I grew up listening to my grandmother singing out her prayers. She called it ‘calling’- something I wish I had paid more attention to now. She said she would take me to our ‘home’ one day. My mother forbid it- said God wanted me in the church... but I still dream of my grandmother’s singing. The drums are like my heartbeat- I wish I could go home.
