Tuned into the Proms Northern Soul last night....was looking at something else and heard this guys voice. which made me sit up and pay attention....THIS BOY CAN SING.....great talent ....get him signed up ...He's got Soul....

Was absolutely privileged to be in the Albert Hall that night. You could see hairs standing up on the back of people's necks during this. It was such a stunning performance. If I had a DeLorean time machine I'd go back to this point time after time

To me this was thee song of the performance and I’ve resisted to the whole concert 3 times. This song means alot to me and when he came on I thought it’s Jarvis Cocker’s kid brother, how wrong was I, he SMASHED it in my opinion. I’m glad this song has its own link and respect to Darrell Smith the singer.

The appearance of a slow number could have brought the evening down a touch, but no - Darrell's emotive performance brought real passion to this song. Coupled with just the right, slightly understated backing from the orchestra, this outstanding gem lifted the concert to a new level, which was clearly appreciated by the audience!

It was the best 2 hours of the best music

I wasn't sure that 'Northern Soul at the Proms' would work as I thought the authentic feel and sound, which drew me in in the mid/late 1970s, would be lost. Boy oh boy how wrong I was! From start to finish I loved every minute, and was on an emotional rollercoaster throughout. As others have said, this by Darrell Smith just blew me away and was the highlight of a fantastic evening. Wow, just wow!! What a performance.

I've been into this scene since my first allnighter at the Casino in 1979. Think the Marvellettes were live that night. I've heard this song loads over the years but it has never ever hit me like it did with this performance. Well done indeed. That was magnificent.
