As someone who was born and raised in NW arkansas for almost my whole life, I admire this place. The people, food, and the vibes you get out of this place is amazing. Not to mention, the education system is great in NWA.

Also I would definitely recommend checking out Crystal Bridges, it's a pretty nice historical arts/ history museum that Bentonville has. I also wanna talk about traffic congestion in NWA, it used to be a problem there since the population of that region almost doubled in the last 1 or 2 decades but they have made improvements as a response such as building highway bypasses, widening roads and freeways, etc. The only problem I have with the NWA’s infrastructure is the lack of east to west access.

There is a pipe dream of upgrading US 412 to interstate status but without serious federal funding it is likely to remain that - a pipe dream. The Siloam Springs bypass is a serious obstacle to that dream as well.

I used to live in Rogers, AR in the 1980’s as a kid. I just drove through there from Little Rock, Arkansas to go to Kansas City and I hardly recognize it anymore. It’s changed so much.

They could consider consolidating the 4 airports in the area only into XNA and ASG. Also the Bentonville segment is mostly a rail trail, making Rogers-Airport and minimum making each stop on the line be a passing loop

Great job on this video, I love all the research you put into everything from population, large industries in the area, road current and future development, and even knowing about the airport was a great add-on.

There are bike lanes in NWA, technically! We built a few shared use paths, where cyclists and pedestrians share a wide sidewalk, at least 8 ft wide with some reaching a comfy 12 ft wide. Most new road projects have a 10-12 ft wide sidepath!

I lived here for 14 years before moving away back to Buffalo NY. 3:58 My favorite place is RIGHT THERE in the Evelyn hills plaza. An arcade called Arkadia Retrocade. I sorely miss it because there's nothing like that back in Buffalo. There also used to be a Wendy's, Pizza Hut, and a Taco Bell there. This video gave me great memories.

Steuart Walton, scion of the Walmart family, collects classic aircraft; some are hangared at Bentonville, but he also recently acquired most of the huge former Paul Allen collection in Washington State.

Bentonville has a lot of bikers without bike lanes because they have a metric ton of mountain biking, thats Bentonville's claim to fame along with the rest of the walmart goodies (museums) . The greenway systems are where the cities want to push bike traffic, there are a growing number of bike protected lanes but they focus around the new walmart headquarters

What an awesome video about an area that im so familiar with! I've lived in the NWA area for many years, its where my dad and his family are from. About 45 minutes south of Fayetteville is my town, Van Buren. When I was like 6, my Gram was a house flipper in the area, and I remember she would take me to this one house she was working on with her company in Springdale, and we painted and played Go Fish. Overall, a great area.

Having lived in the Bentonville area now for 45 years, I have seen tremendous growth. Walmart Home Office, you missed that a new Home Office is under construction in the 8th Street and J Street area. As for bike lanes, Bentonville has them and is adding more, they just are not in the downtown area as of yet.

Notes for the bikers! A lot of the bike traffic is streamed through the Razorback Greenway which spans the whole metro, so the lack of bike lanes can be attributed to their being a much more built out multi-modal path separated from car traffic. With that being said, the city would still benefit greatly with repainting. I can see a lot of Arkansas drivers having a cognitive system reset when confronting a one-way street since even roundabouts already put the fear of God in them, but I'm all for it.

@Nate_Higgins
@Nate_Higgins 6 месяцев назад
I enjoyed the video. Thanks for showcasing. We don't have an abundance of bike lanes, but we actually have a pretty solid, qnd growing, cycling infrastructure. We have Razorback Greenway, which runs from south Fayetteville all the way to North Bentonville with many spur trails. I can ride my bike from my house in south Fayetteville all the way to the Missouri border without hardly having to get on a busy street. Much of the bike traffic doesn't share space with the cars. You will see bike lanes on certain streets that connect the trails, but these are not usually the major artery streets. I'm born and raised in Fayetteville. So, I've seen a lot of growth. There are some things about it I could do without, but it's been helpful financially for sure. Always plenty of jobs, and growing property values, and lots of outdoor activities just out of town in the Ozark hills.

I lived in Fayetteville for 18 years,2001 thru 2019. With the growth rate you'd think the governments of the four cities in the area would make infrastructure improvement a priority. But nine of them seem interested in it. And forget about them working together on infrastructure improvement.

@digitalrailroader

technically, that is actually the replica that is usually parked outside of the Walmart Museum (as you saw in the video, the museum was undergoing renovations at the time of filming); Sam's ACTUAL truck is displayed INSIDE the Museum (and Walmart company Lore believes if you touch the door handle, you will be gifted the same Frugality that Sam had building the company from the ground up)

Everyone In Northwest Arkansas can confirm that springdale sucks. The roads are oversized, it smells, the downtown sucks, (75% of it is empty parking lots) and it's even more car centric than 70s rogers.

Why are we so concerned about Bike Lanes? They don't pay for insurance or registration or taxes to help pay for the bike lanes to change our streets and roads.

Jonesboro-Brookland-Paragould better. Cheaper housing and better high schools. Jonesboro was ranked #4 out of all the cities of 160,000 population or less. Mileage Mike is bias af. He visited Little Little Rock, Fayetteville, Springdale, and Fort Smith, but not Jonesboro. It’s like he has something against it
