I get that this is a Spider-Man related meme, but it's actually great Willem Dafoe is the "Van Helsing" type character here after playing quote-unqoute "Nosferatu" in the underappreciated film "Shadow of the Vampire", which is a what-if take on the original Nosferatu and if original Nosferatu actor Max Shreck (Dafoe) was actually a real vampire... Pretty great flick, definitely worth checking out...

Willem Dafoe is a god-tier actor I can't think of anyone who even comes close to this lad. His performance in The Lighthouse was KINO of the highest order. Unmatched.

I think he uses the original word "vampir", which possibly derives from Hungarian or other Uralic/Slavic languages.

People should keep in mind (and till they die never forget) that there was a Holy Roman Empire which similar today connected in general not just Northern Italy/Rome with the North but also the West with the East - interface location. Thats also why you have most castles, cities, transit/traffic, industry and so on in this region plus the biggest megapolis (blue banana) as visible on the night satelite map of Europe (and some other important megapolis structures nearby). its similar with Slavic fairytale which are in reality also known in Germany (for instance the 'Striga' ('Strige' in German) which was mentioned in the Witcher - a known 'monster' in the middle age (today many Germans/Slavics forgot about that and many others)).

That one is great so I'm curious if Eggers' take on Nosferatu is completely original or his own from the original like how Herzog did back then. That said, Eggers have earned himself a great reputation from his previous films and I love his directing style so I'm hyped for this one

From my first impression of this trailer, it looks like it it will feel similar to The Witch: slow, creeping dread.

A proper horror film? I don't think so. A proper horror film scares you. There was nothing even remotely scary in the witch. My favorite one is hereditary. Scared the living crap out of me. For days after watching.

If you listen to interviews he talks about his research and all the front end work he does on his movies to keep them authentic to the source material/ inspiration and it really shows, also allows him to imbue more of his personal style into them cause they have such strong foundations

If any of these directors told me they had a new movie but I couldn't watch the trailer, I'd still buy a ticket no questions asked. Eggers is one of those directors.
