Okay, rival or not, I give respect where respect is due. Since the early nineties these boys have consistently improved the overall technique, presentation, showmanship and presence of the line. EVERY year. I'm a Howardite but I''m also a professional percussionist, and these guys represent the conference qnd our craft VERY well. ai'd put them toe to toe with any SWAC line.
A&T! CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT YOU AND I'M FROM KENTUCKY STATE COUNTRY. IN MY OPINION BADDEST BAND IN THE LAND. YOU CAN'T JUDGE FROM ONE CLIP. RESEARCH PEOPLE RESEARCH
Okay folks, I'm getting ready to do a 30 minute documentary on the best HBCU Bands in N.C. My highlight will be the Cold Steel and Golden Delight Dancers. This will be one of positiveness despite the recent allegations of hazing in HBCU Bands. These folks have gifts and talent, should be praised for their hard work.
I don't know what that part is, but I love when the Drummer Guy comes up to the Girls as they are lined up, and then Girls do this dance to the Drum. NICE!!!!!!!!!
You know what? I'm not even gonna argue with that. You're the first person to really say, "They have different styles, you can't compare them" Rather than, "Hurr durr Southern is better becuz dey dance". And for that, I thank you. Have a cookie. :]
Due young me......a great show of professionalism and showmanship....very well done....I am proud of you guy, but also get your education while you are there....great job.
damn its been a long time since i saw a drumline that made wish i was still marching. this was awesome. and you can tell everybody, the band, the majorettes(excuse, i dnt know their name), the fans, everybody was into it.
this is the blackest drumline i have seen out of all the black the drumlines i have seen. now i understand what swagg is. cold steel is the best hands down. sure they are not always c lean but they are always entertaining to watch. this goes to show you as long as you can put on a good show the crowd could care less about everything else
Wow he called me son. Let me tell you a little about me. Aggie class of 99 3 yr. letter man in football, and back then WE TOOK THE SPARTANS TO THE WOOD SHED BOTH ON THE FIELD AND IN THE STANDS! Good to see the stands is still owned by the Aggies at least. So yeah I've been out of Kentucky.. .LMBO! Any other comments directed at me please direct them to my AGGIE PRIDE ! SON!
I love this college's band ! I was lucky enough to go to a battle of the bands type thing and see them a few years back, they've always been great at what they do! (: But I hate when people record videos and its all shaky, so its really hard to watch. -_-
From the uploader: "This is a performance after the pep rally on the streets before getting on the bus." If I was there, there would have been a padlock on the bus door so they'd have to give my ears a little more. If they did, I MIGHT throw them the key! If not, Play some more!!!
im a freshman in high school now and cld someone tell me wat are somethings i need to kno to even be a part of a college percussion line or to even have a chance at bein in one
Yo this is was up i watched this over and over because im in a drum core of my own and this is the kinda thing i want for my drum core (For the most part) Maranatha SDA Eagles Tallahassee, FL :)
GOD(i)AMN!!!!....U got to be athletic as fck too just to be IN the band!!!!!?????? Is this school close to where mj grew up??? Yall got a baseball team there?
it can be a marching band that actually signifies the drumline because alot of them are not noticed ppl are always noticing the wind instruments and auxilaries.
Yeah! That's why they make MOVIES about your school. (ie Drumline). Most drummers can't do half of this standing STILL. Their timing in the film is so amazing, I've been in tears more times than I can count... I love the girl at the 5:46 mark in the white shirt :) Very cute :) Minor stuff: please stand still and let camera focus when filming. Maybe stand further back and use the zoom to prevent so much distortion that camera phones aren't made to handle. Hope y'all wear earplugs: I KNOW that's LOUD. I have two kits, and I am totally in LOVE with my baby, the Ludwig Vistalite Bonham kit. Measured at 123 db, which I'm VERY proud of. I'm not the best drummer on the block, but I KNOW I'm the most powerful :) All of that love comes from Bonham and the big, noisy but incredibly melodic and rhythmic stuff that marching bands do/use. I use FirthHighlander sticks*: light, maple THICK as heck marching band sticks for the silver dot drumheads, as God intended. And who doesn't love the biggest kick you can grab??? *Discontinued, even though I BEGGED them not to get rid of the best sticks ever... BEST. Marching. Band. EVER.
damn! this is what i wanna get a scholership to go to collage for is drumline. like to the university of montana. well, this is my fourth year drumming and i have 3 more to go, then hopfully ill get a scollership.
i go to george washington community highschool and i play snare you will be seeing me at bands of america in indianapolis indiana check us out and snares and the whole a & t line is awsome including the ladies.!!!!!!!!
I watched the vid. They're good but they're a different style than A&T. But these two drumlines have two different purposes. DCI and WGI play really complex rhythms, which is what makes what they do impressive. Cold Steel is more about entertainment, playing something that makes the crowd wnat to get out of they're seats and start dancing. Also they dance while playing, putting on more of a show. You can't compare the two. It's like comparing hip hop to jazz. It all depends on your preference.
