These comments suck. This is a legendary song in the scene, and if Norma Jean doesn't keep it alive, who will? It's not a gimmick. Y'all act like this is the first band in history to have no original members and still play their old music.
I was fortunate enough to see Luti-Kriss/Norma Jean in 2001 right after they announced their name change. Such an amazing show. It took me a while to warm up to any album after Bless the Martry. But I think now they have their own sound.
Oh come on, this version is pretty cool. Would y'all really wanna see Norma Jean and not have them close with Memphis? I actually mostly really appreciate the new members additiona to the instrumentals here for the most part. I think the ending should stay a bit closer to the original, its not quite as savage this way, but it was still good.
I don't agree with the hate this song is getting on the thread, but I also don't agree with this statement. Bless the Martyr is a landmark album. Everything with Corey is good, but never raised to that level. Either way agree to disagree. Thank you for commenting.
@Fullcollapse1 Redeemer is so melodic, heavy and chaotic at the same time, I love that album, I couldn't pick a favorite album though because they all have something special about them, they always find unique ways to make heavy parts or unique melodies with crazy ass riffs, they are just so good at staying fresh.
Why are people so fuckin negative? They still write great ass songs without writing the same song over and over again. They are talented asf, Grayson did a fuckin phenomenal job writing a lot of the guitar work for DRSFM and All Hail, and they all the members before writing for Polar Similar, Wrongdoers, Meridional, Anti Mother, Redeemer, Oh God, the Aftermath were all great albums. Just because you only listened to Bless The Martyr, Kiss the Child does not mean it's the best album they have. Cory been in Norma Jean much longer than Josh, and no hate on him but Norma Jean is definitely Cory's band, he earned that spot. They don't have to play that song but they chose to, to make people like you happy so yall can hear yalls favorite song. Only for people to hate on the fact that they played the song everyone wants to hear. Cory even says every time they play it "we will always pay tribute to what started Norma Jean!". And honestly sometimes I wanna hear them end the set with Anna, or Heartache, maybe even a full Sun Dies, Blood Moon, Innocent Bystanders United, There Will Be a Swarm of Hornets, idk, there's so many great songs that are over looked because the band isn't the same members.
LOL. Bro, I haven't listened to Norma Jean since highschool and I had no idea there weren't any original members left. Had to google that shit after reading your comment.
