I'm feeling more ok bit by bit with getting others on camera. Never want to invade anyone's privacy. Do get to meet a lot of people when you are hauling a trailer.
Glad you started editing your trip again, and letting me ride along. I stayed at 2 wheels either in 2000 or 2001, when my old 2000 Goldwing was brand new.
Jim I know exactly where you were as you were getting on I-59N (as you left that Waffle House). I can’t count the number of times I’ve been on that stretch of Hwy431. At that traffic light if you had turned right (or South) you would have gone through Gadsden then about 30 minutes down 431 to my home town Anniston. It really is a small world. And after you got onto 59N at the first exit on the right, I used to live about 2 1/2 miles off that exit back in 1988.
@@OldGuyonaBike whenever you do make it back this way, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m in Chattanooga, TN and can help point you to all the good stuff.
I confess to feeling a bit of sadness is seeing the "Red Mistress" on these winding American roads. Whatever the color, look forward to next year's adventure!!
I'm already looking forward to next year's adventure too. It will be an adventure getting used to a new-to-me bike and getting it set up for me. That might take a season's riding.
Jim I am from upstate South Carolina and go to Suches several times per year. You set up where i normally also camp if you had looked across the creek where the other cabins were there are a couple of electric hookups if you ever go back.
No. For the MM I don't think the added weight and maintenance of the brakes are worth it. If I was hauling something over 600 lb, I would seriously consider them.
I've got a generic Chinese GPS with the iGo software. It's been pretty good. If have done routes up in MyRoute and I've also done routes up on the fly. I have to watch out with picking Fastest, Shortess, Scenic modes... the Shortess has put me onto a few sketchy roads or passing thru housing developements lol.
I do have to drop a gear when on the steepest hills but it has not been too bad. I have not done much two up with the trailer in tow. I have had an extra 60 lbs of gear on the passenger seat a lot though. My Mini Mate when fully loaded including a full cooler weighs about 450 lb. The ST does not mind that most of the time but you have to remember you'll be a little slowly getting up to traffic speed from a stop and passing takes a little longer. Not by much.
I have 3 on the radar and another one just came out of the woodwork. I'm just pausing to get better $ resources and will probably make a decision before the snow flies.
Roaming data costs can be a killer in Canada so I have an older phone which I intend on getting on a US carrier when down there. Didn't last year, was carrying it this year before the trip came to an abrupt stop. The cheap Chinese GPS I have with iGo software seems to be holding up well and hasn't gotten me lost although I do question it from time to time. Loudly.
Waffle House. One of my favorite places for breakfast. I even loaded the Waffle House APP on my phone. And I have never had a Waffle House waffle. Go figure. Thanks for the video.
