Also, sometimes i think ppl are just not opening their windows to air out their homes enough too. I understand dust gets in but sometimes you just need some fresh air.
That's true. You know how sometimes you can be in a store and get a smell of someone? Well I feel 9/10 times it isn't the actual person that smells. Its that you can tell they never open the windows in their home and you can smell every meal they've ever cooked on their clothes. Not to mention you can trap germs and viruses in their with you too.
I always wondered how my mom kept the kitchen smelling nice and I realized that she never let any organic food waste stay in the kitchen, she would reuse an old plastic grocery bag and just fill that with the food waste, after she was done cooking and we all finished eating, she would tie up the bag and take it outside to the garbage bin that lived outside. She even took out bathroom garbage every night before bed. Inside bins were for recyclables only 😅
What I’ve noticed way more often is nose blindness to cleaners and fragrances. So often I go into someone’s house and instant migraine from all the chemical fragrances
100% agree and she is using a bunch of fragranced products. I'd much rather go into a home that smells a little musty than one that smells like the candle aisle at Target.
@@icouldusemorecoffee Are you really asking this question?? Of course I clean my sink and trash but not like this! She uses an electric toothbrush for heaven sakes.
Get a shower head with a hose and bring the trashcan to the tub. Spray with something antibacterial, let it sit, scrub and rinse. Turn it upside down to dry. Fast, easy, and less waste.
You do not need NOBODY to teach you how to clean. I sense you are a nasty unclean person by nature. *Wish you had a mom to teach you how to clean* Girl, please! I can picture you , watching this video with your sink full of crusty dirty dishes, a mess every where and your place smelling disgusting. Get your butt up and start cleaning.
Yes!!! I keep telling my husband we need to take the trash out more but he’s all, “don’t take it out yet, it’s not full!” It stinks! With only two people, we don’t have enough trash to fill a big garbage can so things sit in there for a longer time; therefore, we need to take it out more even if it’s not full. We can’t smell it and he doesn’t seem to understand nose blindness. I’m also the only one who washes the garbage can because I know it smells. It’s plastic, plastic absorbs odors. Thank you for this! Maybe I’ll just switch out the garbage for a smaller one so we have to take it out more…I think I just solved my own problem. Thanks for reading, folks.
Yeah, I had that problem and solved it as you said, I bought a smaller trash bin and smaller bags. That way I eliminated the problem of throwing out half empty bags and wasting plastic 😊
Something else I do, because I am particularly sensitive to smells, is I have a freezer bag that I store food scraps in so that they don’t rot in the garbage bag. It helps me as a single person bc even with a smaller garbage bin I still only have to take mine out every 1.5-2 weeks.
I switched from a really large garbage can to a smaller one with a lid and that was because my friends home always smelled terrible because of her garbage. She would throw baby diapers in a garbage bag and not take it out until it was full. That is when I learned about nose blindness and to never throw dirty diapers in a regular garbage. I bought a diaper pail when I had my baby. Lol
Me and my husband go thru this every week. My schedule is Monday, Wednesday and Friday to take out garbage. Trash pickup is on Tuesday. My husband would be content with taking garbage out once a week 😮
I was taught to dry my sink too by my food tech teacher in high school, I’m now 20 and have not done it once since being taught! What’s the point of it I don’t understand 😂😭
Glad I found your channel! I was raised by an overwhelmed single mom and she didn’t know these tips let alone teach them to me! I appreciate learning how to take care of my home at 44 years old.
Not trying to be insensitive but there was a lot of time between when you were a child to your current age to learn these things and not continue to put that on your mom. She sounds like she did what she could.
My husband was looking at me crazy deep cleaning my washer and walls this weekend lol 😂. I take about 2 months every year to pick something to deep clean. Cleaning my walls and baseboards make a huge difference, especially in the kitchen.
The only thing you need to put in your drain especially in your garbage disposal is straight up ice and fresh lemons with the peel just cut it in sections all the harsh chemicals are absolutely unnecessary and are causing other issues in the household❤❤❤❤
Good idea. I don't scrub mine down like that, but I do spray with all purpose spray or a dishsoap/water spray and then wipe down. This lady is making me think I'm not doing enough.
After watching the video of you cleaning and scrubbing BEHIND and under your stove and then basically dismantling it, to deep clean it further, I seriously doubt that anyone would be greeted by an offensive scent upon entering your immaculate home. Every inch of your home would be cleaned and polished to perfection. It would smell fabulous 100% of the time. This I am certain of. 😊
Exactly. Her cleaning is a bit much for me but I still admire her, and she honestly seems so nice. Her home is also pretty, such nice aesthetic. But I highly doubt her house ever smells 😂 If anything I’d be gagging from the smell of all the cleaning products.
She has a video on how to do this?? You literally may have just saved my life. I had a mouse problem and they got behind my stove. I want to clean behind it but don’t know how!! Didn’t want to get myself into a mess I couldn’t get out of by trying myself without guidance. Off to find the video now. Thank you, Baysidelass! ❤
Something that I think would help most people is to simply open their windows more often. Fresh air and air flow is important! Of course you should clean areas that could cause strong smells as well, but stuffiness and warm air is really noticeable.
Actually she's not using a lot of cleaners. There's a cleaning channel on fb that's 100% worse than her. They use multiple (4-5) cleaners spontaneously to clean the toilet and they dump in a LOT. It hurt my nose just watching. 🤦
Too many scents is too much for my allergies. And I get a headache. I stick to the basics. Baking soda & vinegar for drains and a little bit of dawn and bleach for everything else. If I want my house to smell good, I light a candle in the evening while I'm watching tv or gaming. In the morning when come down stairs, the scent of the candle lingers in the air. Thats all my house needs. 😊
Niki! I’m not sure if you have a video like this already, but would it be possible to do a video on what cleaning products you would/wouldn’t recommend from the dollar tree/a similar budget store? I’m on a TIGHT budget right now and just moved in with my fiancé. I want to do a deep clean of the house before I move the rest of my stuff in but due to budget restrictions It’s looking like I’m going to need to get my supplies from the dollar tree/cheaper Walmart products. I would reaaaaally appreciate it!! Thank you😊😊
Hey there! Love how amazing your house looks!! I just wanted to let you know that bleach deactivates in boiling hot water! You are actually supposed to use cold with bleach believe it or not!! I never knew this myself until I started working at a daycare and they taught me that if you test bleach with cold vs hot water you will only be able to tell there was ever bleach added when its cold! One of the most useful things Ive ever learned and I had to share!!
Yes, this is from the department of health and I discovered this during a news broadcast regarding disinfecting for COVID. “Cold water should be used for dilution as hot water decomposes the active ingredient of bleach and renders it ineffective.” However, hot water and bleach were used for decades to disinfect clothes 🤷🏾♀️
Former Owner/Operator of a residential/commercial and crime scene cleaning business here. They are 100% correct. I always tell ppl to use lukewarm to cold with bleach to disinfect(soak the surface and let it sit for 10 mins before wiping) then you can use the hot water to rinse the surface. Any surface that is going to touch food/skin should be rinsed after using strong cleaners. That seems to be another thing a lot of people miss, even tho the bottles all say "rinse with potable water for food contact surfaces" or something to that nature.
You are the first person besides myself that I have ever seen scrub that icky little rubber seal on the garbage disposal! It gets absolutely filthy in just a few days. ❤
The nose blindness also applies to the strong chemical smell that comes from those products and air fresheners. When you stop using them (they are endocrine disrupters) they give you a massive headache when you're exposed again.
i love how you do these without putting others down bc Y E E S H ! it’s hard to find that sometimes; some of us are disabled, some of us are mentally ill, and if you’re me you’re both plus a whole lot more! and you just want a bit of motivation without being dragged down, so i appreciate you V E R Y much 😤
So true. I even clean my outside trash bin because it gets stinky too. Pretty sure my neighbors think I'm crazy when I'm outside cleaning it but whatever.
Exactly. Manufacturers suck people in with all of their gadgets and chemicals. This is a big part of worldwide pollution. All you need are some rags, water and vinegar, maybe some essential oils.
I dont know if this may be too much to ask but i would love for a full cleaning video!! 😅 i love watching you clean, it motivates me to keep clean my personal space and house
In a platonic way I fell in love with you a little bit when you wiped down the sink after rinsing it . I don’t think people understand how good it feels to use a clean dry fresh sink 🔥🔥🔥🔥😂
This was so satisfying!!! After watching dozens of influencers with their wasteful spending “see my £1000 Sephora haul” or “ organising my 300 lipsticks” (like have you ever considered removing yourself from PR lists, soo wasteful free or not… ) This was refreshing and educational I’ll be trying these tips myself. Thank you ❤🫶
If those videos bother you so much, you can just stop watching them. I know it seems self-explanatory, but you really commented that in an unrelated video. 🤔
For people who want to do this: you do not nearly this much soap. Or a new brush/sponge for every item. You can also just let things air dry without paper towels. Just for the record
My thoughts exactly. A large carbon footprint with all the single use products. Plus all these harsh cleansers contain a lot of chemicals that are toxic to inhale. Also none of these cleansers made by Proctor and Gamble are cruelty free. Everything they make is tested on animals. SMH
I use my old beach towels and kitchen towels and those from my mom and cut them into squares and keep them in a drawer by my sink and we use those as our "paper towels" and to wipe things down. Then they go through the wash and get used a million times. Once they are extra worn or dirty they go out into my husband's shop for work towels. No need for all this waste...
I wish❤I clean like this only for it to be back messed up hours later; the only time it stays clean is when the kiddos go on vacation😂 but you are truly an inspiration🥰
That's a lot of products (and waste) for a cleaning that could have been made with one disinfectant and one sponge. And boiling water. Why use so much ??
You can do all that using natural products like baking soda, lime or lemon juice and essential oils. Use old t shirts as rags to wipe down… no need for the harsh chemicals that you use, or to spend money on throw away items like those air fresheners and fancy sponges. Recycle-keep it natural-think of the future
I just clean it and hit it with disinfectant or bleach and a disposable rag love cleaning and keeping my trash can it's the worst spot for smells I agree😊
An invited guest comes into your home and you physically notice them turning up their nose in discuss?? I can't even imagine this has ever happened to you in your home 😂
There’s also nose blindness to harmful synthetic fragrances it mate not smell strong to you anymore but all those scented products can smell very offensive to people that are used to only natural scents or fragrance free
Your amazing. I spend $125 a week for my housekeeper to clean a different area every of my home, every time she comes. The fact you do it yourself is truly remarkable.
Hot temp water from a boiling pot is not a good practice to put down your drain. Just use the hot water from faucet the temp is not extreme enough to affect your pipes
All I do is open my windows, wipe my floors once a week, basic cleaning, do laundry once a week and a deep cleaning every month. Nose blindness is so real because I remember when I had a depressive episode and dishes, cups etc piled up in my room, i thought it was fine because I’ve been in it for months but whenever I actually left my room and stepped back in, I could smell the difference. And cleaning that shit up, really pulled me out of my slump
I rather a home smell like dogs and dirt than "clean". Too many chemicals for the environment. It's like when a smoker opens up their car door and it smells like 20 air fresheners and it's so disgusting.
Toxic cleaning products and home fragrances can be just as noxious as dirty or rotten smells. Be careful of the products that are toxic especially if you have company that is allergic and sensitive to those toxic chemicals
@@gogglespisano24 it’s enough for household disinfection if your household requires more than 80% disinfection then I would say you have a more serious problem going on there. When people have the flu and are sick you can use Lysol wipes which are more effective at killing almost all bacteria and viruses. Dumping chemicals down the drain on a regular basis harms our environment and ecosystem in more ways than I can count on my two hands. It’s not justifiable. please do the research yourself.
If you don’t have the money to buy all these products don’t underestimate the power of baking soda, dish soap and water. It makes a great multi purpose paste that you can use on almost anything, even in the fridge. Baking soda removes even the toughest of odors. ❤
Girl you motivate me to clean! I aspire to have your level of detail and energy !!!! Kids and all your house looks spotless, keep these videos coming pleaseeee!
Ha! Child, you know I got that OCD - Obsessive Cleaning Disorder! But much love to ya, appreciate the props. Yeah, these babies keep me on my toes but that dust ain't got no place in this house. Stay tuned, I got more clean-freak secrets comin' at y'all. Peace & Pine-Sol.
@@operationniki Could you please provide links to the 2 items used on and in your sink. One to protect the sink itself, which I wish the installers had told me about because I’m seeing scratches that are driving me INSANE (any tips?), and the other was what you rolled and unrolled to lay dishes or utensils for drying above the sink. Thank you 🙏🏼
Grand rising Goddess. Where do you get all your cleaning stuff from ? Am from London I was just wondering Where can I get this from ? I love watching your Videos give me so much ideas. I love your new home.It is so clean and beautiful🫶🏾. Keep up the good work and keep your head up and keep on moving 💪🏾. God bless you and your family One Love 💚💛❤️🖤.
😂 I can do the same thing with three cents vinegar & lemon and a scrub daddy (because even though it's not natural, they are truly fantastic tools)! One product verses 45$ of needless consumer consumption & waste.
Yep....chemicals and more chemicals...no thank you. Chemicals in your FOOD are stored in your fat cells. Chemicals you breathe in and touch are endocrine disruptors.
Nikki this is so true. Had the carpet cleaners come to clean the carpet. Someone came over later and said the house smelled. Something totally unrelated to the carpeting. I was so embarrassed that the carpet cleaners smelled such a foul smelling house 😞
I think it depends on the pet because some of them give off a smell more than others. & I always notice when my dog starts to give off a smell in his room compared to the rest of the house smelling normal.
Honestly this makes me emotional, I crave this so much, cleanliness and comfort in my own home. It’s beautiful, your videos really help with my anxiety too. Thank you ❤
Boiling water plus harsh chemicals on a plastic bin that isn’t designed for either of those things is just BEGGING for the plastic to corrode and break down. Please don’t do this.
