bet they’ll be back again.

So on Google Earth I see what looks to be an active (if lightly-used) branch running to a pair of industries on the south side of town. Did... you rip that track up and re-lay it? I mean, I see the field where the grading was done; I see the red house shown at 1:34. The site appears to be hemmed in by a ridge on the west and the Calfpasture River to the east. So... I can only assume you're reusing the old ROW. Do those businesses no longer receive cars?
