I think that Fred put's in the best effort here. But they are not trying to sound Norwegian. They are trying to sound like Norwegians immitating Americans. Fred's pronounciation of CAAWFEEE is hilarious because it's so true. I dont' think most Norwegians would pronounce coffee like that in English but whenever they make fun of Americans coffee is a go to word and they say it exactly like that. It would be like a Norwegian comedy show having Norwegian actors trying to sound like Americans trying to sound like British people. Lot's of either the Queens English or bad Cockney. To be fair, most Norwegians I know speak English pretty well with what I call an "Internet English accent" in which the base is like the accent of a person from Iowa in the US but with some pronounciations and vocab from other English accents (both American and not). But this is the a great impersonation of someone who speaks English trying to impersonate Americans. The CAAWFEE was hilarious. Like it's based on my own American accent (from the Great Lakes region) but me saying coffee and me making fun of my own accent saying coffee sound way different. This is the typical mix of nasally Great Lakes accent and California accent that no one would ever have (maybe someone who moved from Ohio to California?) that has been exaggerated times 10. It's like how Americans also use a mix of the Queens English and Cockney exaggerated times 10 when doing British accents.

it's not so much about the accent, it's the exaggerated behavior and Norwegian depiction of American stereotype.

@TatankaTaylor
@TatankaTaylor 3 года назад
That was the point. The accent in the Californians is an exaggeration of a very particular accent from a very specific area of California. They reused that accent here because foreigners usually try to do that accent to sound American. In the UK, it was popular to try and imitate a Texan or Southern accent to play Americans on their telly.

@@mohenn22smith27 so the American accent was emotionally touched by the Norwegians you say? How affectionate of them! Seriously though, we can all Google definitions nowadays but some people prioritize being an incompetent grammar nazi over double checking the facts i suppose...
