Vast swathes of unoccupied parking is the authentic North American experience. I admit to having a sensible chuckle at 'affectionately known as "stroads".'
It has to be this way, if there isn't a parking space, nobody goes to your shop. We don't want to live in apartments on top each other and walk for efficiency. City life is stupid.
@@BenBinnebose sure, not everyone wants to live in high-rises or big apartment complexes. However, dense housing can also be single family, and mixed zoning can allow for those unable - or unwilling - to drive to still have access to easy food and amenities without delivery. Also, good public transit and cycling infrastructure has been proven to reduce traffic, making it easier to drive for those that want to, reducing the need for as much parking and making it more appealing for pedestrians.
@@BenBinnebose it's stupid until you realise that getting into your car for doing simple tasks such as taking your dog for a walk requires driving for 30 minutes in heavy traffic
It happens in most US cities, mine for example has this type of urban planning and yet the traffic is terrible to get into the Downtown and attractions
@@Proope_gg it was though. In CS1, because cars would only have one parameter to calculate their route and only changed it if their route became unavailable, you could reasonably predict what way the cars would always choose. Plus, you could see the path an agent would take from beginning to end (or all paths used by agents passing through a segment), so not only was it predictable, it was also plainly visible. In CS2, agents have 4 or 5 different parameters for choosing a route, a route which you can't isolate and view because that option doesn't exist.
these huge cranes are not suitable for the construction site of single-storey suburbs, sorry for my bad english. May developers create alternative design for construction site with little truck crane etc?
You are so wrong for that. Our glorious Freedom Lanes are peak human experience. We need to add 30 more lanes to accomodate the giga-Taco Bell. Glory to LaneMan.
I hope Steam Workshop comes back. I hope so because I spent many hours playing the game, about 400 hours that we want to return for some modifications, facilities and aesthetics in the game.
I think Cities Skylines forgets that everyone playing this game is interested in urban Design, and although some people will just want to create true-to-life cities, a lot of us want to produce the BEST cities, which means less car reliance and more pedestrianisation. Of course its already possible to play the game like that but there is an abundance of car-centred assets and the game is built around the North American grid. Look at most British city centres, especially London, you won't find a single 'parking lot'. Perhaps the occasional multi-storey but almost nobody drives into London. Creating an equivalent city in this game is really difficult without a lot of DLC.
Im pretty sure the majority of people wants to build THEIR favourite city. What is considered the BEST city for each is subjective, most of the time people will take heavy inspiration from their home cities. Also the principles of neo-urbansim shouldn't be taken as the norm, most people don't hate cars as much as some people from the NJB community do and there are many other factors that determine a good city
It’s great that you were able to make something fun and creative with limited assets. After watching this I’m inspired to make a strip mall or plaza that can double as a park-‘n-ride for buses.
I swear, if you're not yelling at the viewer THIS IS PARODY every other sentence, everybody just assumes you are endorsing whatever you're depicting. Please, everybody, stop for a second and examine the context
Is the game fixed ? last time i played was on launch and half the things didn't work as intended. I had no performance issues, but stuff like train not exporting was a annoying bug. Is it fixed? should i come back to the game? or wait a bit more?
There definitely need to be a road types pack in the future. Especially ones with two way middle left turning lanes. 3-3 roads just don't have the right look. Now 3-1-3, 4-1-4 or 2-1-2 roads will be the perfect fit for the job.
Imagine minecraft full of dlc and no mod, that would never be the best game ever sold. But in the wolrd there is game to make money and game to be played, unfortunatly SC 2 is not in this one.
American style Districts are wellknown for catastrophic city planning and unhabitable Citys. The question, why you would want to built something like that comes to mind.
@@Bigcat457to most people it's more than that. And even if it's just a game - why would you replicate a terrible design that'll lead to worse outcomes IN the game
@@fraizie6815The same reason why RTGames makes sewage volcanos and sends meteors onto his city. It's fun. Not all of us are hardcore city planners. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@Bigcat457 yes I get that, people use it to do all kinds of shenanigans. Though when you try to make a realistic, functional city - why would you want to copy a bad example from the real world and implement it in your city
Auto Mall, where there is one Auto Dealership there are usually 15 more so all automobile companies compete in the same area or street. Strip Mall usually occupies whole blocks on each side. And make all the parking lots full during Winter for Holiday shopping. 🤔🤓😬😂
The Muscle Car Garage is really a junkyard? And this was included in the SF package because? The assets in this game leave a lot to be desired. $90 down the drain.
Personally think the game could use a quest style direction for new players integrated with a more in depth tutorial, like when you start what style of city you planning, and say 10 quest pop up 1 at time helping new players learn different style citys instead of permanently looking for guides online for hours, instead of actually playing the game
This game is shit. U will be bored after 10 hours. Remember my words. For the price u get Cs:1 with all dlcs and will have more fun. But do what u wanna do
ok is a base for a very late game commercial area, when u have unlock all commercial signature buildings, because with 29k of population u can't have unlock without mods/dev mode. okai strange video but ok
Factory workers are the most likely targets for inflation because the government has a long list of labor shortages and unemployment rates to blame for the rising costs. They have a hard for you and the people who are working hard for you and you are not working harder for your constituents because they have to be working for you because your constituents have a hard time getting a good paying job because they don’t know what they’re doing. Double the unemployment rate and you are going down the road to get more workers. Triple the job and the job is done. You have no clue how many people work in a day or even one day in a day and then go to the next day and do it all over again for a day. I’m going to go to bed and then go back home to work on my own time to do my homework for a week or so because I’m tired of working and I don’t wanna be bothered 😂😂😂🎉 and it’s a great day of work thing but it’s a 😂 time to be working on my birthday weekend 😢😂😂
I think that north American cities waste a lot of space on parking lots and... generally anything that is built. Why is everything spaced so far apart? Of course America has no issues with of land. 🤦🏻♂️
So really this is "How to design a parking lot with a bunch of building you need to unlock much later in your game, but its ok you can just choose to unlock everything right away... and oh wait, you better have bought the San Francisco DLC to make this work!"
