I found your channel via this challenge. I currently don’t have time to read much, but would love to join along (join you) as much as able. This is something I’ve wanted to do for so long, so I figure this (your challenge) is a great reason (and time) to join in - when someone else is doing this. I understand you are far along, but it will still be enjoyable to catch what I can. Thank you for doing this! Cheers! Happy reading!
I just discovered this channel! So brilliant! In my last year of high school, I participated in an immersive literature program and travelled to England with about a dozen fellow students and teachers all from Canada to study the history of British Literature. We used the Oxford Anthology I and II along with some other books. We read selected passages from the anthologies and had discussions in the first half of the day then ventured out in England for field trips. One of our readings was Thomas Gray's Elegy in a Country Church Yard was followed by a trip to the church that inspired the poem. We also went to the Old Vic and saw a Midsummers Night Dream. The whole think was exceptionally magical. The best education I ever got! I would love to follow the reading with you. So much to read, so little time!!!
This is such an amazing challenge! I look forward to catching up with your first few videos. I actually got rid of my Norton Anthologies after uni because I found them so unwieldy I would always get an individual copy of the text I wanted out of the library instead of use Norton! But I love the idea of using it as a guide through English literature from the Anglo-Saxon days.
Hahah they certainly are unwieldy! It’s working really well as a guide, but I agree - when I can get copies of the full works separately I am reading them that way, just easier to have on the go 😊
Wonderful idea! I’ll have to look into it. I just sent a book on Bede’s work back to the library unread. I’ll have to reorder it. So many great books to read!
Im thinking of purchasing this anthology set & it's fab to know that i can come back to these videos & check in & have a discourse around the reading material.. wonderful idea for a long term reading challenge! Love the dynamic between you & your mum 😊
@@shelfstarters9799 Will do! Not likely till much later in the year though & likely more on a 'dip in and out' basis.. great to have the backlog of these though 💛😊
I do have them. I'm a bachelor English literature student. Reading this book is one of my biggest frustrations, because I've already got tons of other books that I'm reading. Currently, there are 6 of them. I do want to tag along at some point with your "book club". Also, I think it's a great idea that you're doing this as you know there are some who want to get done with this but are too overwhelmed by its gigantic size. Nevertheless, if one wants to have a good grap of the English canon, one should go through this book sooner or later.
Welcome and thanks for watching! It's definitely a lot less intimidating to work through massive tomes like this when you're joined by friends 😊 Hope your studies are going well - let us know if you do join us at some point, we'd love to hear your thoughts!
Tips & suggestions, as per your request: When presentinng the material, you should include which publication you're tackling, especially if you want the audience to follow along. Great video, by the way ... Love your channel.
Years ago, I read poetry collections from my old Norton Anthology and made several review videos as I worked through them. To answer your question, my edition is two volumes published in the 1960s. I have since deleted all those videos, but it was a rewarding challenge. I especially liked reading from authors I was not familiar with. Yeah, take your time and don’t try sticking to a strict schedule is the best advice I can share.
Great advice! Yes, we want to make sure we have time for other reading as well, so we’ll definitely need to take it slow. Any favourites from your reading?
Hi! I'm studying literature part-time as my second degree after having studied journalism and marketing the first time around and I'm enjoying it SO MUCH! My current courses include Restoration and 18th Century Literature (volume C of NAEL), and Critical Theory, but I would like to dig deeper and work my way through volumes A and B and your channel is the perfect companion to go along with my independent reading. I'm looking forward to start!
Ooh I’m kind of jealous, that sounds so fun! That’s great to hear you’re planning to read from volumes A and B in your own time as well - would love to hear what you think of them as you go along! Thanks for watching 💕
Hey, sounds good and I'm also doing major in English Literature from Pakistan. So you could share the pdf or just share the link from where I coud download the 10th edition.
I already had a copy of all the translation by Seamus Heaney. Your Norton anthology journey has encouraged me to read the second half of the poem. Encouraged by your enthusiasm I have ordered The Norton Anthology of English Literature, The Major Authors. Awaiting it’s arrival. I imagine y literary quest will be an echo to your postings. Referring to works you have read. Nd the moving pen haven writ moved on. :-)
This is an amazing project! I have to check the Norton anthologies. I am a science person so my gaps in literature as abismal jajajajja it would be great to check it out! Now I am trying to fill my gaps by reading more diversely but reading in a more structured way would be great! Thank you! Great project!

Oooh this is such a great idea! I thought that my edition was only 18th/19th century, but it turns out it's Vol1 so it has the middle ages in it! I don't think I'd catch up with you, but I might figure out where you're up to and join in!
We'd love for you to join in! Or even just to hear what you think about any of the works we've covered so far - always keen for a bookish chat 😊 Thanks for watching 💕
Without looking at the full list, I bet you a thousand Australian dollars you were very enthusiastic to read all of the Norton Anthology but you gave up before the first 100 pages probably.
