Baltimore is worse block to block from my experience. One is nice and the next is terrible. Philly is a bit more consistent with areas being terrible or not
These narrow one way streets are due to the age of the city. Some are late 1700's and the poles you see in the front of these row homes used to be for horses. I truly wonder how structurally sound these are. After seeing Kensington, this looks ok in comparison.....and I thought NOTHING was worse than this once upon a time. It's sad because some of the architecture in certain areas...looks like it HAD been beautiful in the early 1900's possibly.
@xPositivityx bless I don't know man, it's better than some places, but I've lived in some 3rd world countries, in some pretty poor spots with people who didn't have a pot to piss in. There's certainly challenges, but I would live there before I would some of the places like in Philly or other cities in the USA. It's poor but the attitudes and way of life, much different in a good way.
All I see when I watch this drive through videos ...is no opportunities and being stressed the f@ck out on how am I going to make it out... this can't be life.
Plenty of opportunities. They choose to live off of the government and stay home and do and sell drugs. Why do you think it’s the same people generation after generation that are still poor? Meanwhile immigrants come into this county with nothing and have a good life after a few years of working and bettering themselves
I’m from north Philly and it’s a total dump now. Shootings every day, jobless bums riding in their bikes not respecting the lights, and addicts everywhere. Don’t blame the Govt. it’s the Philly culture and people that live there.
Just remember when you come to Philly its really big and have many different neighborhoods and sections of the city you only been to just a fraction of a section of the city so far Kensington/ Frankford and North Philly sections. But again that's not where all us resides at in the city you have a lot of driving to do to cover the whole city of Philly and North Philly is pretty big within itself thats just a smidget of North Philly you were in.
I wouldn't want to live in any city that has this going on in it. It shows degenerate and corrupt leadership. Democratic since the 1950s I understand... figures.
@@darthkek1953 It isn't fair to generalize everyone who lives in Philly as a corrupt democrat. More often, the votes overpower that of the suburban areas and neighborhoods where people reside. I live in Seattle, and most of the clueless crackheads and hippies live in the shithole downtown - I'm certain this is the case with Philadelphia as well.
@kolymian wolf As far as brand name? There is some Latin Kings in N Philly of course there is the Philadelphia Family (Cosa Nostra-Italian Mafia) in South Philly. City has more of crews and blocks and drugs gangs rather than actual name street gangs like Chicago or LA.
I grew up in North Philly and remember seeing ppl eating Chinese store wing platters and chuck the chicken bones and the whole damn container when they were done on the ground
Philly's row houses always intrigue me. A genuine Philadelphia thing. Some folks may be a little unsettled by these 'hoods' but to me, they look vibrant and poppin'. At night things could be poppin' of the 'cap' variety but that's another video, huh Charlie? LoL
Notice that in Philly, Camden, Baltimore, Scranton, anywhere there are blocks of connected row houses, that even the abandoned or burned shells have to often stay up and intact as they are still integral parts of the overall construction... Whenever a structure decays or just burns beyond repair, crews often will just gut what remains down to the basic partition (4 walls), strengthen or brace the inside of the walls themselves, brick up or fill in the outside door and window openings (again for strength), and install a waterproof liner where what's left of the roof (or once had been the roof), and that's about it... You have little or no vacant spots in between occupied structures as a result...
Hey...I gotta gud one for you...do a opposite type video of the better parts the country jus az a reference to see the real difference in poverty...jus a idea...
@@GeneralGlockasiah If you think it's only urban shit holes and suburbia that makes up the US you really need to get out some more. Beautiful rural areas with low crime and rural shit holes that make you believe there is a hell.
I naively stayed in North Philly for a conference and it was the scariest thing I have ever experienced in my life. I do not know how someone could live in these conditions.
Ya, but bad happens bc of it too. They cause car accidents by blowing through red lights & stop signs. Or ride on sidewalks and plow into people walking..Example, last summer a little 4 yr old girl got run over by dirtbike who was doing wheelie at 50 mph...It literally knocked her outta both her shoes (RIP)
I've seen a few of these videos. I'm always intrigued by the poverty and urban decay, yet I see so many late model vehicles parked on the streets. Where is the money for the new cars coming from?
I don't understand why living in a poor area some people don't care about keeping it clean and just throw litter all over. That's your home area, have respect for yourself and others. If there's not a garbage can stuff in your pocket until you find one. Some areas were definitely cleaner then others.
Most people that illegally dump garbage in the street people and companies are dumping it in poor run down areas that they don’t live in. The city could care less about cleaning up most people rent so it’s the slumlords that let these properties decay
U know whats crazy, It some of the vacant lots were taken care of and houses repaired/repainted, this video showed nothing bad, like it seems like it would be a nice place to live. Everyone in the video seems to be enjoying their day with others from the community. I for one like that. People talk shit online but the fact that these people are finding the good in a bad situation says a lot.
Beautiful place, love its grimness!!! Despite social problems and violence, there are probably many decent people living here. Love to see people hanging out in the streets, and children playing. Maybe, there is a strong community spirit, that is lacking in the suburbs. Has a great deal of character!!!
Such a shame, so many of these streets would be lovely if they were maintained and not trashed. The houses themselves look very nice! It's a mishmash of continental styles but still nice.
Yeah especially near the end on those one-way streets they had all those kids I bet someone would mistake it for Europe if you change the cars and the ground wasn’t so dirty
My dad was the only one smart enough to get out of Philadelphia while my mom Still lives in this dump of shit. I gotta walk these streets with bulletproof vest on..😒
Oh yeah it did but the BX was way more hit than BK Eva was but the crack days of the 80's and early 90's is real and unforgettable.....lots of fam doin wrong and dyin is neva gud .....
I miss Philly I remember early 2000s we used to have block parties and block gatherings 🥲 we all was wutanging and Jaming love getting me a nice water ice and a soft pretzel and dip it would be so good and just chill I'm crying cause I really miss it time flys
