My eagle eyed followers will have noticed that I haven’t been active on social media for the past few weeks, this is because I have been in hospital with a spinal injury. The Dr’s are saying 13 weeks recovery but God willing I will be up and driving sooner than that.
Please look after yourselves and don’t take your health for granted

Yianni, I totally understand everything you have gone through. I manage prolapsed discs in my L4/L5/S1 region on a daily basis and have had a fully slipped disc twice before from exactly the same reason as you, long distance driving. Having been told i needed surgery and being utterly terrified, i got a second opinion by a Spencer Harland at the Spire in Solihull and was advised Not to have surgery at the age of 31 but have intense physio therapy to build the strength up in that region and support the vertebrae. From 3 times a week im now down to 1 session every 3 weeks of mobilisation/massage/traction and other than an occasional twinge in my leg if im tired im as normal as i could be. Its a long road with the rehab so i cannot emphasise just how important having a good, regular physio is with back problems like you have endured. Hang in there man and GTFO those Tramadol asap! 👍

Brutal mate get well soon! Backs are no joke, I woke up with a normal stiff neck one morning, went to work and within an hour i couldn't move my neck at all, complete seized up and massive pain, shoulders, upper back, neck, arms even the back of my head all absolutely throbbing. somehow managed to drive home without being able to look left or right when pulling out. 5 osteopath sessions later and I could get back to it, 2 weeks of pain and all it was was some dodgy scar tissue from an old injury I didn't even know I had had teared by my shoulder blade. That was the day I realised that man, if a muscle can do that to me imagine what a spinal injury would do! get well soon, health is wealth indeed!

Yianni, I had 20 years of this pain with 3 prolapsed discs. Best thing I did was increase core strength to support the lower spine. Everyone's ailment is different though and I'm sure you'll get a top notch physio for recovery (and them film it all!) Best of luck!

Hey Yian I can relate to you 100%. 5 years ago I went through a period where I was going through exactly what you are and the doctors and hospital wouldn’t help me. I had this excruciating pain in my lower back and leg and for months they just said I had sciatica, even though I know it was something much worse and nobody would listen to me. I couldn’t walk, move, shower, put my socks on or get dressed etc. Everytime I moved, I was screaming from the pain. After months of fighting with the health services, they finally decided to scan me and they found a tumour trapped under my nerves in my spine. They finally gave me a 10 hour surgery to remove the tumour and thank god it was benign and to this day, I’m ok. I had no family history of this kind of thing and I’m fit and healthy too. I can also relate to the scan asI felt exactly the same and it did feel like I was buried alive. It will take time, but stay strong and positive. Get better soon. Michael 🙏🏻

Get well soon, I was in a similar situation at he young age of 27, I went from being sporty and active, taking it all for granted, until one day I tore knee ligament, I couldn't run, couldn't walk, couldn't drive, couldn't even bend my leg, I went from someone who was very active to someone considering if they will even be able to work again. The physical issue was hard but the mental toll was always worse

I had this exact thing happen to me. I was a serving member of the army. Post tour in Afghanistan. Had a bit of a blast whilst over there and put my back out. My L5/S1 disk and 6 others exploded. Now I couldn’t move. Not even an inch. Anyway manned through for a week. Then it brought me to tears. Can’t sleep, can’t go toilet properly. And it’s when the doc at the med center said have you had a bowel movement I said no it takes me about half hour to even dribble piss. He said you need an operation you’ll end up poisoned from the inside. So anyway I had a long 7 hour operation and they replaced 2 and micro dissected the other 4 disks. I swear on my own life. I just remember the relief. I had a external exoskeleton on for 6 weeks couldn’t drive or walk without an aid. But yeah best decision I ever made was accepting the surgery. I don’t care what anyone says if you’ve not been through disk issues. When those disks go and your nerves are pinched. Your body just shuts down. By the sounds of it Yian has got lucky. He can still get up although a painful struggle. But brother heed this warning. If you slip or miss a step and burst your disk. You will wish death on yourself. It will be 100 X your current pain. Please be careful and go steady. Get acupuncture, DO NOT get cortisol injections. My grandad had those. They work for few weeks then fade and pain returns. Don’t do physio straight away. That’s a risk. Your not too bad but your at that dangerous stage of swelling that it could burst. But then just get surgery. Anyway that’s my experience and through that experience. That’s my knowledge and advice. Hope you get well soon.

Hi Yanni i hope you get better soon i had seemer thing has you had which is called Sciatica which is very painful it took me 4 weeks to get back to normal so in that 4 week i did ligth Exercise if you can do this - Lie down on hard floor, grab under your knee, and pull your knee up to your chest as much as you can. Hold for 10 seconds. Keeping your leg tight to the body, straighten your knee as much as you can. Hold for 10 seconds. If you need more of a stretch, pull your toe down toward yourself. Repeat these steps on the other side. all the best Yanni

Fella, I have had 3 back ops around L3-L5. I was in the same position for the third op and was on crutches. Was and still on some of those drugs but the best pain relief is a bag of frozen peas. once the cold gets in deep, it all contracts and the relief is magical. I know exactly how you are feeling mentally and i was told 12-14 weeks recovery but each time was 8 weeks. chin up fella. it gets easier…

Exactly a year ago this month I woke up on morning with the worst pain I ever had on my left side of my left shoulder blade. During the day for two weeks the pain would move down my left shoulder down to my forearm and into my chest with spadams all over. and my index pointer and middle finger were numb and tingling. Couldn't sleep and moving around was torture. Pain finally went away after a couple weeks but I lost 90% of the strength on my left side. Turned out I had a pinched nerve in my c6c7. Took 8 months to get strength back and today a year later I am. finally 100%. Not sure what your exact problem is but nerves and spine is no joke. Takes time. But I feel you when you say horrible pain. I never felt pain like that.

Hi! I have a Lumbar disc herniation (i think thats what he means at 12:10 with exploded) between my L4 and L5 since i was 15. Its very close to your spot and i have big troubles with my left leg aswell. (Ichias nerve gets clamped in the spinal canal, thats whats up. This nerve runs down the left leg, im sure that had you "down" aswell ) It wont go away fully ever, but an operation is the worst thing you can do. What happens is, the disc bulges out forward and clamps the neve - they would cut off the bulging oit part, simple as that. Most often, after those operations the remaining scar would take the discs place, plessing on the nerve and you only lost money. Hospitals only want to make money. It takes alot of therapy and training tho. It can be incredibly painful indeed but.. man up yianny xD if you can get into your car get into your car man.

@matthewprice9416 11 месяцев назад
Had the same thing with my Dad, GP and doctors both put it down to muscle problems and said they wouldn’t do anything or give an MRI unless it was life threatening or he could no longer move. Eventually we kept pushing and eventually managed to get a doctor that finally recognised the severity of the situation and sent him for immediate MRI and they got the results immediately there and then. He was rushed into emergency surgery to have 2 disks fused. The doctors said if they hadn’t have done the surgery then he would have ended up with a colonoscopy bag. Fortunately after rehabilitation he was able to walk again, though still has no feeling in the bottom of one of his feet as he ended up with nerve damage due to the disk leaking into the ecorda equina Unfortunately because the doctors are so stretched you will often get pushed out of the door as soon as possible without even doing any scans and they will treat you as low priority even though back issues can have severe consequences. So anyone in the same situation please keep pushing and don’t be afraid to ask for second opinion.
