The City of Edmonton is building a 3.3 km LRT extension northwest from Churchill Station in downtown Edmonton to new LRT stations at Grant MacEwan University, the Royal Alexandra Hospital and NAIT. The North LRT to NAIT is expected to open to public service in 2014.

LRT station at Kingsway/Royal Alex was built with convenient access to health care as a priority. The Kingsway Transit Centre is being moved to better integrate bus & LRT service. Kingsway Station will serve many commuters (i.e. not just patrons and merchants), including: Residents of surrounding neighbourhoods • Hospital patients, staff and visitors • Patrons and merchants of Kingsway Garden Mall • Businesses along Kingsway Avenue • Victoria School students & staff • Centre for Education staff

A LRT to St. Albert would take a lot of traffic off the road and make it easier for people to get to work and safer.

Showcase Canada TV And why would Edmonton pay for a LRT station when St.Albert isn't even part of Edmonton. Unless St. Albert pays the bill for it, I highly doubt it.

The NAIT station is way more convenient for those going to the mall. Also strange that the bus station is moved further, since most traffic at the current bus station goes to the mall. Now people shopping with their purchases will have to inconveniently cross the tracks in the Edmonton cold winter to get to their bus to go home, which again will have to cross the track again to go West, which will be the most used route since route 8 and EB commuters can get on at downtown.

I don't understand why Torontonians are so against LRTs... they're as good as a subway.

many Torontonians aren't against LRTs. It was our former mayor - Rob Ford - who was dead set against them...
