I have enjoyed your Philadelphia trolley videos for years. I am also an artist (retired Philly School District teacher) and have completed several paintings with trolleys as the subject . I bought my first camera in 1973. About a year later l went down to 9th street and to my huge disappointment the 47 was no longer running. I had planned on including it into several paintings. Your photos are fantastic. Before becoming a teacher I worked for the water department and was familiar with every neighborhood. I remembered seeing all these trolleys of various different routes on a daily basis.Ogontz Ave , all the numbered streets Germantown Ave., Wayne Ave, all the Southwest Philly lines. Remember when the 36 went way back to 88th Street etc.I remember seeing the alternate route on 9th street where the line was blocked by food trucks unloading their cargoes so the trolley went down a little street and came out on Christian Street I think. Anyway I believe this is the only way to make contact with you.I curious about many of your photos and would like to know if you would permit me to use them as subject matter for paintings.Since this is a recent video I hope you see it so you can respond. Thank you. John Fantine Philadelphia. So many of the buildings no longer exist. It’s sad.I’m thinking of the General Electric building on Elmwood Ave.(now the home of Amazon)and many of buildings in North Philly.
Hi John, Thanks for watching this and my other videos and for sharing your memories of the good old days in Philadelphia. I am glad you have enjoyed my photos and appreciate you taking the time to let me know. You absolutely have my permission to use any of my photos that you wish as subject material for your paintings. I am flattered that you want to do this. These pictures were scanned from 35mm slides at the highest resolution JPEG file I could do at the time of scanning. However, to make them work in the video software package, I had to reduce their size and therefore lost some resolution. If you want, and would better suit your needs, I could send you higher resolution copies of the photos at the size they were scanned. Just identify which video and the picture you want (by time on the video, vehicle number, location, etc.) and I should be able to find it and get it to you. In any case, please let me know how your paintings are going. Cheers, tassiebaz. 😄
Will do!!! It will take a while but I am very excited and grateful. These situations just don’t exist anymore and you have done a masterful job of documenting what used to be! Thanks again!
@@johnp.fantinejr.2662 It's my pleasure, whenever you get the chance. When I took these photos, I never imagined I'd be able to share them in this manner. To do this, I used to take extra slides and post them to my interested friends, as they did to me. Cheers, tassiebaz.
Been working on 2 different paintings. One of 9th street and the other of the 13 coming out of the tunnel (my photo ).Don’t know how to send you a pic but both are almost complete.
