Some years ago, i was on a vacation roadtrip with a friend (we're from the Netherlands by the way) in Norway. When we were around the little town of Hornness, Aust-Agder, on a Moose spotting trip in our car, we encountered a big group of Norwegian military personnel on the road doing some kind of drill i guess in the forest. I decided to wave at them and to my surprise the whole bataljon waved back. Never had i seen such a friendly military force before lol.
I am from America and I think we have some very good police officers here. Many people on here make them sound so bad. Yes they are armed and some do some bad things, but for the most part, they are nice people trying to keep us safe in our towns and in our homes. Like in other places, they save lives, help people to follow the rules of society and meet the tough demands of the public to perform a tough, thankless job. I like our police in America for the most part.
Agreed. Usa gun and quite approachable. I lived in UK for 12 years the police where quite friendly. They walked the beat. They always waited with me if I needed a taxi at night if I was on my own
Here Now lol I am positive along with the nice curtains we glimpsed, a very clean neat tidy everything in its place and a place for everything... I am sure though there are glamper touches about. Nice pot holders or mugs that say something nice day. Such things.
Any sane person would certainly visit Norway before they visited gun crazy, angry U.S.A. .. and I live in the U.S.! All these guns do NOT make us feel safer... they just instill more fear. The idea of militarizing our local, community police is a frightening prospect. Power corrupts.
I watched a video about the Norwegian prisons and how rather than punish people you try to rehabilitate them instead so they can go back into the population and be good people rather than criminals! Just another thing Norway has got right, keep up the fantastic work Norway who knows one day the rest of the world might copy you??? 🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴👍👌
Yes, we have a good philosophy when it comes to prison treatment. But it is under pressure. The most conservative and right-wingers want more punishment and less rehabilitation. Unfortunately inspired by the United States and others
YOURWAY2NORWAY yes and look how much crime these other country's have, please Norway stick to your values, we have followed other country's now we have a lot of gun crime and a serious knife culture amongst our teens and twenties 👎
Hi Ronald have you watched the video called Michael Moore returns to Norway it shows you the difference between Norwegian and US prisons very scary, but on a lighter note have you done a video on Norwegian night life? If not that would be a fun one to watch, cheers Damian
I really like idea of this. I'm in America, where our police like to cultivate the SWAT team image of having the biggest guns, the toughest body armor, and cars that rival the Batmobile for gadgets. They rival the military with their aggression and combat readiness. There are a lot of wonderful people that work for the police, who are there to protect the citizens, but the image is being the biggest, toughest dog on the block, who will destroy you if you cross them. I really prefer the idea of the caravan police. PS. Ronald looks like he could be Robert Palmer's brother.
D C Unfortunately, I see this a lot here in California. More towards the Bay Area & L.A. & it’s getting worse. Do you live in a small city or rural town?
Really nice video, Ronald and Mads! You two are always so much fun and a much needed breath of fresh air! After all the violence that has happened here (USA) recently I am grateful for the chance the two of you give us, to smile. It is comforting to know that there is someplace in the world that is as wonderfully peaceful as it is breathtakingly beautiful.
Thank you Katherine Rojas Williams :) I think we feelt some of the same, when making this. Guns, violence and war can never be the answer! Of course we have our issues and challenges with criminals, but we try to always use dialouge as a main tool. And I think this police RV is a tool for communication between the police and young people..
I am from the UK and wanted to tell about our Police, they do not carry firearms and in normal situations you can ask for help and advice without any fear at all .They are polite and friendly. Also they are along with Fire and Ambulance known as first responders if you call 999 the call centre may send whoever is free at the time and nearest to you.. Thanks for all your videos , they are down to earth and fun.
Thanks a lot for sharing your UK story and the pride - I feel you have - for your system. I love the fact that a country like yours still can have this kind of non-violence attitude. It gives me hope for the future. And of course; thanks for your nice and supportive words for our work :)
I agree, UK police are generally good... there are armed police in London because of terrorism, but they're not so scarey. One of them talked to my little boy after we came out of a museum and was nice and friendly, but I don't like guns on streets whoever holds them and don't want it normalised.
That song in the background took me right back to Kindergarten. “She’ll be comin’ ‘round the mountain when she comes! ... She’ll be drivin’ six wide horses when she comes! ... “
I like your videos...but I want to know if you've made a video on whether and how people work in Norway. I'm also interested to know if people farm...especially if you can do a video on horse, dairy, or other agriculture...? Thank you 👏
Same in Australia. Only our police have very fast cars because of the long distances here. Our police can carry weapons if the situation demands it but they have to go through a lot of protocols for them before they can use the gun. Most of the time they have baton and tazer. We also have police buses. But we call them booze buses. Not because they bring the alcohol but because they set up the bus on the side of the road and you must drive past slowly and stop so that they can breath-test you. If you have alcohol on your breath you can lose your licence. So we don't really like our booze buses. But our cops are generally very nice people.
Hei Ronald! I was looking for some comment from a Brazilian but I didn't find it. As almost always I don't have good news. I live in a city called Santos, in São Paulo state (with biggest population). We have three types of police: military (each state has yours), civilian (each state also has yours - they investigate crimes) and federal. Military from São Paulo state is the most violent according UNO. All of three police has fire guns, even people who works in burocratic stuff (but these people don't necessarily carry their guns with them). Anyway, as almost always, world has a lot to learn with norwegians. I hope to live there one day. Thanks for another cool video, guys! Obrigada!
+Maria Amaral Sounds very complicado. So many layers of control. I am sorry. One police is enough. Siempre ben venido na Noruega Maria Amaral. Obrigado 😗
Here in the US there is a RU-vid Channel about self protection and the use of firearms. Almost all of it is out of Brazil where brazen thieves are shot to death by armed victims. Most are killed by police officers in civilian clothing. I am always saying...is everyone in Brazil a police officer?
Oh, that is not a good feeling to have! Due to high terror alert, police in Norway carried guns for a year I think. And suddenly we were also feeling nervous when we saw the police. So glad they changed it back to normal. Thanks for sharing Tiffany, we always appreciate your stories and comments :)
I love this. Yes, that is how it should be. My grown son abused me, and hurt me, and when the police came, they said I didn't want help because I was crying. Your way is better. I love the 'car caravan'. When my grandson was little he called a camper a "house car". Great video. Thank you, Ronald and Mads.
Police in Scotland are mostly unarmed. There are a few armed police at the parliament and airports and stuff. Love your videos, they were really useful when visited oslo last month :)
I worked with Norwegian Police Officers in Bosnia as a part of the United Nations International Police Task Force. Very friendly and disciplined professionals. I live in the US, have been pulled over a couple of times by highway patrolmen... they had their hands on the holsters while approaching my vehicle. To their defense, people in the US, generally speaking, are not like Norwegians in any way, shape or form... Being a Police Officer in the US is a hazardous vocation, to put it mildly...
You are so on point! My husband and I have very good friends in Norway, and when we visit we always spend time with them. His wife is a police officer who rides on horseback. I got to visit the stables and see her at work. Incredible environment!! Everyone was so friendly and not have that macho attitude! Their son is in the military and is in special ops. He doesn’t have that badass attitude like the guys in US. Another son is in Securitas, and I am so impressed that they are taken seriously in Oslo. Here, it’s treated like a low end job. They are always so kind and never speak about their work. I live and teach in a very tough city 20 miles from San Bernardino,Ca. It’s very disappointing that our POTUS thinks that teachers should be armed in the classroom. We have lockdown drills and more often than earthquake drills lately! I wonder why my husband doesn’t want to move back to Norway!! LOL.
Thanks for sharing your story about your Norwegian friends. I feel kind of proud reading it. As you have seen, I don´t like guns and violence. For us Norwegians it is difficult to understand what rules, norms and morals you have attached to weapons. We must only respect that you have a different point of view and culture. But totally agree with you - teachers should not learn to shoot to kill. It is an overly large responsibility and task. Talk to you soon Donna :)
OMG! I watched again and again..you are doing this stuff in a amazing way,I cant help mesmerizing..the thing is that because of your videos I am so curious about norway,I will come definitely for a visit:)
You are SOOOO welcom. Thanks for a very nice comment. Love that you watched it again and again :). Thats the subscriber we want. When coming to Norway, give us a hint :)
Enjoy your peace in Norway, Ronald. And I like your positive attitude about police. Here in the states- it’s out of control. Not just police but everyone. Example- the Las Vegas massacre. I love the US, but it’s just getting consistently worse. Hatred, anger, racism, you name it. It’s here. BTW: cops here have AR-15s in their squad car and they are known to carry when off duty (how do i know, my bro is a cop here). He has his own gun under the seat of his PERSONAL CAR (but civilians do it too). So yes- everyone here is scary.
Keep praying to God, so as stray people find wisdom/peace/light/friendship. Your sincere prayers will be extremely effective, according to Eastern Orthodox Christian Saints books. It is like waves of positive energy affecting others in need. You could also heve a negative impact, though, with waves of negative energy, if you are bad/judgemental/criticizing/proud/distant against various sinners. I shall pray for your Country and your peace.
Sad to read your comment 904 CZV. The situation you describe seems so dark. US is supposed to be the shining light of civilization. Hope that love enters reality asap! Thanks for sharing
904 CZV yea honestly this year has been the worst here first because of Trump and people who are easily persuaded by his ideas and the shootings as well
@@YOURWAY2NORWAY It''s really only true in cities. when you visit New England you'll see. When I was young everyone left the keys in the car over night - no problem. Go to the store, you can leave your car running - no one would take it. That has all changed with "diversity" . We do now lock the doors at night, but I still don't even have a key to my house so we still don't have to lock our houses even when we're not there. The police are now armed to the teeth and get this...go to Israel for training, quite scary but the police will help you in a town or rural area.
My nephew is a police officer here in the US. He's a great policeman and a great person. He has a batman, spiderman, captain America, and ironman costume, he will put on one of these costumes and visit sick children in the hospital to brighten their day.
When I studying in college in CA. there was a Norwegian professor doing research at my university One day we were having a discussion and a then police helicopter flew by. He then he asked what was going on. ," Is there a war?" I simply laughed and said "no they are just looking for someone or its another high speed car chase."
This is a wonderful philosophy toward policing!! Much better than - ahem - some other places... in my opinion. How does Norway treat criminals? Do you have prisons? I imagine the focus is on rehabilitation rather than revenge. Like, for example - what happened to the 4 people from the orange sock case?
Thank you for this very informative video blog. I like the idea of camping police and it suggests that the people of Norway are supportive of camping and that it might be nice to tour around Norway in a motor-home. Are the motor-home campsites good in Norway? Perhaps you could show us a typical Norwegian motor-home camp site, let us see the facilities and understand the costs? I hope so.
Yes I like our coppers too. Asked a cop once where he got his nice tats. Without breaking a grin he said 'jail'. He only started grinning when I started laughing about 10min after looking perplexed.
Hello from Finland once again. As a camper car owner and Norway lover I really appreciate that police car! Hopefully I will see one with my own eyes on my next trip to Norway :)
Hello - so nice to hear from you again!! Maybe if you go camping in the city center of Oslo you will find it ;) But I think both of us know where nature in Norway is best for camping!
I have never visited Oslo, but only countryside of Norway. But i have plans to visit. I want to visit Sandefjord too, because I want to bring a bottle of Finlandia vodka to Tor "apetor" Eckhoff, who is the Norway's biggest gift to RU-vid :D
Her på grensen (Texas-México) ... we have a variety of Law Enforcement, local police, State Troopers, Border Patrol, etc. They're all actually nice, and they're quite tolerant of everybody. People probably expect different here, but that's not the case, it's peaceful. We have camping too, lots of camping. Everybody likes camping.
MotherFatherGoddess Earth Texas is a big State. I am only talking about where I live, which isn't Dallas or Laredo. You're making an assessment of the general, based on the particular.
I love that each country has a unique style of livin. In America this would never work because honestly some people here need rehabilitation. Some don't have the skill to think critically before voting for someone that just acts like a child. Anyway I love all countries because every single one is unique in its own way.
Hi Javier Barillas :) Incredibly nice reflection on this video. I totally agree with you that each country has its unique way. Always interesting to hear about other people's solutions. Thank you for sharing and commenting.
Hehe, yes thats a hot topic ;) We have actually made some variants on the issue. Check these out: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-J1vbhyPwPoA.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lSU1Pj5MZfs.html
OMG what was that funniest show on telly, where a Italian mafia ganster was sent to Norway ( lol) to hide and his shock of living there mixed with his style of dealing with people. He would bribe regular folks to get a better service, and they would be horrified. omg what was the name of that show! I loved it. PS. The mafia man became most sweet gentle man and easy to live amongst that village, although he spoke with the hard accent of a Italian New York .
The police campers look very sporty! Do they make mattpakkes to take to work, or do they actually look forward to lunch, with riverside campfires and so on?
I am trying to picture a U.S. fast speed police chase, 90 or 100 miles an hour, with the police in a camper instead of a car! A camper with curtains at the window! Too funny!! But I'm glad you have peace in Norway.
Ronald, I would like to see what police officers do inside the camper. Can you ask them to let you film inside, you know, as a public relations piece? You say that the Norwegian police are really nice, so maybe they will agree.
In my U.S. city, we have a big police RV that comes out during major holidays when there will be lots of drinking, etc. They do road checks and inside the RV is the magistrate that will decide if you get a fine or go on to jail, IF caught breaking the law😉🇺🇸
Hehe, first of all; camping is a passion in Norway. So the police are just like any Norwegian who wants to drive out in the wilderness. No, I think this is for educational reasons. Probably for meeting young people. A camping car takes away some tension you know. Thanks for commenting :)
Hi its me Aisha from Pakistan .i regularly watch your all awesome videos .iam trying to learn norwegian as iam waiting to come there..i wish such type of Police i could see here in my country too:(
I have hardly ever even spoken to a policeman in my Country of Canada... One day there was a knock on my door... It was a policeman... he said he was checking up on me because someone had called the Police to say they had not heard from me and were worried... so that was my Canadian Police experience. When I lived in Spain, it was a totally different experience... well, Franco was in power then and the Police visited my home often... yes, they would come by for a little "chat" and hope we would give them some food... they would look around and just "take" anything they wanted... They had total authority and everyone knew give them anything they want... that was a Dictatorship.... Guardia Civil.... you had better be afraid of them for sure...
I believe (like anyone really cares, but I felt like sharing) that the attitude of the Norwegian police reflects the attitude of the Norwegian people; work it out, take care of it yourself and get some extra help if you need it. Am I right? Also, some comments on here show that many people do not remember that the United States are a collection of 50 different countries cooperating with each other under the Federal Government, which was supposed to take care of borders, trade, wars; not State matters like police. The Feds come in when the State asks them to in the form of an emergency declaration. So, police in Texas will be very different from someplace like Maine. There is no one policy for civic police.
Thank you so much for doing this videos! It looks so weird to me, here in Isreal I don't think policemen can act like that. (hope one day it will be like that) but I didn't really understand, what is inside of the 'big' police car?
Hi tova g. This spesific police caravan is more for educational reasons I think. So they maybe have a screen to show some films or things like that to young people. Its more a metaphore for how we like to live in Norway - without too many guns and violence. Thanks for sharing your story from Israel :)
in 25 years working as paramedic in New York city, and in the Bronx(imagine a terrible violent very dangerous drugged and ganged area), I was working Friday night, and the Saturday night. In all that time I never had one problem with anyone. I treated everyone as a good caring human and 99% responded with same. some drugged people were incapable to know their self und the surroundings. Heir in Michigan, my sweet husband complained to a rookie policeman who had come with a few others to review a dog barking issue we requested help with. Hubby was getting annoyed that they were going to leave without doing anything ( we had this problem a few times) and the rookie got right up with his hackles, put his hand onto his gun as he was walking towards hubby, ach! Luman did not help the issue as he told the policeman “what, are you going to shoot me now for this”??? Of course that made the young greenie more angry, and I sort of dragged Lu off back away from that anxious police man. It is so bad heir in America, everyone in Michigan carries a gun, even the woman, and it is called the “hidden carry” license. Luman and I do not carry guns, we prefer to duck and hide or run or stay careful. But too much shooting heir now even in beautiful Grand Rapids, Michigan. But the town the planners and enforcement have managed to keep the bad elements in one area and the regular people here are very Nordic and take care of their town and homes we are exceptional OCD cleaners if you get my off the cuff meanings,eh? Grand Rapids is growing becoming the brand new hospital center in the USA with all the newest equipments from Norway, etc. Amazingly it is like a small town still. I love your walkies about the Norway, they are priceless. dank.
Ok, I live in New York. The police here are Not mean. The only time they make me nervous is when they pull out behind me because I don’t want a ticket. They are generally very helpful given their high stress job. Yes they chose their profession, but imagine doing a job that an unreasonable amount of the population hates you just because...and then getting up every day and doing it anyway-knowing that you could be called to help someone or make a traffic stop and be killed just because you wear a uniform. I think I’d be an a**hole on occasion too. They are just people getting up every day to do a job I wouldn’t have the nerve to do. Plus they are generally seeing people at their worst or most stressful times and trying to help. I don’t blame them for snapping and yelling at people to step back or move or whatever, their safety is at stake too.
+Pamela Hewlett Love your reflections and story. Its so nice to hear a more neuanced and tender description of the police in NY. Thank you so much for sharing.
So here are some points I feel compelled to make, first immigration is an issue - everywhere, but especially in Europe and Sweden and to a lesser degree in Canada. Here in the US it's a slightly different problem. If counties were taking in refugees that were mothers with daughters or mothers with small children that would be something I could support. But countries, mine included are taking in majority fighting age men with no real concept of human or womans rights. Now Scandinavia (my mother was 100% Norwegian, from Norway) is supposed to be a very equal society and safe for women, yet men are being allowed entrance into Sweden and by proxy Norway that know nothing of this concept. Women and girls all over Europe and Sweden are being attacked, I make it a point to never invite someone to my home that would want to do my daughter or myself harm. So when you say if not us, who? I say our own citizens first and foremost; women and children second - and by children I mean 5 and under, not 35 and under. Also i would say, if you choose to come here know that you alone are coming. Your religion is not coming with you. We will not build you a mosque, period. No special concessions will be made, no social services no extended housing etc. That is for our citizens, when and if you become one, fine. But until then, emergency housing only. If you truly want a new, fresh, safe life then come and learn and work and build it like my granparents, mother, aunt and uncle did when they docked at Ellis Island. My mother did not speach english, there were no special classes or exceptions. It was learn or fail; she learned, and so did all the other kids and adults. If you truly want a fresh start you do what you have to to make it. Choosing a country based on the "they"re nice, we can get more from them" system implies it's not genuine, also the fact that it is the men leaving and leaving their women and daughters behind and unprotected tells me that these are not men that i would choose to invite into my country. They are not leaving because their religious rights are being oppressed. They are leaving a muslim country for a non-muslim country. Second to all those saying our police look like soldiers and are sooo mean, let me tell you - if I have a problem I want the officer that looks like Robocop coming up to save me. I don't want him to have to go back to his car and radio for permission to shoot to protect me, nor do I want him to get shot in the process - that I could not live with. But the reality of our world today - and until God comes back to claim it is terrorists and gangs. (one of the US unique problems due to our own border and immigration issues) So short of getting a Pit Bull or Rottweiler I'll take my police armed and dangerous, and I don't really care if they're mean as long as they can save me.
I dont mean to sound mean and i really enjoy your channel but this is not something that will self-correct. The problems are real and some people regardless of religion, nationality etc. see kindness as weakness, listening to my mother talk of Norway always made me want to go there and I guess I fear that by the time I get there it will no longer be the place she spoke of. I guess I just hoped Norway would be spared what the rest of us are going through. I am not unsympathetic, yes I know there are different Muslim sects, I just believe at this point a countries citizens safety and concerns need to come first, if you put a refugee, immigrant or illegal alien before your own citizen - do you really care about your own? Do women and children not matter? Are they not a part of the citizenship? Is it really an equal society if you invite the danger in then pretend the danger doesn't exist? That they are just like you and I but just need a chance, or they don't know any better? Excuses don't make things better. Excusing bad behavior doesn't change it. Changing your citizens behavior to adapt to an immigrants changes the whole society, what sense does that make? Yet our law makers and politicians have been doing this for a very long time, little by little in the hopes that we wouldn't notice until it was too late. It's late. Also I know your video was about the police, the immigration thing came from the comments. Sorry for ranting at you - I know that's not what you signed up for when you made this video. That's why I wrote this here and not in the public comments. I have a daughter personal safety is a passionate issue for me (obviously) I am genuinely sorry if I upset you or stressed you out.
You think like many also in Norway nowadays. Young foreign men act as a threat to society and women. What we must think of in Norway is that hundreds of years ago, many young, single Norwegian men traveled to the United States to find happiness. They could not inherit the farm and the countryside in Norway could not feed them. Together with young men from Italy, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, etc., they go to a country where they were sometimes taken goodbye - sometimes not. During WWII, young Norwegian men had to flee from the Nazis to Sweden, the UK or the United States. The fact that there are men who travel may also mean that there are men who become soldiers and who have to carry out violence on command. I wish more children and women who suffered came to Norway and the West. They are vulnerable and need protection. But I respect that they have other ways of living their lives. Fortunately, we do not know the fears you describe in our everyday lives. I'm glad about it. But respects that others feel different. In Norway we had a young Christian, high-rational man. For many years, plan to have a cruel terrorist action. Since he was not a Muslim, the police did not notice him. In 2011, he killed 79 people. Most children and young people on an isolated island. I think that we are basically all humans. Everyone is dreaming of a better life. I hope we get it! Anayway Pamela, thank you so much for expressing your thoughts. We appreciate it a lot!
Yes, hunting is popular. Approximately 10% of the population is registered with a hunting test. And you have to be registered to own a rifle. Most men, but it is becoming more and more popular among women too.
I haven't seen this yet, but I'd like to see how Norwegians deal with the issue of hospice and assisted suicide. I know that's not as funny and your videos are supposed to be light, but I'm curious.
And what about the issue of new aggressive wave of asylum immigrants that Scandinavians and Europeans are grappling with? The change in demographics and established culture, in a previously homogenous country? I've seen stuff about how some of these males roam and harass and attack women in the streets, control entire neighborhoods, and at venues such as concerts they grab women because they come from misogynistic, rapist cultures. How is that being handled, and are they placing any limits on immigration? What is the reaction of the locals to the added stress and expense?
Hi again Hallo IkBenWill, relevant question. Since Norway is a long country, there are big differences when it comes to winter. In the North we have no sun for two months and a lot of snow. In Olso we have sun for some hours, but it can also be very cold. Here are some videos, one about winter and the other one is made in march - also a winter month in Norway: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nApB118ofKo.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Qp5a9hXKGB4.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EIzd8pz2P68.html
YOURWAY2NORWAY I’d love to visit. I have some friends who were foreign exchange students at my school from Oslo and Hammerfest. I’m going to Copenhagen between Christmas and new year and Oslo is in the planning stages for next year!
YOURWAY2NORWAY I'm fascinated by the Norwegian socialism. Thinking about completing my Master degree in Norway as education is free for all. What your opinion it?
It is true that the Nordic countries have their own form of social democracy, mixed with capitalism. So it's probably a very interesting topic if you're not from here. I think foreign students generally enjoy themselves here so I will of course recommend you to do it. Here is a link on how to study in Norway: utdanning.no/tema/hjelp_og_veiledning/study_norway
Police in Norway need only take one "phone call" and talk to a "jurist" .. And they can/may arm themselves.. Make no joke about it. They do have guns at easy disposal. There are just more people involved in making the decision to arm up...
yes it is the same in the uk. our police are unarmed too. having friends in oslo, and how they say the police are with them '...you are ok as long as you know your place, play the game...', sorry to say that i am afraid that i have problems with this 'cozy camping-van cops' stuff...
Just heard the horrible news about the attacker armed with bow and arrow. Hopefully your country will not experience the level of violence seen in the U.S and elsewhere, which appears to have escalated since areas have "re-opened". Stay safe!
Thanks. Hope the same. The attacker here seems to have had mental struggles for many years. It's an important task for our educational and social system to identify and take care of these persons at an early age.. He had a lot of warnings from friends and family attached to him. But the health authorities did not react.
Hi ebin belji: Thanx for for engaging. I did a search at www.phs.no/en/studies/bachelor-police-studies/entrance-requirements/ Since 2001 the police acadamy dropped the requirement sayin men should be taller than 175 cms and women 165. Still you have to pass some tough (but not OLYMPIC ) tests. They put a lot weight into psycological skills alongside with physics Some entrance requirements facts from their site: As the Norwegian Police University College provides a college education, a Certificate of General Secondary Education («generell studiekompetanse») is a precondition for entrance Hold Norwegian citizenship by March 1st, the application deadline Have achieved at least the mark of 3 in the first-choice form of Norwegian at an upper secondaryschool level (average of coursework and examination score) by March 1st, the application deadline Be in good general health, including meeting the applicable standards for sight and hearing, and meet all the medical requirements for acceptance, as well as the medical requirements for a Class D driver's license Have a clean criminal record Be in generally good physical condition, be a good swimmer and pass the physical tests Be considered suitable for acceptance through evaluation by an admissions panelSuitable by: Interaction: Cooperates well with others, exhibits empathy, and has good communication skills.Openness and inclusiveness: Shows respect for others, has an inquisitive nature when facing differences, and is actively inclusive.Maturity: Comes across as reliable, engaged, and trustworthy and exhibits self-control in demanding situations.Power to act: Has a structured and decisive personality, takes responsibility, makes independent assessments and shows courage and conviction.Integrity: Is objective and impartial, has a clean criminal record and is considered fit for service.»Best, Mads
Here in the USA the police have special programs that encourage the police to interact with the people, both groups get their heart rate up with much running, boxing and wrestling. The police even have their own version of Biathlon but their is no skiing just marching and then shooting at unarmed people with all sorts of weapons. They also have nice campers called patty wagons that will take you camping for 20 years to life, the camps are called affectionately by citizens in the know, “slave labor camps” where the guests get to work for fabulous Fortune 500 companies companies in free unpaid internships earning valuable workplace skills like not daring to fail to show up for work, keeping your opinion to yourself, not unionizing and taking verbal and physical abuse. You also have the benefit as a slave laborer of being very competitive in the market place verse other workers bc you are used to working very hard for free or for very little. This also helps keep wages lower for all workers in the USA which employers really appreciate. Of course this lovely life on the slave camp is only for those that are lucky enough to make it to the camps alive if the police ever put them in an American police van.
