You girls were great!! Too bad I missed the live stream 😕 You should definitely watch the Ducktales reboot!! Especially if you have watched any of the old ones, like the old Ducktales or Darkwing Duck, Talespin etc, or if you were following the comics. The references are everywhere! It's also great at character development and touches on themes like found family and family bonds. It's definitely a reboot done right! I find it a bit odd that even though you spoke of Matilda the movie, you didn't say anything about the book it was based on. Have you read it? Or any other of Roal Dahl's works? Same with Harry Potter. We know about Merphy, but I wonder if Amber has read any of the Harry Potter books. Again, great video 👍 You should do something like this again.
Merphy and Alise, did either of you watch Wishbone? It was on PBS. The cute dog named Wishbone compared the current situation of his guardian Joe and his friends, Sam and David, with a story of a classic book. I would watch a reaction video of either of you watching the show. Full episodes on RU-vid: ru-vid.com/group/PLXUunJz_da3FB5YWRoDofUj707xs-Se8H&si=aOnJEde6q0pPQB7G
I absolutely loved the Land Before Time, unfortunately after I learned what happened to the girl that voiced Ducky it became too bittersweet for me to watch again
As silly as it is I'm pretty sure they were not twins but identical strangers in It Takes Two. That's right they did a parent trap ripoff a few years before the remake with actual twins and chose not to make them twins for some reason (maybe to avoid getting sued? Who knows)
Speaking of A Princess Bride...if you read the book, be prepared to waste a fair bit of time on the framing narrative. It starts out with an entire chapter of what I found to be a tedious self insert that frankly felt like it was not respecting my time. I did not get past that framing narrative; I put the book down and picked up one that an editor who understands the concept of pacing had been involved in the creation of. For those who are more familiar with the story from having seen the movie, you might enjoy it better because you know the highlights that are coming. For me...I just saw pretentious author with pretentious self insert character and ...not for me. I feel like the movie does everyone involved a huge favour by stripping the framing narrative down to grandpa reading kid a book. Even that seems unnecessary to me, but it at least doesn't have a longwinded narrative about this guy's busy career and calling used book stores to try to find the book his grandpa read to him when he was recovering from pneumonia so that he could read it to his son in all this spare time he clearly doesn't have.
The Princess Bride book framing narrative is brilliant, especially considering how many people were tricked by it and asked for the unabridged version by the fictional "S. Morgentstern"
