Watch as we transform a worn-out and confining backyard deck into a custom-raised paver patio, complete with a durable landing pad and block step.
The project began with the demolition of the outdated deck, clearing the way for a new entertaining area. Opting for a raised patio over a traditional deck is a savvy choice in scenarios like this where there's a reasonable grade change. And, as long as you are abiding by local code and don't exceed certain heights, you don't need railings for a raised patio, which opens up the space for a more welcoming outdoor environment.
The construction of the raised landing pad was our next focus. We built a reverse retaining wall and filled the area with aggregate stone and geogrid, ensuring the utmost stability for the structure.
We then installed a Keystone block step leading down to the Cambridge Ledgestone paver patio. The layout of the patio was carefully planned to include smooth flows and curves, with a designated bump-out for the client’s prized meat smoker. To maintain the integrity of the design, specialized cuts were made in the running-bond border to ensure seamless integration of the border pavers, underscoring our dedication to high-quality workmanship.
An essential component of this project was the installation of a drain tile system. This system is designed to redirect water that accumulates during heavy rainstorms to more adequately drained areas of the yard, safeguarding the patio’s longevity and durability under varying weather conditions.
