[Excerpt of a Terence McKenna speech] "We have to stop consuming our culture. We have to create culture. Don't watch TV, don't read magazines, don't even listen to NPR. Create your own roadshow. The nexus of space and time, where you are now, is the most immediate sector of your universe. And if you're worrying about Michael Jackson or Bill Clinton or somebody else, then you are disempowered. You are giving it all away to icons. Icons which are maintained by an electronic media, so that you want to dress like X or have lips like Y. This is shit-brained this kind of thinking. That is all cultural diversion. And what is real is you and your friends, and your associations, your highs, your orgasms, your hopes, your plans, your fears. And we are told no. We're unimportant, we're peripheral, get a degree, get a job, get a this, get a that, and then you're a player. You don't even want to play in that game. You want to reclaim your mind and get it out of the hands of the cultural engineers who want to turn you into a half-baked moron consuming all this trash that's being manufactured out of the bones of a dying world. Where is that at?".

im without words. this struck my very core in the most awe inspiring way that i couldnt keep the wave of shivers from washing over me. the progression of the notes rising on the horizon and his voice slowly fading in with the wind from the east...it all had such a serene yet overwhelming presence and grew and grew until i heard it bloom in all its wonder, erupting in vibrance as it enters my inner world. this is the sound of a change in perspective. this is the sound of strings snapping and towers toppling over. this what light sounds like. this is the arrival of opportunity.
Think bout when this song dropped m the one your mentioning, if Architects made there song after Singularity, you know inspired who, it's all a big of music, you get pumped back to back with other bands that propels music into something extraordinary
nunolance23 its sooo not the same without adrian but i mean id definitly go see them still because their new singer still holds up that good northlane reputation although adrian made this so much better
Neesa Reynolds exactly, I still hope they come to my country when they tour europe this fall and play a lot of songs from singularity. Adrian's voice and lyrics were the main reasons why I really got into Northlane.
This song is so empowering. I remembering finding this song as a sophomore in high school. Being so obsessed with this band, listening to them daily, buying their merch. But I never got the message… nearly a decade later and the message behind this song hit me like a fucking train… I guess the message will only get to you when you’re ready to receive it. Powerful song. Beautiful message. Empower yourself
I normally connect and vibe with old school trance music, but this...this does something to my soul and the Terrence McKenna sample, it's fitting for my psychonaut self. I'm taken aback by how amazing this is.
My brother use to listen to this, I'm met up with him today for my dads 52nd birthday, I brought this up with him and we proceeded to spend the rest of our night together listening to metal music, Dylan, if you're reading this, I love you, I always have, and I always will.
Well, I got friendzoned by one of the only girls I know who listens to Metal music xD But that's not too bad I guess, a friend with the same taste of music is also a great thing :) We just have to keep searching! :D One day you will meet her ;)
McKenna also said something I felt strongly for, as a passion for art, I dislike when someone says something is beautiful, Mckenna said he does not believe that something is beautiful, but rather we experience a moment of beauty.
pure positive vibration, am i the only person that cried when listened this epic song? must be the message inside of all this kind of topics of the new era, we are finally awakenig, the kali yuga age is ending.
well, i'd say people have been aware of the current state of society just look at Fight Club, it came out over 15 years ago and it features similar views on consumerism, celebrity culture, materialism etc But all of that has just gotten worse since. It's kind of a shame that the trends in pop culture, obsession with celebrities, social media and stuff has not died down. I would like to think that people have begun "awakening" but sadly, if these songs, films and more that feature this topics actually had an effect, then we would have seen change by now, but we haven't and its only getting worse. Apologies for the long reply, and sorry if it seems like im trying to be smart or something by using some of those words earlier but i'm just elaborating on your point, not trying to argue or disagree or anything. I just don't think that we will ever see this change.
I remember the trialogues between ralph abraham, terrence mckenna and rupert sheldrake. Honestly amazing people, perfect melody to tune with the REALNESS spat by t. mc. Dennis Mckenna has done some fascinating work and has a pHD to back it all! You should check out some of his stuff too. Though I would say he's not in the same relm of his brother
Ive been a Northlane for years now, and this is first time really playing Singularity the song, and too psyched that its got Mckenna talking on it, ah Northlane thank you for existing
I’ve never thought to write this but i think it’s important to share, This song is the single most important piece of audio in my life. It gets me through alot of shit - I don’t even mean that i’ve been through alot of shit, i listen to this song before the gym or during stressful times when i need to recollect myself. I truly use this song as an emotional anchor for whats really important and i can say without a doubt this backing track attached to Terrence Mckenna has changed my life, my goals, my perspective importance and my outlook. Powerful.
All our dreams can come true if we all can dream together One world, one mind, one heart Raise your hands in belief; we can do this all together One world, one mind, one heart.
I listen to this years ago, and this year i became familiar with terrence mckenna lectures. after clicking in a terrence mckenna chillstep, i notice that was him in this song omg
Someone, ANYONE help me find more of these amazing speeches with such amazing backing music. I love this kind of stuff as a genre and you only really come across it as like filler tracks in albums (like A thousand suns by LP), where can I find more?
I'm doing the Terrence McKenna excript as a monologue in acting class. This song has not only inspired me to do it, but helped me memorize it. I only hope I can do it justice.
