Thanks Lewis! Every sea kayak should be able to cope with this... but I have absolutly no experience with Scott, so I'm really not sure about this. Maybe ask other Scott paddlers, or the manufacturer? All the best, be safe!👌😊
Dankjewel Wijnand!
Congratulations Ryan!! You will love it, but it is normal that it gives a different feeling. I had the same and needed some time to adapt to the behaviour of this boat. Have fun!😊👌
Hello Enzo, We use VE PADDLES, and more specific the full carbon Explorer with medium or large blades. Check out their website for more details. Cheers!😊👍
There is rocker on this boat, in comparison with the first model I field tested before (see The Run, first video). It was one of the first things I noticed and asked P&H to adjust a bit (which they did). The hull still is based on a surf ski, so most rocker in the stern.
Hello Christobal! Congrats with your new boat! What mark is it? We use the P&H spraydeck, but any neoprene will do. Don't forget to measure your cockpit opening, so that you buy the right size.👌😊
To be honest: 2 times within our team during the past 13 years. Last time was a team member who capsized near that buoy you can see in the video. He was not able to perform a self-rescue because the aft bulkhead was leaking, and the boat took to much water. The time before I lost my team mate in exactly the same conditions as in the vid. I called the CG via radio. They picked him up a few hundreds of meters away from his boat. Tether had snapped under the pressure. Both times: no loss of life, no injuries, no loss or damage to equipment, no hypothermia. Training kicked in immediatly, and we were glad for that. Both times we were complimented bij the CG for preparation and calling for help immediatly instead of waiting until all is lost. We keep learning!😊👌
@@Northseakayak Training is good! I'm going to get myself booked on to a sea kayaking course once all this Covid is over, and try and find myself a sea kayaking club. All the clubs round here are WW and racing clubs :(
@@livz666 that is a great idea! Without any obligations: we organise a Sea Kayak Training Camp in Croatia every year!😊👍 Five days immersion in sea kayak techniques. Check our SKTC video section and you will see for yourself.
Hmmm. I've had a couple of extended demos in two Valkyries. I tried very hard to like it, I wanted a second boat to compliment my Taran 18, am afraid I've written the Valkyrie off as a crock of shite. Not as fast as a Taran into the wind, on flat water or with the wind, not as sea worthy either.
Hi Brennan, I have paddled the Taran as well, as you did with the Valkyrie. The Valkyrie should not be compared with the Taran on speed. The Taran is composite, the Valkyrie is polyethylene. Both have pros and cons. At this point there are no comparable PE boats, P&H just developed the first plastic fast sea kayak. We should wait until P&H makes a composite version, and than it would be fair to compare those 2 boats.
@@Northseakayak think you missed my main point. In my opinion "it's not as sea worthy" which means at best it's a play boat or toy only to be taken out on safe water or with good backup. At worst it's a crock of shite not fit to be taken out to sea. In my opinion.
@@TheSwellrider I'm sorry but my feeling about the Valkyrie can't be dismissed as "different strokes" I have seen a lot of people have a great day on the water with an inflatable kayak, that doesn't excuse its limitations.
@@Brennan22able I didn't missed your last words, but if you want.... I go with the Valkyrie on seas to the limit, doing rescues and self-rescues with it. I have seen other paddlers, even in my own team, doing the same but also less with their Taran. Both boats are equally sea worthy. Maybe you are just used to paddle your own boat.... I respect you opinion of course, but I try to remain as objective as possible. And saying about the Valkyrie that it is a piece of ***, or just a toy isn't objective, neither respectful.
Absolutely jaw dropping! I jumped in my seat several times watching those monster waves rise up around you! Your bravery and mastery of those conditions is amazing. Truly. Watching your videos gives me goosebumps!
@@Northseakayak Yes, at night -15 happens ,the "sea" is still liquid, but the rivers have risen... We'll take another ride or two, before the frosts, and try
He did a lot of editing to make it appear that he’s in the water and fighting the huge waves. And also how is it possible to get a video of himself paddling on afar? Does he operate a drone while paddling???? Very suspicious video...
Top man..
Hoi Herman! Dankjewel hoor! Ja, het valt te bezien met welk bootje je vaart, en op welke golven. Maakt niet uit, zolang je maar pret hebt! Veel groeten!😊👌💦

I think You must try surfski. Our club bought three surfski this summer. And when I sit in surfski first time it was amazing feeling of freedom. Downwind on kayak it's like running with shackles on your feet.
Hi Raimond, you are not the first to tell. Although you are probably right, my heart lies with sea kayaking. P&H already built this Valkyrie with a hull based on that of a surfski. I'm waiting for a composite version to go even faster. Cheers!👍💥💪
@@Northseakayak problem of kayak is place of rudder. In downwind when You begining to surf your rudder in air and You lose controllability without paddle. Just try surfski and You understand his advantage.
@@raimondromazanov1093 I wasn't arguing and I believe what you say is right... but I love sea kayaking and I probably stick with it. Must admit that I watch downwind vids with surf skis also!😄👍
@@coriolanchassaing4887 it can be quite cold during winter time, but it would go well if properly dressed. We paddled a sit-on-top sea kayak for 5 years back in the days. Of course one is more exposed to the elements. Cheers!😊🖐
Nice video. It's video's like these make me want to pick up seakayaking again, I really miss it. One small critical note if I may, shouldn't you wear a helmet in a surf like that?
Hello Maarten, and thank you for the nice compliments! About wearing a helmet: we do when not alone or when near rocks. In the video is was alone, no rocks and just launching and returning afterwards in surf zone. All in between is open water, so low risk of hurting your head. Cheers!😊👍
Hi, I'm Andrea from Italy. I would be interested in purchasing the Valkyrie. I am 180 cm tall, weigh 95 kg and carry 43 of a foot. I have read some reviews and wanted to have your opinion on the boat. Is it comfortable? The mini hatch in the front is an additional option, is it uncomfortable for the legs? Thanks in advance
Hello Andrea! OK, I will try to help you out a bit: I'm 1m74, weigh 70kg and shoe size 41. For me the cockpit is a tiny bit too high and big. Sounds that it can be perfect for you. Of course, don't take my word on this but try it out yourself. Ask your dealer for this, or order one via your dealer without the obligation to buy. You will really love that boat! Let me know how it goes.😊👌
Keep coming back to this video, great paddling 👌 you make it look so effortless! I've paid deposit on a valkyrie and patiently waiting, in a mean time enjoying my Point65 picnic and hoping I'll be skilled enough to have a fun with valkyrie 🤞 Great content Dimitri 👏👏
It is sensational with force 7 indeed. I hope you got your Valkyrie asap. Leading times are sometimes long, see P&H latest blog on their website. Cheers!!👌😊
@@Northseakayak I've been lucky and got it already waiting in the local shop, hopefully I'll manage to collect it this Saturday and have my first valkyrie outing , hopefully I'll be skilful enough to enjoy it and use it as it should be 🤞 hopefully I'll be soon as playful as you are 😅👌
Wil mij daarover eens mailen aub? Is makkelijker dan via deze weg. Vriendelijke groeten!😊 northseakayak@hotmail.com
Thank you Unai! There is a lot to tell about those 2 boats. To be torough, I will share the reviews I wrote about both of them here below. Happy reading!😊👌
@@namefgh you're welcome! If I could only keep one boat, I would go for the Cetus. The Valkyrie is great, but it is a specialist boat, build for speed and downwinders.
Grate Dimitri¡¡¡¡¡¡ Im a spanish paddler from Cartagena (south Spain). I follow you on the internet. Im 2012 I had a bike accident, breaking mi back and a part of my spinal cord. Every doctor say "you never walk again", but im walking. I have had an arthrodesis in my spinal column for 5 years. But later they took it from me because it bothered me and the vertebra had welded perfectly. I was a great practitioner of mountain biking and running walking in the mountains. After the accident I can do some trekkings and some mountain biking, but not like before. Some of my leg muscles no longer work, but Im happy because I can walk!!!. I had a 3 seats dag sit on top kayak since 2 decades. So I decide to buy a one person kayak smaller, just to test, and to try to do some sport, because im a very active person, even after the accident. So I start to enter in this amazing world of kayaks again, but whit much more intensity. Know I have more than 15 kayaks, in diferent styles of kayaking. Very happy whit kayaks, I love they!!. My back is very happy when im paddeling. And I think that the next spring, Know we are still going to the sea whit the kayaks but the water is too could to try, Im going to lear skimo properly. Is not easy for my skimo, because my back is not as well as in a normal person. But im sure that im going to do it!!!! Kayaking is not so popular here in spain, people like more wind surfing, fishing, sky surf, and things like that, but last summer, due to coronavirus, many people buy a kayak!!. I go to the see almost 2 times per week. Know Im learning to be a good playboating boy!!! using my Zegul Arrow Play Lv, other times I use a SeaBird Discovery, or my Ysak from Dag. And now I planing to buy a fast sea kayak for long distance, but whit my weight 59 kgs and my tall 1,66 cm, is not easy, and I dont know what to do. Maybe is the moment to start whit the composite kayaks, or maybe think in a scorpio from H & P, Im not shure. My Zegul is too slow for long distance journey, but I love it!!, maybe because is my size!! I like to invite you, as soon as you planing a hollydays (and the corona crises let us travel) to visit my area in south spain, you can sleep in my farm whit your family, and enjoy kayaking in the mediterranean and in the "Mar Menor" the biggest sea lagoom of Europe, that is so close to where I live. We have very good wheter almost all the year around, suitable for kayaking almost every week in the year, whit very little exceptions. You are doing a great work to spread this sport, if you need any help, and I can do it, just let me know¡¡¡ SO LETS GO KAYAKING!!!!!!!
Hi Dieguito! Thank you for taking your time to write such a story. You are an inspiration for people with (back) injuries. It must be difficult, but also rewarding that you can achieve all those things. You will roll, no doubt about, with such determination. We have never been to Spain before, but thank you for the very kind invite. It is the same over here in Belgium, not a lot of sea kayakers over here as well. Feel free to join on one of our Sea Kayak Training Camps in Croatia.... or if you are interested, we can even join forces to make a SKTC happen in Spain. Anyway, thanks again for your message and have fun out there!!👌😊
@@Northseakayak Great!!! Last year, before the covid crises my girl and my planed to travel to Medjugorje in Bosnia, whit the seakayaks in the roof of our campervan. But I thought that you are from Belgium, is long distance to Croatia. But mediterraneam sea is so kind to humans!!!. I give you and email to contact me, in the next message, and when you send me an email I erase it. I was one of the real beginners of organic food grow in Spain, thats why people call me in Spain "The organic boy". Know, after 8 and a half years from my accident, I decide retire and dedicate my life to filantropy. Teaching people about vegetarianism (35 years on it), fight against drugs, and promote some beautifool sports as kayaking. So I like to help you to organice thinks, of course!!!!. I like the way that you are doing the things whit this story of NORTHSEAKAYAK. Do not be seduced by fame and success, and he is still that kid to whom the supposed "experts" in canoeing, did not pay attention, when he went to ask for information. You can have the best kayak in the world and the best material to practice this sport, but if you look over your shoulder at those who go in a modest 250-euro kayak, you have not understood the essence of this sport at all. I like people with essence, and you give the impression of having it !!! See you in the water!!!!!!. Soonnnnnnnnnnnn...... Grettings from south Spain!!!
