The defendant helped the plaintiff move some belongings into storage while she was in California. However, the plaintiff says the defendant put the storage unit in her name and is now demanding money to get access to her stuff, so the plaintiff is suing for stolen property. The defendant claims she saved the plaintiff's belongings from being auctioned off for nonpayment, so she stepped in to help. The defendant is countersuing for the money she spent on the storage unit.

The defendant is a scammer. She definately locked the plaintiff out of the online account. She got HRA to pay for the unit, under the guise it was hers, and she was going to sell that woman's stuff. If I were the plaintiff, I would call HRA.

I personally do not think she looked 😞 defeated.. it appears to me that she doesn’t have a conscious. Look at her she doesn’t appear to feel phased by her conduct she feel entitled to the things in the storage ( remember she wanted to make a profit in order to make a profit you would have to put in the least amount of money down on the storage unit. In this case she put in $490.00 and she had the mitigated gall to sue the lady for $1500. For her own property.. and to top it off she lied to make it appear that the money HRA put in was from her bank account.. that why JM asked her to produce 🧾🧾🧾🧾 from her bank account to prove that she paid the storage fees. She is the kind of scammer who will look for anngles in a ⭕️ to wiggle their way out of their lies. But people who creat Ponzi schemes to extract money out of people always get caught in a web 🕸️🕸️ of lies. Now remember she did this to her friends who gave her a place to stay when she was homeless.. and this is how she repaid them.. why couldn’t she have said I’ll help you out like you helped me when I was homeless.. isn’t that what friends do for each other they look out for each other in times of need.. how pathetic.😫 American Greed is one of the most powerful show created check out those episodes. This lady has nothing on those scammers.

So, HRA paid $1600 of the $2.1k storage bills and the defendant only paid $490. The only way HRA paid any money is because the defendant LIED and told them that the items in storage were her items, not someone else's. It was a double scam. She defrauded HRA and the plaintiff. As soon as she told the judge "I was trying to make a profit" I knew she couldn't be trusted. I will bet a 6-piece chicken dinner that the plaintiff later found items missing.

Sounds like an opportunistic move.. thanks for the clarification.. Harvey said she only paid 490 bucks of the storage unit. I see how she tried to gain control of the unit because her valuables are more than likely are more valuable..but to lie and and try to sue for 2100.00 for the unit is outrageous and then lie that she paid ( HRA portion plus the 490.00 ) is insane she thought she was slick but she did not know that the lady knew that HRA made the payments. So to me she was compelled to say she wanted to make a profit off of the storage unit. She wasn’t being honest by letting her true intentions be known this it was her slick way of getting the judge off of her back. Nor did she call her to let her know she said she abandoned her things. He behavior is despicable because these are the people who gave her a place to stay. So she decided to use the storage unit as leverage. I thought it was unusual for her to pay for a storage unit when she had no place to stay she inserted herself into a situation that wasn’t any of her business 😮

@markgiles6568 I think you should re-watch the episode. The plaintiff only paid for July/August. Every month there after was paid for fraudulently by either an agency or scammed check. Remember, there was an issue with one of the checks the defendant claimed she paid. BTW the defendant was a piece of 💩. Nevertheless, the plaintiff received access and got her belongings back without paying any additional money. That's why it's weird, in my opinion.
@markgiles6568
@markgiles6568 5 месяцев назад
@@nicolesmith583 the defendant took the plaintiff off the account, which she couldn’t get access into the storage unit. So the judge ordered the defendant to take her name off the account so the plaintiff could now pay and/or get her stuff and/or put in another lawsuit if things are missing! Because the defendant said she was just going to sell it. Neither party won. The defendant was just trying to keep the plaintiff stuff and also counter sue for 2,000 when she herself didn’t even pay for the storage unit. The plaintiff couldn’t get any money because she don’t know if all her stuff is in the unit or not to say it’s gone. So that’s a lawsuit for another day. Yes, the plaintiff only paid for 2 months. Yes, the defendant was writing bad checks and lying under oath. But she also took the plaintiff name off the unit to gain access. The plaintiff never got her stuff until after the verdict.

As a storage manager if a person comes in its put in there name ID has to match the rental. We dont put anyone else as primary. Alot of ppl come in no ID or whatever the reason . Judge is right if it goes in lien status and is auctioned off ( California) after 3 to 4 months of non payments it can affect your credit. We tell ppl this all the time. And we ask are the items your storing yours! Most say yes. So legally its whoever the primary is.

The plaintiff just wanted the money at this point. She didn’t expect the judge to resolve it.

I don’t believe this started as an outright scam on the defendants part to gain the property of the plaintiff for profit I feel sure as many of these cases this started to go downhill from lack of communication and or miscommunication that led to bad feelings Happy the plaintiff will ultimately get her possessions back

That’s how I feel. She only wanted to make a profit AFTER the girl was about to lose her stuff. Maybe she took the girl name off, maybe she didn’t but the girl should have went to the place in person. It’s a two month span with no payment. She knew what was at risk.

lol I bet she lied about the DV (if anything, probably was the one doing it), and I bet she already picked out the good stuff from the storage unit. Why would she pay for the unit for months, while not selling things already? It would have made no sense.

The judge was being SO patient and lenient with the defendant who K N E W she was lying about paying those bills versus the HRA. And she got SUPER lucky, because if the judge had delved into the true story more, the defendant would have ended up getting torn apart by the judge. Not only restricted the plaintiff's access to her stuff hoping to make a buck, and all while HRA picked up tab. Outrageous.

I mean of course the defendant would have a right to sell the stuff if the plaintiff had actually abandoned her stuff. She literally lied and said she paid $2,100 for the plaintiff. Yet when the judge kept asking her for proof from a bank statement she said she didn't have it & didn't have online banking. She was lying, she only paid $400 something it was confirmed at the end. Government assistance paid the rest. The defendant's plan the entire time was to lock the plaintiff out of the account, make it look like she abandoned the stuff so she could sell it.
