That's "Take FOUR" !!!

Brubeck was my introduction to Jazz. Take Five was the song. I've never heard it as an orchestral piece before. Whoever the arranger is, he did a marvelous job.

While this is very good, shouldn't this cover be called Take 4?

I wasn't sure what to expect with this, but you all did it beautifully. It left me smiling. The vocals were a great touch.

everyone commenting about how it's not a 5/4. It's a nice coverable jazz standard. It does not have to keep the original beat to be good.

Val Bennett did the original Reggae version of this in 68 and has been done by countless other Ska and Reggae groups!

es como escuchar a los skatalites, que buena orquesta.

I see a lot of comments about the lack of 5/4 timing not bringing the flavor and the tack should be called something else. Before we condemn this track to hell, this is just a rendition of Desmond's tune and a damn nice one at that. It's the spirit of the track that makes this worthy of positive attention not that it's not in 5/4 time. I say thumbs up, dig it for what it is not for what it's not. 'Tis not what man does which exalts him, but what man would do!

I love this though it seems to be more of a slow reggae beat. If you listen to much ska music you'll hear a much faster rhythm. I actually expected this tune kick into double time after the first chorus. Nice filming, great band, just not quite the ska I hear with The Skatalites, mon.

Read the comments please. We don't need another fifty-seven smart-arses to tell us about the timing that the tune should be played at. The tune is called 'take five' - the story behind the naming is just an aside.

taking an iconic 5/4 groove and smooshing it into 4/4 is masterful... but you shafted the drummer out of his joe morello solo!

Trent Reznor wrote a song called Hurt. Chris Cornell wrote a song called Rusty Cage. Rick Rubin arranged these songs for another artist. My mother was the biggest Dave Brubeck fan, ever. I restacked the LP records on the console player with the Tijuana Brass and the like. My mom would so approve. If you're a musician and don't like this, you're a hater. If you don't enjoy this arrangement of Take Five, few could share your opinion.

"Ska", sounds more like reggae to me. Very much reggae. Nice arrangments.

Great song, I like the interpretation of it all, only problem is that this song is meant for a feel of five four. Instead at 0:33 you can see, on the sheet that it's in common times which is four four. There is no five four time. Take four guys.

This is a great show of musicianship. It seems a little stifling to the song to convert it to 4/4 though. It looses its unique 5 groove this way, still sounds great though.

Thank goodness for variety. One of my favorite things about ska and reggae are all of the covers. It would be damn boring and pointless if they all sounded the same. Great cover, great band!
