I had a chance to pass by the newly opened Tandoori Flame Buffet Restaurant on their grand opening week for dinner. Great experience: large array of dishes made fresh with quality ingredients.

I tried the buffet finally. I think it was good to try what you normally would not order at a restaurant. However, the quality was not as good as nearby Indian restaurants and their dessert selection was kind of weak with western options of cakes and ice cream flavours. They could have offered more Indian options. I stopped by on a weekday lunch. Great video!

balmyzzz thanks for the kind and helpful comment... I'll pin this as I'm seeing similar comments from others. The weekend dinners are pretty good but still going through growing pains (waiting for beverages, settling bills,etc). Thanks again 🙂

The western options weren't the only ones that sucked, samosas were tiny with paste no actual veggies and super hot , my table was 50% Indian and we had unanimous opinion. Also they had as a dessert what's called parshad they named it something else its essentially thick dish (the one you get at the Sikh Temples next to the offering box ot can be semolina fried on butter and sugar or flour in butter and sugar, half my table thought it was idiotic as no person thinks of that as dessert. Essentially they are not authentic, have low class low priced poorly made dishes even the lunch on a weekend is $25 +tax per person . For $60 you can buy a better quality indian meal at Mahak, or Mirch Masala at 95th and Scott road, or a high quality Chinese meal in a classy setting at ChongQing across from Superstore .

Tim Lee no I haven’t but I been to Vegas some of the best buffets in North America and even on seafood nights I don’t think it’s the best food quality. But am I complaining. 😂

That looks absolutely stunning. I live in UK london, in a very Indian area, there is nothing like this here. The selection and quality I could tell was very high, excellent looking Punjabi cuisine. Hope you enjoyed it.

Alex thanks for the comments. It's kinda the same here until this place came around. There must be some pretty nice buffet restaurants in your part of the London area 🙂. Any favorites?

Tim Lee there is a lack of quality buffets in London tbh, they are not popular it seems here., mostly very cheap Chinese food buffets of low quality. The best one I went to was Harrods. The restaurant lunch buffet, was £35 a head for gourmet buffet, 5* food, hot and cold. Since it was sold, they stopped it. We do have some nice Argentinian/Brazilian buffets, the ones where they bring meat to carve at the table.

Alex ashame that Harrods is sold. I've never been to London, but always wanted to visit. Hopefully one day... The company I work for has a London office so maybe soon🙂.

I finally tried this a year later. Thanks for your video. I liked the place, but a lot of this is because of the ability to try so many things at the buffet, when you might only try a few at a regular dinner, There are many more items than other Indian buffets in Vancouver that I've tried. I really liked the chicken biryani (they had both halal and non-halal I think). I also finally understood the appeal of halwa and jalebi, especially because I have never had jalebi freshly made before. The dessert station was not lacking for me. I enjoyed the pani puri, and the make your own chutney with the mortar and pestle. I know you might get better flavours with an a la carte menu somewhere else, but this was really fun and totally worth it for me. About $25 for Sunday lunch.

Hello Squish, hope you're doing well and glad to hear you got a chance to try many of the food offerings. This is really a great place as it can cater to anyone in a group, from vegetarians, vegans, and others. I agree, it's quite good value... (I never tried the make your own chutney -- perhaps next time :-))

Awesome! Next time I head down to Vancouver I’ll definitely be heading to this buffet! It just opened?! Goodness that looks SO GOOD! I guess I’ll be making some butter chicken and naan from scratch up north here tomorrow night for dinner. Some saag paneer too. Yum!!!

Yes, it just opened a few months ago... quite nice but for some reason, Indian food is so filling! Very nice and very different from the western buffets 🙂...much more filling! Wow! You cook too? Sounds like you're quite well versed in Indian cooking!😋

I think my problem is that I just LOVE food! If loving food can be a problem! Hahah I love the connection it can bring with other people. The way really good food, made well, can feel healing to make and also like it’s a tangible form of love this is universally accepted. Years of food network watching and also just researching and wanting to know how and why and what makes the best food. I worked as a Baker for a summer at Cobs in Kitsilano. I opened my own cupcake and cake business. I used food grade essential oils to flavour my cakes and cupcakes. I still do. I lived in England for 3 years and there’s a lot of Indian food there. I didn’t really know how truly good it was until I met some actual Indian people who’s moms let me invade their kitchens. lol I think the only reason I wouldn’t want to be a chef is because it’s seriously hard work. Long hours on one’s feet. And I love feeding my family. So it’s just so much fun to feed them here at home. Oh and Indian food is just so filling because it’s so full of love and the best ingredients!

@@singingallalone loving food too much is definitely not a problem imho... really believe that building great friendships and teams involve eating together 🙂. Wow, I certainly have visited that Cobs location many times...but years ago. Loved the cheese loaf! You are quite talented in many areas! I totally agree that Indian food is filling due to the love and attention put in making it, but I suspect all that ghee might be a cause too😉

Wow, Tim! That is definitely the largest Indian buffet I’ve seen. Love carrot halwa, but surprised not to see kheer (rice pudding) unless you just didn’t happen to video it. Great video review as always!

Rick Jansson thanks and greatly appreciate the kind comment. I did see kheer available during a subsequent visit...they change up the dishes quite often... I was surprised not to find pakora during the initial visit, but I think they've come to their senses since 😋

I live in Tokyo, but I am heading back to Toronto this summer with my daughter, and if I win (fingers crossed!!) Hey Tim, when you visit Jersey City, you will find diverse ethnic buffets and restaurants in Newark Ave, lots of Chinese and Filipino Restaurants around that area...also there is Flaming Grill Buffet in East Rutherford and South Plainfield, New Jersey...lots of selection, I missed it sometime now that I live in Vegas.

Tim great video it reminds me of a restaurant in Chicago called the Indian House and they have a great Indian buffet too. I live in Forest Park IL but when every I'm in Chicago I will have lunch or dinner with friends and we will have lunch at the Indian House sometimes. I love Indian food especially all the foods that you showed in your video.

I have been to many Indian buffets in California and they had a greater selection of entrees, including tandoori chicken, curries, sambar, idli, paneer, etc. This seems to be limited, or maybe you skipped over some. We had a crazy cranberry pistachio naan in Berkeley.

Hi Foodie Queen, thank you so much. Are you from Surrey as well? at the time of this video, I was using my cell phone to film. It's a pixel cell phone. Now I've changed to the DJI osmo pocket. Similar quality, but a lot smaller 🙂. By the way, you leave a great channel! Lots of food food...I wish I understood the language 😀

LOVE this video sooo good , thank you Tim - i live in Queens NYC we have a large Indian , Bengali and Pakistani representation here BUT unfortunately very poor quality buffets of this type of food - we do have great restaurants ( actually the cheapest ones where the people from these countries eat are the best !! ) ... to have something like Tandoori Flame will be a dream come through

Hi Joseph! LoL -- you're very observant and good on you! I don't normally eat like I do in the videos :-) Yes, I started on the diet about 4-5 years ago and literally a life-changing gem of knowledge... I definitely get kicked out of ketosis after these meals but do recover after some time. How long have you been on the diet and if you don't mind me asking, what made you start? For me, it was my desperate search of a remedy for high blood sugar levels -- but all good now. Keep it up and all my support to you! Take care!

Tim Lee Hi Tim. No particular health reason other than to lose some weight. Keto seems to make sense substituting carbs and sugar for natural fat. Our bodies have been reconditioned for processed foods. Wanted to get back to when humans was eating what nature provides us. It’s simply a choice and I don’t see Keto as a diet. So like you and others, we do have a cheat day every once in a while, For me it’s just treating myself out for a meal. Keto really diverts you make your own food and thus eat healthier. Good to hear we have another Keto follower.

@@josephlim8941 great to hear and hope it's going well ..it's scary fast how quickly the weight and fat can drop...one thing that really helped me was not being afraid to eat lots of saturated fats found in pork belly, brisket, prime rib... hollandaise sauce was a real gem as well🙂

Hi SimpleLife D, we just went there for a team lunch and it was very reasonably priced! We were adults and it was about $16-$17 during lunch time -- I believe the dinner is around $20 during the week day. It's quite a nice way to eat together as everyone is quite happy going back to try new stuff. It was okay. The nan and dosa was really good, but most of the meat product was mainly sauce. If you're not into spicy food, I don't recommend this place. Other than that I would rate it 3.5 out of 5

Not necessarily true. I have lots of Indian friends who cook for me and their curry dishes are always full of meat and vegetables. Curry sauce is suppose to coat and flavour the dish, not dominate it to the point of making it soupy. @@SquidandCatAdventures

By the look of the customers, this place is most likely vegetarian. There is probably some meat for non-Sikhs.

Ratings (1-10)= Place 10, Service 2, Food 2.5 The place looks nice the hostesses decore etc BUT the food is essentially the worst Indian wedding reception buffet quality food. Nearby Mahek and Mirch Masala are 8-9 in every catagory. This place is overpriced and under delivers, also the line outside is contrived (phoney) for putting on appearances of demand. It will be pretty full but it's only a few months old. All the desserts are brought in especially the western ones, the samosas are tiny size of a thumbnail filled with goop. I'm not planning to ever go back. They took forever to bring water , had to ask for it, instead people kept showing up asking if we wanted to buy a drink! After I explained that I'd like water ot still took an additional 35 minutes to get water. Some of the dishes were excessively hot as in heat , instead of being spicey and flavorful. Butter Chicken is always white meat, instead these guys are putting in huge meat prices ripped from drumsticks , (unsold tandoori?) There are a litany of other things but this is making me have PTSD. For reference I've been to some of the world's best indian food restaurants as well as some of the worst. This place is akin to a very attractive girl who turns out to be a 500 men a day prostitute. All flash no substance.
