The fact that it has a Toys R Us commercial with the Intellivision really tugged at my nostalgia. This was around the time that my parents got an Intellivision, and I feel like they may have seen this commercial before picking one up. The same Intellivision that currently sits in my game collection of around 25 systems and 1,800 games.

Seeing that Toys R Us advert makes me think of how much I wish today's kids could see what it was like to visit one of those stores. If there can't be Toys R Us, there should be a museum for that, lol. The kids would love it. That shot of that Intellivision with Burger Time on it is a great piece of gaming history.

The 80s really were the beginning of fast food as acceptable meal fare, instead of being a once in a while a treat like it was before. Now they are on most every corner in every town. People eat there on a weekly basis now. No wonder we got so fat. 😂
@gemini6828
@gemini6828 Год назад
Yes and the fact the owners of the companies who produce a lot of the food added toxic GMO's to nearly everything from fruit to bread, High Fructose Corn Syrup or Aspertame/Sucralose to many drinks/sweet processed foods and gutted the quality of the foods that existed up until the late '80's. I grew up in the '70's and graduated in '82. You're correct. We rarely ate out but when we did, it was usually on the weekend or after my softball games in the summer. And it was usually Pizza Hut (when it was good), McDonald's or Burger King. Now days, you couldn't pay me to eat at any of these places as I know the toxins that are in these foods. Americans have gotten so fat because it was an agenda to do so through our food. Think the CEO of Monsanto or Bill Gates eats GMO FOODS? Of course not! Also compare the kids of today and their social activity norms compared to that of those of us who grew up in the '70's or 80''s. We were outside playing all day. We also ate real cane sugar, which our bodies could metabolize. HFCS/Artificial Sweeteners are foreign to our bodies, in other words, our body's can't recognize it to metabolize it. The result, it is converted to fat. It's sad we've come this far, but seriously, it didn't happen just by chance. It was an agenda. The UN's Agenda 21 to make Americans fat and sick and dumb us down starting in our public schools.
@larkatmic
@larkatmic Год назад
@@gemini6828 Yep, our whole food system is messed up. Ingredients banned in many parts of the world. Not to mention a populace today that seems mentally incapable of thinking rationally or as an individual. Its all ego and emotional groupthink today. Truth is irrelevant if it’s not my truth. What a mess. They say when you live through ego, you will suffer. Seems to be where we’re at. We’ve had it too good for way too long. Entitlement is taking us down.
@gemini6828
@gemini6828 Год назад
@@larkatmic It was all part of a much larger agenda to debase the American public and make them black color obese and sick. You seem like a very awakened individual, so I’m assuming you know about the cabal that has run everything for centuries. They’re the ones that took are decent, healthy foods from the 50s, 60s and 70s and replace them with GMO crap, along with toxic artificial sweeteners saccharin and aspartame. Most people are totally oblivious as to why the foods have changed and how this is related to the unhealthy Americans living today with all kinds of autoimmune diseases, obesity, high blood pressure, depression and on and on. I am thankful I was a kid in the 70s so I could enjoy real healthy food every day that my mom prepared. Today it’s not about quality but convenience. This was purposely manufactured by the banking cabal to put us into debt so that both parents had to go to work to survive. This is not a right versus left thing. This is in good versus evil thing. George carlin had a famous line he used to say back in the 70s and 80s. “There is a big club and you and I ain’t in it.” This cabal is going down soon! There is a military plan that’s unfolding right now behind the scenes to take down the New World order leaders worldwide. Many of these leaders have already stepped down. You will see the same thing happen here soon. After that you know what hits the fan, and things get cleaned up in this country, you’re going to see farming going back to the way it used to be or food was organic and fresh. Factory farming will no longer exist. Co-ops will be prevalent once again. People are going to learn how to grow their own foods and not be so damn lazy and rely on fast food restaurants every damn day. GMO‘s, artificial sweeteners and demineralized foods are no longer be the staple of Americans. Along with factory farming being gutted, so too will be big Pharma, the CDC, the FDA, the AMA, the WHO and The Mainstream Media. The last several years have been nothing but total lies and deceit. Look up the UNs agenda 21 and 30. I know this was a lot of information, but you seemed like an enlightened individual. Big things are coming! Here’s to your Health and peace of mind

Thanks for yet another banger collection Dave to get us through through the hump. 👍 Also the Mattel Intellivision II console shown in the Toy R' US ad at 0:32 dates these to sometime in spring to fall of 83(I turned 2 in July 83), when Mattel redesigned the system(also changed a few chips so it's not 100% compatible with the OG Intellivision) to be cheaper, and pushed hard for sales when they were being beat by Atari, and 8-bit home computers like Commodore, and Apple, but I have a soft spot for the Intellivision, as the OG model was the first game console my family had, and I loved playing Burger Time, Frog Bog, and Tron Deadly Disc on it. I still have all my OG games/manuals/controller inserts, but had to replace my Intellivision in the mid 90's when it died with a SEARS model I found at a yard sale for $5 with a bunch of games so I have a couple duplicates. Lastly if anyone is even remotely thinking of asking me, no I did not invest in the dumpster fire that was the Intellivision Amico, and Tommy Tallarico, and his cohorts IMHO deserves a rusty spiked pole up the backside for that mess!!!

@CommodoreFan64
@CommodoreFan64 Год назад
@Mike S It really was not the crash that hurt the Colecovision, but the ADAM computer add on that cost Coleco s much money to develop, then the poor sales of the ADAM addon instead of it just being a more simple stand alone computer like the Commodore ViC-20, C64, etc.. Far as the Atari 5200 a number of things hurt that console out of the gate, including the crash from poor mismanagement from Warner Communications, to the faulty non self centering analog controllers that constantly failed(I had a friend who had one of the 4 port models, and his mother was sending the controllers back under warranty every 4 - 6 months, to the point Atari corp. sent eventually sent her an apology letter, a bunch of free games, and 6 new controllers to try to wash their hands of her), and once word of those fault controllers got around to consumers, no one wanted them, and a lot of people just saw a computer like the C64 as a better option as they could use it for more than just games.
