A few miles from New York and Vermont, nestled in the heart of the Berkshire Mountains lies the college town of North Adams, Massachusetts. The historic feel mixed with the backdrop of rolling green mountains make North Adams one of the prettiest towns in Massachusetts. One of the major towns in western Massachusetts, home to great small businesses, a thriving artist community and the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA). Enjoy this quiet, relaxing ride through scenic North Adams, Massachusetts in the heart of the Berkshire Mountains.
Typically synonymous with Boston, Massachusetts holds some wonderful beauty inland away from Cape Cod, Boston, and Martha's Vineyard. Enjoy the subtle yet elegant beauty that very few get to see unless you're from western mass. Visiting in the fall, the Berkshires showcase their greatest fall foliage beauty. Next time drive the length of Massachusetts Avenue. Many homes built in the 1800’s, and you will go through the Blackington area.

I lived in North Adams from 1976 to 1992. I loved it out there. Miss the Mountains, people and the snow!!!! 😢

It is such a cool little town. About once a season I take a 2 hour ride down the Mohawk trail to see it and visit. The berkshire backdrop makes it so idyllic!

Wow what a beautiful town!! I visited about 5 years ago and it still gives me such a warm, small town feeling. I love it. Def a lot of pot holes, unfortunately but hopefully someday they will get some revenue to fix it up. It would make an amazing tourist town if they can keep the charm. Thanks!

I have a love for this town too! It's about 2 hrs from my house but love it enough to have done a driving video here twice. Unfortunately Massachusetts won't be winning any awards for best roads any time soon lol

I dont understand where everyone is. Usually theres people outside walking around more.... Also its wierd how it looks so clean. Ive lived here 30 years.... Its NOT this clean.theres parifanilia everywhere and just trash... Does have some nice sides to it. The color on video makes it look nicer than it is though. I appreciate the video ❤

I appreciate the kind words! It is certainly a town divided between two sides - this day was relatively cold I think that's why there weren't a bunch of people outside. I was hoping for a little more life when I went through

Neither actually. The camera makes it look a little faster than it is. Because I have cameras set up, I try to make an extra effort to go the speeds I'm supposed to lol

Anybody know why I small rural town like this is one of the most dangerous places in Massachusetts?

Generally speaking a lot of these bigger small towns used to have major factories that helped the towns thrive. When the factories shut down and manufacturing went overseas the towns were left without much in terms of gainful employment. They typically became poorer and generally that means more crimes and issues come in. Not 100% the reasons I'm sure but it is a common theme between a lot of these towns

@@brirashrn5445 no it is a very safe town. Dangerous is the wrong for it. It has more issues with substance abuse type "crime" more than serious dangerous crime

@@MileMarker4k Nope and it's an unemployment haven...there's barely anywhere to work there. I had to move, it was beautiful but miserable living there.

@@BRYANY24 Unfortunately you're right. So many of these "big" towns in Massachusetts thrived when the factories were open but as they closed down the towns never fully recovered.

Your filming is smooth. But it is annoying that it looks like you are speeding. But you do explain below why that is, thank you. Nonetheless, why not go 5 mph less than the speed limit? In any case, you are missing a great opportunity here. You should provide both a current and historic narrative description of what you are passing. Get off the main road occasionally. It would be much more interesting, educational and inspiring for folks to subscribe and share. That is what you want, isn't it? You can research and dub over the film after you do the filming so you are not distracted. If your voice is not pleasant sounding or can not enunciate words clearly, find a friend who can attract and maintain an audience. (Just not with a Boston accent.) All or the New England towns are rich with history of pre and post Colonial America. People, particularly kids need to learn our anthropological, social, political, and economic history. They will not learn it in school. In this 24 minute clip, you passed landmarks and other areas that have significance but like most things in life, will go not only unseen but never understood or appreciated.

I appreciate your feedback, but that is not the main focus of what I look to do with my videos. The places I travel are the character not me, someone's voice or music which I try to express in my descriptions.
