Some old memories from an old 76 year … I got into rollers when I was in the 4 th grade… I lived in Artesia, Ca. And was lucky enough to know a young man named Harm Bothenger… He had a lot of Bill Pensome’s birds … I got lucky and ran across another older gentleman from Compton named Ralph Bellamy who also had many of the Pensome strain of rollers… well I got my hands on several good rollers … as I got older I met a Bill Hague who lived in El Monte who like flying rollers… He had gone to Birmingham England and acquired his strain of rollers … well I asked my dad to take me up to Bill Pensome’s … well I developed my own strain of rollers … I crossed some white grizzles with reds , blue checks, blue barred, silver red badged … I hand picked my birds … they were exceptional … Well I flew my birds until 1967 when I got drafted … I gave my entire loft of rollers to a close friend. I’ve just listened to this guy … his philosophy is the same I acquired from Bill Pensome …

Norm lives thru the videos. I went up with homer few years back and record him again. Norm was a true master breeder and flyer. I put 1-2 videos together. Great all norm x homer, Catch them in action.
Thank you Alvaro - Really appreciate your video on some of the history of these wonderful birds. Did not know they were houghtons before this. So houghton - reed- higgins -? Where did the jaconettes come in? interesting that he said black was soft feathered. I always thought black was a spread blue check.
