Yes it was a sears where Burlington is it closed in 2017 I believe and sat empty for a bit till Burlington moved in

It was definitely a Sears at one time. The carpeted wing is the new wing built in the 2nd half of the 1980's with the original Thalhimer's department store now Belk.. Amazing how small the mall looks now. Last time I was there 2005 when I moved. Originally lived just north in an apartment complex off of Greenridge Road then moved shortly after when I purchased a condo downtown. Used to go to a barbershop in the mall as it is near the base and a lot of military in the area and the main driver for me to move downtown. North Charleston wasn't working for me, not the lifestyle or anything else. Northwoods, while not a dead mall, just a fairly low end mall but it seems to cater to the local community and the limited income in the surrounding areas. There used to be a good record store to where I bought a lot of CD's way back, an Eckerd Drugs and other useful stores. I don't remember so many junk food places. If I was still in the area, it would be Dillards on occasion, which would be the only appealing store for my taste. Great shots and thanks for the memories. It is doubtful that I will ever return to Charleston.

The Gloria Jean's is shutting down, but it was there for 30 years. This mall used to always be PACKED before Christmas!

Nice looking mall, I like the fact that it is not a straight through corridor. I like the different wings that branch off. I appreciate you taking the time to get a directory shot, it came out really well on the video.

I'm glad to see Northwoods documented here! I'm a Charleston local and have done several videos of abandoned locations I have come across. I have intended to film here but I just haven't had the time. I'll have to do so at some point and hope security leaves me be. Great video!

Grew up in this mall. I remember when there was a Woolworth, Burger King, and Taco Bell. Lots of awesome memories, for sure, back in the 80s/90s. Actually worked at Joe Muggs for a year in 2002, but haven't been back much since. Glad it's not a dead mall, as it would really make me sad if it closed.

I think a lot of stores have changed opening procedures since COVID because of staffing issues that have occurred since 2020. A lot of stores in my area and our mall has really strange hours now and I've noticed a lot of stores will just close for the day when ever they feel like it where as you never saw that precovid.

second time seeing this mall although loads less people due to the mall just opening up and it still looks beautiful honestly puts a smile on my face to see successful mall. I saw 4 vacancies one being a kiosk, the supreme place was called supreme burger and also great video!

am seiously suprised NWM is still doing good as ever some stores i remember is 2:35 that paris store used to be a Stride Rite 3:29 that game stop used to be Babbage's 4:25 the perfume shop Was at one time Electronics Botuique 5:45 that indeed was a sears and was from the day the mall opened infact where the Bahama breeze sits at the entrance today was a huge auto repair center that had the same brick style being Charleston is thriving im sure this mall should do good for decades

Burlington 100% was a sears. I remember a few years back when it got converted.

All malls aren't dying. There are some in the Charlotte area that are thriving too, while others are struggling. I heard Northlake Mall is 30 % vacant now. If they didn't have an Apple store, they would be really be sinking. Concord Mills is packed tight every weekend

I'm so happy you covered Northwoods! I've always wanted to take a virtual tour of this mall. You may be the first RU-vidr to film the entire mall, as for some reason this place seems to get skipped over often in the retail world. Thank you for walking through the food court as well. Most RU-vidrs and mall bloggers seem to always skim through them or omit them altogether. Great video and thank you! I do wish you could've shown the Crab Du Jour that's at the front entrance beside the food court though.

That random Coke machine next to the H&M is about where the new wing was added. Is there no stop light mall entrance/exit on Rivers Avenue?
