That really depends on the job hard to say. You’re education level and work experience will most of the time decide.

Norway is very dependant on network. If you know people and know the language, getting a job is much easier.

@Hei Dinglepop You're living a dream. All people who work with this kind of subject in Norway, says network is very important. On the other hand you won't get a highly educated position if you're not qualified.

In small places and towns - network in order to get a job might be important. But in greater cities - the best way to get a job is through recruiting agencies. Major companies often use English as a company language - which means the language barrier is not a problem. Nevertheless - it will always be an advantage to learn the language. The most important thing for a foreigner to get a job in Norway, is education and skills - not where you come from. If you lack education however - you will have some bigger problems getting a job.

PPP (purchasing power parity) is a better comparison. If an American asks whether you've been to the US, ask them if they've been to Norway; most wouldn't be able to find it on a map. Americans have no problem with a socialised education system, a socialised military, a socialised police force etc. but as soon as you mention socialised healthcare, you are called a communist. And this by a country where every school child has to go through the ritual of swearing allegiance to the flag and the republic, just like they do in fully-fledged communist states. Canada used to feature near the top of those UN tables.

@@TullaRask Keeping them poor, uneducated, and at the mercy of predatory employers. The US has a huge gap between social and economic classes and it's extremely difficult to change class from the one you're born into, social mobility is very low. Here in Norway we could just chose to not work for Amazon or Walmart or whatever, but they don't have that choice so these employers can treat their workers more or less however they want, which is why both of those companies are effectively banned here. You can't just get a good education and change your class that way either because a good education in the US costs a lot of money, and I mean a LOT. So your family is poor, maybe you live in one of the many towns that lost their industry, everyone there is addicted to opioid based pain killers because of predatory pharmaceutical companies and a cynical medical industry that props it up. You're stressed all day, probably have some mental health issues that you can't afford to do anything about, and you have to try to get a scholarship to have even the slightest chance to escape and do something with your life. That makes things very difficult, often even impossible. Whatever you do don't get pregnant, many places in the US abortion is illegal and giving birth in a hospital costs around 10.000 USD assuming there are no complications, so your life is pretty much over if you're poor and get pregnant too early. There are very few unions, so you're not going to get paid well for most jobs you can get without an education. And so on and so forth. If you're poor in the US it's extremely likely you'll stay poor, everything is stacked against you, on purpose to benefit employers, it's the inevitable result of hyper capitalism.

Alot of Americans use cheap midwifes etc because they cant afford to go to the hospital. They charge U for holding ur baby for crying out loud

in case you hadn't realized, i was praising the country I want to move to, not only because of the problems in mine, but because I like it. if you think one person can "fix" a country, have fun trying. i just want to go to a place that is wonderful to me in many ways, and i am positive about it. jeg elsker norge

Numbers don’t have anything to do with policy. Germany have 90 million people, but their system in many ways are same as Norway.

Each state in the USA has it's own constitution, it's own laws, it's own economy, and maintains its sovereignty. The only difference is that the USA is recognized as a country and the EU is not. The EU, just like the USA, has a Supremacy Clause, allowing it to override your countries laws, just as the Federal government can do here.

Basically Norway's healthcare system isn't this bottomless well you can just expect to pay every bill you will ever have, just saying. On the other hand though, poor people in the US will never get insurance because the private one is too expensive.

Some people don't realize there is a difference between what the state has approved as a drud to be used, but don't want to pay for, so even if the doctors first say no, you can pay for your selv. That means the treatment will be safe and you will have your family around you. You will have the possibility to complain if somethong goes wrong, and it's likely to be cheaper in total with transport, hotel etc. I'm not going to say that's always so. I suspect most people in the end travel somewhere for a treatment not approved at home. Some might be a approved in another scandinavian coutry you trust, but some is being treated without really knowing for sure if this is ok. It's not only expensive, but it might also be the last treatment option you have. So you come home with a depth you can't pay and a galloping disease. Now the state will not pay for your treatment because it's not approved here. Lets hope you have family who can just refuse your inheritance when you die. Being sick myself, sometimes I just wish people would realize that this is all they have hot and make the best out of it. What is the last thing on your bucketlist? Do that or sitt by the TV watching your favourite movie for the n'the time. I will probably be spending my last buck on a delivery of food from Foodora and a great movie in my hospital bed.

In the US you have to pay for insurance. That's all included in our taxes. Your insurance and health expenses are also much more expenses than ours because the government negotiate with the pharmaceutical companies on our behalf.

Norway is also great for rich people, its just that we have more safety, regulations, higher taxes and costs. The USA is better for big companies, though I understand what you mean.

@@janpettermathisen2773 I belive it was in the podcast «The Daily» (NYT) from late summer 2021. And I did write new, not better, but it’s maybe not wrong of you to assume it’s better too. It doesn’t mean our equipments isn’t good enough. It means it’s more expensive to run a hospital in USA due to the price on new technology.

@Kevin Sullivan Well, we could compare the USA with Europe (550 million people). It's health care everywhere here in Europe. No, Norway is not perfect, but if a Norwegian political party said they would adopt the health care system in the USA in charge with fewer taxes, they would not get many votes. Why is that? Because we are stupid brainwashed socialists? Or maybe because we see our system works equally for everyone. Believe it or not, but there are also economic benefits with our system due to less crime, but more importantly, healthy productive citizens. And, we don't need everything in every hospital. My answer to this video was about the economic part of it. Why does the USA use quite different numbers in a healthcare budget than European countries? @Jan Petter Mathisen tells me I am wrong. He is probably right in his point of view because there is quite new and up-to-date technology here in Norway, but the hospitals are specialized so we don't need everything everywhere as you do in the USA. Because it's your insurance who tells you what hospital you may use. Then the hospital should of course be prepared for everything. In Norway, we use the hospitals we need. For free Sometimes with help of a helicopter. That's also free.

It should not be a big problem as everyone learns English from them starts watching cartoons, in Norway there is little dubbing of movies "everyone" speaks English

What..?? Norwegians have their own language .. And lots of English was formed by Viking invasions to England. American English is not English. We have open borders to many countrys, and there are alot of people from many countrys in norway, if you go to a building site, i promise you half will be from another country. And by law they cannot be paid low wages

Norway has an agreement with the EU that requires us to have open borders to all EU countries, they can all live and work here indefinitely without a visa or citizenship, so you're totally wrong about that. It's way harder to immigrate into the US, especially after the Patriot Act law that says only people with "special" skills can get a work visa. The only real way to get a US work visa for an average person today is to go there illegally on a 3 month tourist visa and get a job with an employer that's willing to sponsor you. There was even a guy at the airport that asked me a bunch of weird questions about if I was planning on getting a job and so on before he would stamp my passport. I've been to a lot of countries and the US was by far the strictest when it comes to immigration, and that was back when Obama was running the place, I can only imagine what it's like now.
