Is this a safe space? Okay cool. I don’t do those ACV/Baking Soda soaks to deep clean my locs. Every 6-8 months I deep clean my locs by soaking them in Dawn (about 1/4 cup). I figure if it was aight for the lil oil covered ducks 🦆 then it’s aight for the keratin cells coming out of my head. I make sure the water is almost boiling to help aid breaking down any build up that’s happened since my last deep clean.
I’ve tried the ACV/Baking Soda soaks in the past but they’re usually not strong enough to break down the build up that happens from pollen, working out, traveling, and generally existing.
I know it’s time to do a deep clean when my hair feels “heavy” to me. Even as it’s gotten longer, it usually doesn’t feel heavy unless it’s holding things that don’t belong. Anyway, I hope this helps!
