Ice and Fishing Report for Northern Wisconsin (Vilas County) January 15th, 2024. We have an average of about 6 inches of ice on most lakes. This means that we're good to travel by snowmobile and the walking part of the season is finally over. Towards the basins, I'd still use caution as they are likely still sketchy.
Fishing has been consistent panfish, pike, and trout bite continues to be good. Walleye fishing has been good, but we've been focusing on the "early ice" grass bed bites, we'll be getting out over offshore structure for walleye now that we can travel to the fish by sled.
Fox Valley Outdoors Guide Service has availability in the coming weeks. Get in touch through the website www.foxvalleyoutdoors.com and let's go fishing!
