This is a good American breakfast, but I don't think that anyone could eat this everyday. In my family this was a Saturday or Sunday morning breakfast. It takes a lot of time to cook all of this and that is hard if there is work or school to prepare for.

Its not only koreans of the north variety that eat dog... one of the other reactors on this channel from the south has tried it. Besides it makes no sense to eat pork but not eat dog when pigs have a higher intelligence than dog. If you try to say its cruel to eat dogs but you eat pork, you would be cruel as well, more so even. I came to this realization when I saw the vegan, where do you cross the line, poster with animals. I thought to myself, why do I eat meat. Its because I like the taste. Why do I not eat some kinds of meat, I do not know I have neve tried them. I then concluded that I could try meat from all animals if offered to me, and then continue to mainly eat the ones I enjoy, be it the traditional livestock, or new sources of animal meat I try throughout my life. But, to each their own, I guess.

My usual breakfast in America is scrambled eggs with pepper on them, hashbrowns, sausage, and a biscuit with grape or strawberry jelly. It's the same as getting a big breakfast from McDonalds. When I cook my own breakfast I do scrambled eggs with pepper on them, bacon or sausage, links or patties, and toast with butter and jelly on it. Sometimes I even cook a ham, egg, and cheese omelet, and I put some franks red hot sauce on it, with toast and sometimes sausage or bacon on the side.

I'm the odd one out in my family. I like simple foods for breakfast (if I eat breakfast at all.) Filling and warming, more healthy than not. Soup or oatmeal with a sprinkle of brown sugar and bit of syrup, tea/coffee. Maybe some fruit (an orange, an apple, melon is the best.) I rarely ever eat boxed breakfast cereal, but when I do I preferably cinnamon toast crunch, honey bunches of oats, or wheat/mini wheats. If not feeling particularly hungry, warm up a cup of Instant Breakfast+milk or just add it to my coffee. I'm grateful we have so many options to choose from, but at the same time it's also a bad THING. All the competition leads to pushing healthy food aside to spotlight concoctions slapped together that are spiked with more fat, more salt, more sugar, more high fructose corn syrup, etc knowing the mass majority of people ignore serving size. America the chungus mill xD

I would love to see more North Korean taste tests w/ U.S. (and other countries) corn recipes since they mentioned it's thought of as a filling but not especially tasty food. Like how we'd think of hot cereal or porridge, I guess? Hash browns/galletes, papas con chorizo, baked potato, corn soup, ellotes, etc., etc. I know there's a tik tok chef who did a potato series that's pretty popular they can check out for inspo.

We usually have this breakfast maybe... once every two or three weeks? And a lot of the time we actually eat it for dinner LOL it takes a lot of time and preparation, lots of cooking, so we don't do it often. This is definitely our "traditional" breakfast, though. This is most definitely not a commonly served breakfast. This meal is a special occasion breakfast, and something you might find at a restaurant, or a breakfast buffet. Not in every home, and most certainly not every day. Most people grab some coffee and toast, maybe a couple eggs. Or some yogurt and fruit, or overnight oats, maybe heat up some leftovers in the microwave, cream cheese on a bagel, avocado toast, cereal in a bowl with milk, poptarts, microwave breakfast sausage biscuit and eat it in the car on the way to work. The decision to show this spread as "normal" is comparable to showing a typical Thanksgiving meal and saying, "This is what Americans eat for dinner."

My impression of North Korea is this. There is Pyongyang and then there is everywhere else. In Pyongyang you can get pretty much everything if you have money. Everywhere else you get only what is limited to that area or foraged. Almost no meat can be found. What meat you do have is what you raise primarily. Chickens. Dogs. Rabbits. Pigs. But it's expensive if you don't raise it yourself. So most people are vegetarians. Not because they want to be but out of necessity. And other than rice or potatoes, most people eat whatever they can find in their area. Their diets are bland and monotonous. With small quantities of food. Outside of Pyongyang you won't find heavy North Koreans. Just skinny ones.
@wpl8275
@wpl8275 3 года назад
As for the American breakfast it's a bit like a full English breakfast. Something that isn't eaten that often. At most you might have pancakes, bacon and eggs. And almost never sausage and bacon together. Only if you eat out do you get an American breakfast like that with everything. South Koreans are like Americans in that they head out to work early in the morning. Breakfast is whatever they can get early in the morning. For South Koreans it might be rice and something else. My average breakfast now consists of oatmeal, yogurt and a banana.
