The 2019 Annual Steam Gala at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway was eagerly anticipated by many enthusiasts as not only were there some interesting visiting locos but there were also a number of returnees to the railway’s home fleet. Visiting locos were 6023 ‘King Edward II’, 60009 ‘Union of South Africa’, 6990 ‘Witherslack Hall’ and the K1, 62005. S15 No.825 was due to make its return after overhaul as well as a possible appearance by 9F No.92134, recently steamed for the first time in over 50 years. The gala ran from 27th. - 29th. September 2019 and there was a mini pre gala on 26/9 featuring NELPG locomotives, two shots of which appear in the video. In the event the 9F was initially declared unfit for the gala but did make a cameo appearance on the Friday with a solo run from Grosmont to Goathland and back. On the Saturday the 9F was added to the front of a freight with 2253 as train engine and later, to the dismay of many was added to the front of a train hauled by 6023, running to Pickering where the loco was turned. It made it’s first solo appearance on the final day of the gala but sadly because of the bad weather we left for home so were unable to film it.
