As a single woman I love to travel and many times I do it alone and this is a great alternative. Years ago I paid double occupancy for a cabin. This is the way to go now for me. I’ve seen other videos about the “studios” but yours it the most detailed and inspiring. You pointed out things others hadn’t noticed. Thanks for a great video. Happy travels!
I'm so happy it helped you. That's why I wanted to make this video. It's a lovely option for solo travelers for sure. Happy cruising and thanks for watching.
Unforunately, for many people paying double the cost for a studio is not feasable. I would have thought they would not have done this as it is aimed for singles, so what is the point if people have to pay double the cost for a small space? It would be better then to pay for a inside cabin if people are going to have to pay double!
Hey, I am doing the solo and I did the solo balcony and then Started to check in on the prices and on the bliss you can get a family balcony or whatever you can pull it up and they go by they start out with the pricing per person to throw you off but then once you get in it goes per cabin, and I have noticed that for the solo balcony cabin, and then you can get just a cabin that sleeps for for the family or whatever yeah it’s only $150 difference for the same cruise same day and I’m like what the heck I thought the whole point of doing the solo was so that you weren’t having to pay for two people but that’s not the way it’s turning out I mean why are you gonna get? I’d rather get an inside room that’s a lot bigger than the solo big deal you have a little teeny area that is called your own but really you’re better off just paying 150 $200 more and getting a bigger inside if you’re gonna be inside but even the balcony I mean people are just seeing oh solo and they’re automatically assuming that they’re not having to pay for two people and that it’s cheaper. Yeah people do you research not not with Norwegian they are taking advantage. We are not getting a break at all at all and shame on Norwegian for doing that because they just say solo cabin. The inside solo cabins are like on the blister like 99 ft.² and you can get an inside cabin. That’s much bigger than that for the same price, so follow through and check your pricing and watch what Norwegian is doing. You’re not getting a break at all. norwegion is charging the same price for the studio balcony cabin as they are for the family balcony cabin. It’s like $150 difference on the Alaska cruise in May and the one in October but I checked it and if they’re gonna do the balcony for the solo and charge the same price make it, Haven, give us the access to the Haven restaurant and the Haven deck but you’re not basically they would say what you’re paying you have to pay double because you have to pay for two occupants it well no they’re doing they started out like I said per person so people just assume that’s what they’re charging per person but then as you go into finishing it goes per cabin per state room and you were paying the same thing that someone with four or two the whole thing was about it should be half the price I mean that was the whole point. Now they’re gonna charge the same price that they would for family of four then make those Haven cabins, but shame on Norwegion for not being transparent because no matter who goes everybody has to pay the taxes and have to pay the port fees so when it goes per cabin, that’s for the cabin itself that doesn’t include your taxes or the port fees, but I can tell you one thing I’ve done nothing but cruise Norwegion, but if they don’t make this right, then they can forget about me ever cruising their cruise line again I will start venturing now and checking out other cruise lines everybody that are solo travelers do you research and we need to come together on this and make Norwegian make it right and I have already contacted my travel agent through Norwegian and I want to hear what kind of cockamamie crap they come up with to justify charge in the same price
@@babybunnies It seems you are confused about how this works. Solo cruisers normally pay what is called the 'single supplement' (or extra payment) when booking any type of cabin OTHER than a solo studio cabin. These studio cabins DO NOT have the single supplement, which is why it is the cheapest option for solo cruisers, and it is also the reason why this category of cabin was introduced in the first place...so that solo cruisers could save money. Therefore, there is NO "double payment" for solo studio cabins.
Many people seem to think one needs an apartment on a cruise ship to be comfortable. How much time do they plan to stay in this one spot? There is more than enough room here even if a couple were able to book it. I think it's a fabulous space!! Thanks!!
I really enjoyed my 1st NCL cruise a couple months ago on the Bliss and it definitely sold me out two studio cabins , so much so that I booked 2 more cruises and cancelled with another line. The Prima is really beautiful too
I booked a studio on Epic last year. Then NCL offered me an upgrade to an unknown cabin, which ended up in the aft cabins. What an awesome trade, loved waking up with Mount Vesuvius in my view. I would recommend trying to upgrade if you are booking a studio. Just make an offer and they will most likely give you a better cabin.
Thanks for the video. Unfortunately, i did my first balcony in 2022 and now i am hooked on them. I wish they would provide outdoor views for their studio lounges.
plenty enough comfort, space, privacy for exploring the world. i would love to travel the world (on super easy mode) on this small room and unlimited buffet food everyday!
I've got two solo cruises this year. A 7 day Alaska in less than two weeks, and a 21 day Canal, in October. In 2024, NCL charges $35 a bag for laundry, so I'll be doing some sink washing on the three week cruise. Alaska on the Bliss, and Panama on the Encore.
Great video of the studio cabins that NCL offers. I'm looking at the Prima when she comes to NYC in April 2025. One question - no refrig? Also do you have a tour of the rest of the Prima? Thanks again and Happy Cruising?
Thanks for watching! No fridge. I have a series of videos linked in the description box for the Studio tour. Here is the ship tour. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kLH1j1gUm8E.htmlsi=O63a6Yxm9raHzLRE Happy travels!
WOW! That's pretty cool, the shower is bigger than I've seen in a lot of full size rooms that have a little corner unit. The lounge is awesome. Looks like a great place to mingle with other passengers. I wonder how it compares in price to regular interior room?
Hi. Thanks for watching. It's a decent option for a solo traveler. The prices vary a lot based on season/itinerary. They change a lot and are available on the NCL website for each cruise. Happy travels!
I just finish a cruise on this ship 2 weeks ago. Nice ship but not big enough for how many people are on it. Was always curious about the solo cabins. not to bad to save $500 or so
That's a good question. I like the lounge in the Studio. But you have more space with two beds in the inside. I kind of prefer the studio though if they were the same price.
Thanks for watching. Your cruise is the same as anyone else with all the same privileges. This is just a separate studio stateroom "neighborhood" if you will. Happy cruising.
The prices vary for all cabins based on the season and itinerary. Generally, though, these solo cabins will be about 125 percent to 150 more expensive per cruiser. They are also about half the square footage of the standard inside cabin. But this could be a good deal if you were traveling solo and had to pay the single supplement (200 percent of fare.) Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.
Thanks so much for watching! I had fun making this and enjoyed finally staying in one of these studios. Sorry, I didn't see any list, but I also wasn't looking for it. Happy travels!
I saw pics on a other video of solo group "meet and greet". 76 solo room? But usually 20-30 travelers? I'm going to attend on 1/5/24 to Carribean. Studio 13577
@@InTheLoopTravel since you won’t say how much YOU paid for that cabin…then one would think you’re being paid by getting a free cruise or you’re faking it and are just giving them publicity.
I have never cruised. To be honest, I am a weirdo loser who hasn't been able to take a vacation since his childhood (And I am 45 now.), but I am considering trying a cruise now and the one where Norwegian Prima goes to Bermuda and stays there for 2 days is at the top of my list, just because I like the idea of having all that time to actually explore a place. The thought of just having like 4 to 6 hours at a port seems lame and anxiety inducing to me. I don't have much free time, but I do have a dysfunctional thing where I can only enjoy free time if I have a lot of it and don't have to hurry anything and I know how fast and frustrating 4 hours can be over, especially when you are seeing a place for the first time and first need to find your bearings and figure out what to do. The reason why I write this comment here under this video is that I would be a solo traveler, if I did it and so taking one of those solo cabins would be the most sensible thing to do, but I am still considering dishing out the 7000 Euros for a 2-person balcony cabin, as idiotic as that would be. It isn't about the space. I wouldn't mind a small, cozy cabin. That might even enhance the "I'm on a ship."-feeling and atmosphere, but the reason why I am considering a cruise in the first place instead of some all inclusive resort on land is that I want to see and experience the sea. It is depressing that they don't give you that option as a solo traveler unless you pay double for another non-existing person. I'm not like those women who recently made the news several separate times by demanding aircraft be made bigger to accommodate extremely obese people though and I accept the realities of economy and technology. I guess I'll just have to cough up the money. It is just that this might be the only cruise I ever take in my life, if I end up doing it and I don't want to diminish the experience and having my own balcony to just sit and enjoy the ocean view and the breeze at any time, even at night, seems important to me. Looking at statistics on divorce and young people not dating and getting married in the first place anymore and all that, I bet that sooner or later the cruise lines too will have to expand their offerings for solo travelers. Would be a bummer if I'm just too old and too late to take advantage of that otherwise horrifying societal trend.
Thanks for checking out the video. If you spend about $7000 for a cruise, you might even be able to have a better cabin with a nice balcony on a luxury ship that you will really love. Happy travels!
@@InTheLoopTravel Thanks for the reply. Yeah? That 7000 number is the price the NCL website gives me for a simple balcony cabin onboard Prima on a 2 week cruise next April, with internet and the drinks package. I didn't test it, but I assume the better cabins would have been more expensive.
I really liked the coffee machine! I was on the breakaway. The first day they had no cups or glasses for the drinks and be forewarned on the last day they don’t have any cups or snacks. No idea if the coffee machine worked.
Small but perfectly formed I’d say! Very stylish decor but I’d feel claustrophobic without access to either a window or a balcony. Lounge area is a good idea too. Again, very modern and stylish. 👍
You have the virtual port hole which probably gives you a better view than some actual port holes. I've seen them on other ships and they do give you feeling of having a port hole.
I was in a solo studio on the Escape in March. Convinced me to book my retirement cruise on the VIVA in Nov '24 for the TA crossing. The PRIMA Studio layout is better than the Escape. Hoping that VIVA is the same. Plenty of space to store clothing, personal items, a little wiggle room. Great review.
Yea, the look and feel of the Studio stateroom and the Studio Lounge are different on Prima from the ones on Escape ... I bet the designs for these solo amenities would be repeated on Viva since it is in the same class [of ships] as Prima. I like both Studio stateroom designs the same amount, but I like the studio Lounge on Prima better (I think its an improved design ... feels more homey
I just got home 2 days ago from my 7 Day cruise on the Prima and stayed in Studio cabin 13527. I loved it! It was perfect for me (6'2" 235lbs) and I had no issues. The shower and bathroom surprised me with how roomy they are. My last cruise on the Pride of America was a Balcony cabin and the bathroom was nearly unusable. The studio on the Prima...excellant!
What an odd design flaw for NCL to assume that as a solo traveler, you’ll never have company in your cabin, and therefore will never need any privacy in the bathroom. Sheesh!
People have mentioned that. What kind of company? Lol. Would it really matter. There are ways to work around that I'm sure. Thanks for watching. Happy travels!
Love it! I've stayed on a few Norwegian Solo Cabins on Breakaway and Bliss. The layout was a toilet along in a closet type space, shower in middle of living room which left every little room to turn around or bend and the sink was in the middle of the room, small and so the water would fall on the floor. This is much better! Question, did you shower with the door open for more room or close it?
I liked it. It felt like my little secret space. I tried to shower with the door open, and you can for sure, but it was spraying a little bit of water around the room. Thanks for watching!
@@InTheLoopTravel Thx for sharing. On another video, the presenter mentioned to leave the shower door open for more space and my thought was that the water would spray out. As long as it was roomy in the shower. I'm a large guy and had a hard time showering in the older solo cabins. I could hardly turn around. Since I had a spa pass, I would sometimes shower there before dinner.
This video was very helpful. I thought this type would be a bit too small for me even though I'm small. Looks perfect!😆 I just returned from a cruise with Royal and stayed in my first inside cabin ever, it was comfortable but there were no Solo cabins, so Ipaid the price for two which was less expensive than for one. I'm looking for a better cruise line now. I usually stay in an Ocean View with a Balcony or Junior Suite . This Solo lounge is a hit for me and it was attractive. Thanks for this tastefully done video.🎉👍
What a great video! I'll be staying in one of the Prima's studios next year, and this was the perfect video to see what it will be like! I love that there's a private lounge to grab snacks and drinks! As another tall guy, was the bed long enough to keep your feet from hanging over the end?
What if you invite someone to your cabin and you have to pee? Even if its another single person of the same gender. I dont think I like tht see through.
Thanks for the video. My Prima cruise will be my fourth studio cruise and I love them, so much I've been booked for a very long time and your video is the first one I've bothered watching to see what the studio on Prima even looks like. Studios are the perfect size for me, I sleep and change clothes in my cabin and that's about it. As for no bathroom door, with the shower door swinging out the way it does you actually do have a door!
Been watching a bunch of videos on cruise ship studio rooms, and have really learned a lot from this one. I love the open shelving and even the open bathroom design, although a door on the toilet would have been a nice touch. I think I'll book a studio on my next cruise!
Thanks so much for watching. I'm happy it helps a bit. I thought the absence of a door was odd. But then I realized that it's not needed when you're alone in the room. Happy cruising!
@@InTheLoopTravel Since the shower door swings out to close the space to the bathroom you have a door after all. As for it being clear glass, 99.99% chance no one is visiting you in there and needs to use your bathroom lol
Going on my first cruise in October. Going solo and this is one reason I chose norwegia for the studio cabins and lounge. I'm on norwegian joy out of NYc, 4 days to Bermuda. I'm assuming cabins be very similar. Starting with a short cruise for first time...and have also thought of looking into employment in a cruise ship casino so figure short cruise good place to start
Thank you Thank you Thank you. im booked on February 2024 cruise have been a little concerned but after watching this video im at ease and super excited about going
Hi there. Thanks for watching. I would say it doesn't really matter. I suppose I prefer to be right in the level of the lounge for quick access to the drinks and snacks! Happy cruising.
Thanks for watching. They differ by cruise and itinerary. They are more in Europe and less expensive in the Caribbean. They sell out quickly. Happy cruising.
Interestingly, I don't stay up to the wee hours anymore. Too old for that. But I suppose I might have let a door slam shut on this free video tour of the cabin as I tried my best to make it a nice production while filming alone. Funnily enough, this was a special preview cruise and I was the only person staying in the Solo Studio cabins during this three-day voyage out of Galveston. I had requested to be out there so I could show potential cruisers what it's like. Thanks for watching and happy travels.
Another RU-vidr said that soft drinks where free in Prima lounge, can you Confrim? I stayed in a solo lounge on the breakaway, and I really enjoyed it especially the coffee machine. I did not participate in any of the solo meet ups. attempted to go to one. It was in a bar. I couldn’t figure out where they were so I left I was on a group cruise so I had plenty of people to meet with and dine with.
t's my understanding that you have to use your seapass card to get drinks. They were free when I sailed and likely when this other person sailed because the ship was so new and the system wasn't fully up and running when we were aboard. Thanks so much for watching. Happy cruising.
@@InTheLoopTravel I use to get sea sickness easy if I got an inside cabin that's what I stayed in at the beginning of my cruise life.. So I started getting a balcony suits somewhere in the middle of the ship on the 6 th. to 8th. deck... So the rocking is less noticeable it helps allot I still take those pills but some cruises I take none.... I guess after taken 32 ocean cruises and 4 river cruises the sea sickness isn't as bad as it use to be.... And also being a much smarter experienced cruiser...
how crowded did the lounge get from your experience? Is there a wide age range of studio guests? Are people social? I'm 31 and I don't have much a social life so I was exploring ways to vacation alone and meet new people. This seems more viable than flying off to a foreign country by myself. Thanks for sharing.
The lounge was not at all crowded on my trip. I think it varies from cruise to cruise. I have heard good things about a good range of ages, though, and some nice meet and mingle type events. Cruising is a good idea to meet people overall. Just say hi and where are you from and you'll likely find some great new friends on board. That's always been our experience. Happy travels. Thanks for watching!
Fantastic, if you were able to choose your room again. Would you prefer floor 12 or 13? Is it better to be on the same floor as the Studio Lounge? Thanks 🙏
I'm not sure that it would matter. If you have any mobility issues, then being in 12 makes the lounge much easier to access of course. Thanks for watching.
After seeing the stairs I called to change from 13577 to somewhere on deck 12. Agent told me that adjacent to the stairs is an elevator... anybody else notice it?
I am a solo but I would wait for cruises with low or no supplements over this studio. Sorry it is too small and even if it is "functional" and "cozy" it is a box and looks claustrophobic. No outside views, no air and frankly no way to tell day versus night. I guess it works for some people but not for me.
Thanks for watching. I appreciate it. The food is complimentary. The beverages cost money. Just cruisers with key card access can enter the Studio complex.
I really like that studio cabin. The bathroom is different than the original layout from other ships. I think I would miss the window to the hallway, too.
The absence of the window to the hallway is really irrelevant because you can't see anything out of that window anyway, so it really makes no difference.
Great video. Love the studio. I will be cruising on the Epic in a studio and the one on this ship looks a lot nicer. The only design issue that I can see is the bathroom being al glass and visible. It looks great. But if you happen to bring someone back to your room for a night cap. Using the restroom is going to be a slight issue :)
nice single room. I used to travel solo on the SS Norway years ago, and their single rooms were small like that, but not as modern--and no lounge or porthole channel
@@InTheLoopTravel oh yes, no problem, the room was nice. When I cruise, I only basically sleep, shower, get dressed in the room, most of my time is spent up on deck somewhere or on an excursion. I wish hotels would build some single rooms
