Norwegian here. Karpe Diem are legends in the earlier (domestic) hip-hop/rap scene in Norway. They started their career in the early 00s. They are known for their immigrant influenced upbringings, which they incroporate in their style. We love them

Yes, the song and the words are in norwegian. Karpe, even though they are young-ish, are getting old in the norwegian scene and music industry. They are really big an inovative, always evolving, and finally they are going deep with their heritage, embracing the sounds of their immigrant roots, not holding back. Both the sound and the messages are telling stories of growing up in Norway with their backgrounds and so on. It is new and fresh and awesome to see them going hard in with accents and all on this album, not being emabarrassed as they might have been when younger in their carreers. It's really beautiful.

As a norwegian i would recommend "lett å være rebell i kjellerleiligheten din" by Karpe. It's their second biggest song;)

Really cool that you chose to react to this Karpe song. The entire album is very good. The two members have roots in India and Eqypt and they have pulled a lot of inspiration from traditional music in these parts of the world and created something they like to call Diaspora-pop. Ive not been very interested in their former music, but Ive fallen in love with this album.

Hi, in case nobody has commented, he's singing about growing up in the world filled with plastic trees, where all people care about is more money. He's singing "hi dad, how are you doing"... Sort of a prayer for a dying world, from our children's perspective. The radio version is better, it has an AMAAAAAZING subwoofer beat to it, I recommend it :)
@Cloudyziza
@Cloudyziza 2 года назад
Also probably worth mentioning that he's promissed to give away almost all profit from his music, and so far he's keeping his word. He's given away his first 1 000 000 NOK .

They just did a huge concert here where I live in Norway, at a football stadium 500 meters down the mountain / hill from me.....this song litterally shook the mountainside last night as they performed it, and the audience all sang their hearts out at the chorus so u could hear it echo through the norwegian fjord for miles...was kinda dope.

Hi 😊 Cool that you responded so great at Karpes new song! I can imagine, you’ll like some of theire older work too. They starded as « Karpe Diem in 2000). In 2020, they started PAF- the Patel & Abdelmaguid Foundation- and gave/ still giving most of their income to refugees, immigrants and people living in asylum. Of course, these songs are written in norwegian- and more difficult to catch. I think you can imagine theire wibes and creativity in many songs and videos! Not at least in the film «Adjø Montebello» 2017 («Farewell Montebello») 👍🤩 Take a good listening,-many pearls in few shells! All the best 🤗

If you watch the videos from the 10 consecutive concerts in Oslo it will have English subtitles. The last album is gold, but the tracks demand reading between the lines. If you know someone who is a first generation immigrant you will get it. The sound picture are fantastic, the dance group...well it is all good! Karpe is geniuses at work. I was lucky enough to attend one of the concerts and it was the highlight of my year.

Their stage show 2022 Oslo Spektrum Arena. Their shows are spectacular. In their Omar Shariff album they mix Norwegian language with Hindu, Arab and other languages. But «spis din syvende sans» is Norwegian lyrics all through, Oslo Spektrum 2013.

They actually bougt the whole villa and made it to an experience type of wonderlandsentre with personal adaption to top 100 individual fans. Only they were invited to the experience. They asked every fan of a thon of questions before they came to the show. "What is your favourite dish"? A fan answered His moms stew. In secret Karpe found out the recipe from te fans mother and served it during the dinner/musicshow. Now that is a dinner and show :P
