The green tint, so nostalgic, that is a awesome bus. I like the MCIs with the slanted windows.

To me, the stainless steel is what makes a bus look like a bus, and a serious looking machine. I'm not to big a fan of the solid white material look of the newer buses. Makes them look PLAIN. The steel ridges gives buses character. The shine of the steel is what sets them apart from other plain white looking buses.

Its amazing how many of these ex Holland Holland American MC 9 s are still around. The large speedo was added in the mid 80s . It was used to record what kind of speeds the driver was doing during the day. It was recorded on a a circular card witch the drivers swapped out every dayday. So this coach has recorded 500000 odd miles since the mid 80s. I use to drive tour bus in The Yukon and Alaska and became good friends with a number of thier drivers inthe 80s and early 90s. They explained the new speedometer and what it was for to me around 1986 If I remember right.

It's a beauty, only problem is after every run you will have to power wash the back end. The Detroit in these buses spray oil all over the back. My high school use to have a bus just like this and I ended up power washing the bus every week paying extra attention to the back as it was basically powder coated in oil from it's Detroit engine. But is a bus I'd love to own. Had good memories and comfort every time I rode on it.

We had some 8V71s that we added so much oil to we never changed the oil. It got so much fresh oil every 500 miles it was like a constant oil change. We did change the filters I believe every 6,000 miles and those buses ran for years. But yeah the backs stayed covered and if you tailgate one, you got oil on your windshield and the company did watch for that.

Hi there! I got a couple of questions for you, for curiosity. 1. What does it take to be sitting directly behind the driver, or in the row across it (you know, the front row on the passenger's side)? Ain't there any organizations or such in the US where I would organize a group trip and we rent a coach bus, assuming one of us has a bus driver's license? (I'm actually from Canada, so I have to find out myself if it exists here too.) 2. Do you know any sales companies in other countries that do bus tours and selling just like you? You know, Brazil, Kenya, Japan, India?

I'm thinking 568 cubic inches of Detroit 8V 71?

Yes and these engines in the bus configuration made about 270hp at 2000 rpm and 770 lbs of torque at 1200 rpm. Different timing and bigger injectors would make power power but cooling could become an issue and the higher powered versions like the truck "318" needed at least a 9-speed transmission to work with that power band, the wide torque band bus version was designed to work with the 4-speed manual or automatic.
