Peoria unified School district in Peoria Arizona had a few of these buses. As a kid going to school, these were my favorite buses. Just because they looked so different than all the other buses.

I know the video is a few years old, but I just wanted to chime in. While it is common for the "Handy Bus" moniker to be displayed on buses equipped for use with children who have special needs? This particular model's actual name is the "mini bird". I grew up riding these until high school when they were retired. In fact, my first ever school bus ride was on an '87 mini bird. :)

With the stock engine going up a steep hill u have to have your foot through the floor unless u disable the governor then she'll move. One thing I like about these is unlike say the vans getting to the dog house is easy as hell. I have heard of people easily engine swapping the 6.2 liter diesel for a 350ci v8

I want a mini bird to carry all my welding stuff in. Sure fleet trucks exist but this keeps the equipment out of the weather, out of reach of tweakers, and it'll turn heads.

It's a shame they stopped making these buses, they're still dependable(but not as a school bus), I wish Bluebird would realize that problem and sell these buses not as school buses
