I love the character of Henry Tilney (both the book version and the movie version). He is my favorite of the leading men in Austen's novels. I love his personality and sense of humor. He is the most down to earth and the one I would pick as boyfriend or just a friend in general.
I absolutely agree. This is one of my very favorite screen kisses, with the advantage that it's even true to the book. It's as adorable as it is amusing to watch a very tall person trying to kiss a very short one, while the short one tries to figure out how to kiss anybody because she's never done it before and doesn't know where the hands and noses go. Awwwww.........
This is one of my favorite classics! She and I share some personality traits; I have a big imagination and tend to daydream, sometimes I get carried away and too involved in the story! She grows and matures a lot over that time, I believe that she's much more aware of the world around her and wiser too. I love Mr. Tilney's character, he's so kind, patient, witty, and compassionate. A real gentlemen! Who knows? I might meet a Mr. Tilney someday. After all, I AM Katherine! ;D
HENRY is very atractive and kind but my favorite quality of him is his personality (cheerful and sweet humor wich make think he is still a child in some senses)i love his tender glances for Cathy. lucky girl !!!
It's just so cute how they kiss, she's so little compared to him it's just really adorable! I wish they had extended it a bit though, the end has always seemed too abrupt to me. xx
I love the way he says it; makes me all giddy!! I had a feeling he liked her from the start!! Out of all the Austen men HE was the easiest to read; I think about the whole thing with his mother and father; he just felt hurt. I loved that story; it was not my favorite; but I could the book now and enjoy it!!
Oh its so wonderful that there are so many more Austen fans like myself, and who have enjoyed this movie just as much as I have! Northanger Abbey was such a sweet light-hearted novel and it translated well into this movie. The girl who played Catherine was perfect! I will watch this again when it comes on PBS this January =]
Oh my goodness... I have never cried from an Austen movie when I had already read the book first! This adaption was wonderful! I believe the very small size of the book was in the screenwriters favor, but I loved it nontheless Thank you so much for giving us this movie!
thanks so much for posting! I wasn't sure at first, but Henry grew more adorable as the movie went on, and I think I'm as guilty of having my head in a book as Katherine.
Aww they're so perfect for each other :):) they're both so innocent and so sweet! Haha and they're both afraid the other is angry with them! "I fear I may never be a rich man" "Please! Go on with what you were going to say..." And a perfect kiss :) hehe this is my kind of love story
that was such an awkwardly amazing kiss. while not my favorite jane austen adaption film, i did like it very much. thanks for posting this great show scampostrini!
Whew...I'm Jane Austined out! I've seen Pride&Prejudice 1980, Sense&Sensibility, both 1971/81 version's, Persuasion 1971, Miss Austin Regrets and now Northanger Abbey, enjoyed that but now i'm going down the inn. Thanks for share.
you are an absolute savior, thank you for uploading this movie. :] i love right when they're about to kiss, and they're trapped in that sort of "hug? kiss? hug? kiss?!" thing, haha.
I am a huge Pride and Prejudice fan. My second favourite would be Sense and Sensibility. I have tried several times to read some of her others, but my bias towards the other two is so strong that I can not enjoy them without comparison. That is why I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. And I aim to read the book that has been sitting on my shelf for a while now. So thank you for enlightening me!!
..and they live happily ever after.. I think Jane Austen didn't like gothic stories very much and so the book is very different to the others, especially the heroine, who is very naive. I didn't like the book very much, but I really like this film! The actors are great and how they arranged her nightmares, so funny. I really enjoyed watching it! Thank you scampostrini for making these german, rainy, cold autumnevenings so pleasant!
Well this was my 5th time i watched the film, my dad cannot understand, he asked me if i would not know the dialogs almost by haed....well maybe it is so. But i love this film and the book was my first in englich, the other i read in german. They are so well written in englisch. The lovescane represent the situation of assumed passion, that must be shown in one kiss. It is very cute how catherine takes it by herself and kissed him. well thx for post it
