The only thing I remember about the E18 as I drove it from Ålgård to Kristiansand zoo in the summer of 2017 is the tunnels, endless tunnels and the forests which we do not have a lot of in Iceland. This video brought up good memories of that trip. Thank you for doing this and good luck from Iceland!

Well... :D you haven't seen endless tunnels yet if you haven't seen E16 between Gudvangen and Lærdal. It's a 52,5km long stretch, 82% of it is tunnel. :D

The E16 between Bergen and Lærdal is a tunnel haven. There's a dry patch between Voss and Stalheim but the scenery breaks up the never-ending tunnels nicely.

Ahh.. my favourite country. 🤗🤗🤗 I may not come from Norway, but I am in love with it lol Thank you for taking us on your adventures around Norway, and taking the time to edit, upload, and all the other things needed to get it on here. I truly appreciate your tenacity and love of traveling, all that you do to get this on here for us chair and couch potatoes to watch I'm physically disabled and cannot do much traveling anywhere, but with you, I can see and explore other countries in the world. ✌🤭😁🤗🐸

Love to come down to Sørlandet and drive on this road. There is no higways were you can drive as fast as down there yet in Vestlandet.

Østlandet has these types of roads too, but it's way more congested.

You mentioned the bridge replacement. Are they planning on demolishing the old suspension bridge once the new one is complete?
@EuropeanRoads
@EuropeanRoads 5 лет назад
I think so, yes. It is in poor condition. They will construct a new concrete cantilever bridge similar to the 1994 one crossed in the video. The suspension bridge also has a tight 50 km/h turn when going east.

I stay about 45 minutes from the Forth Bridges. When they opened the new bridge last year, the old Forth Road Bridge, which is also in a poor state was left open to public transport. I believe the idea is to take buses and taxis off the new bridge to improve journey times and with a severe cut in traffic, the old bridge should remain operational for years to come. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Z3uemJIAUhA.html

@K-burn One interesting thing is that the new bridge is being constructed between the two existing ones, and it is quite a tight fit! www.google.com/maps/@58.1613393,8.0544063,811m/data=!3m1!1e3 As @European Roads says, the 1956 bridge will be demolished once eastbound traffic has been moved to the new one.

The new bridge will be wide enough for three lanes + a bike/pedestrian lane. The 1994 bridge has two lanes + a bike/pedestrian lane today, but will have three lanes when the new bridge is finished. Two of these six lanes will be bus lanes. There is also a similar project west of Bergen. The old two-lane Sotra bridge will be replaced by a new four-lane bridge. It is proposed to keep the old bridge for bus traffic.

Nice video until the end. While wants to watch someone getting stuck in traffic! I hate traffic and I love these vids when the roads are clear.

@EuropeanRoads

speed limits are low in Norway. It ended with 60 km/h in the tunnel at the end. However, the new norm for motorways in Norway is 110 km/h.
@punchkrunch353
@punchkrunch353 5 лет назад
On the bright side: There is currently no place on earth where it is safer to drive a car than in Norway. Low speed limits is one of many contributing factors.
@nortex010

Also, the new E39 motorway between Kristiansand and Sandnes will be designed for 120 km/h.
@Debre.
@Debre. 5 лет назад
+nortex010 Wait, what? Are they actually going to build a motorway there? I thought it would just be an upgraded two-lane road like the one between Kolomoen and Lillehammer.
@nortex010

They're planning a new motorway, in a completely new alignment. Here you can see the different alternatives: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WKAQp5HHC_4.html
