This hour-long documentary, co-produced by CGEE and PBS affiliate WDSE in Duluth, MN, celebrates the star-bright skies of the Minnesota-Ontario border region where Voyageurs National Park, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, and Ontario's Quetico Provincial Park make up the world's largest designated Dark Sky sanctuary. It explores how the night sky has been interpreted across cultures and through time with a special focus on Dakota and Ojibwe traditional star knowledge. It also documents how the widespread negative environmental and human-health impacts of light pollution are being addressed by communities such as Duluth, preserving our connections with the universe.
