Obama's content oscillates between the realest shit and playing anime waifu horse gacha games in a way that's reminiscent of the pendulum of a grandfather clock.
Sometimes it's both, at the same time. Come for Bama getting deep into FGO Arcade, stay for lamenting how arcades aren't as bustling as they are due to the changing times.
That's why he is the goat. He took and offline casual event to formulate a discussion about how the community can use different types of events to move the scene in a more diverse way, meanwhile the rest of the fgc youtubers are like: IS AKI BROKEN?
With every character release I get more and more tired of the “(New character) IS BROKEN!!!” videos. It’s literally every time, regardless of the character or game
Parents of that age (including my own) just have this kneejerk reaction to anything animated and just assume by default they're more childish than anything that's live-action. I understand your pain.
"Not everything is for you." On the opposite end: "Not everything is for everyone." Sometimes people screw up a good thing cuz they try appealing to people who never gave a damn in the 1st place. Which alienates the people who were with you from day 1.
You say that but, I still gave it a try! Ultimately decided the game was for other people, and that's fine! Still gonna talk shit but I know I'm not the target audience
Man, I completely relate to that KOTH/90day comparison with you and your mom. As a zoomer, I find it funny how reverse elitist/gatekeeping has become. I watch unpopular 90s/00's animes but I don't force it on one of my friend circles who watch FOTM/popular shounens. I don't look down upon them at all for their taste, but I wish I could say they do the same for me, haha. When they voluntarily try my anime choices, they accuse me of trying to be pretentious. Meanwhile they get irrationally offended when I express that I'm not interested in Demon Slayer or current anime season's romance. Sometimes I want to bring up how nerds used to gatekeep hard over this shit and they're lucky I'm not being annoying about it because I enjoy hanging out with them lol
It's the same with me and Jiu Jutsu Kaisen. It's maybe the middest thing I've ever seen and every time I express that to my friends they tell me to keep trying it anyways.
@@chronosanaki5174 if you want some 90s weirdness I can recommend a couple shows despite not being the person you're asking for >Key the Metal Idol (12 eps show about a girl that needs to become an idol in a year to live) >Five Star Stories (1 hour sci-fi movie about a very girly God-Emperor of Mankind and a sweet golden mecha) >Getter Robo Armageddon (again, mecha but this one is the kind to turn off your brain and see cool stuff) >Dominion Tank Police (world is a fuck and crime is so insane that cops need literal tanks - trust me this is one show you'll want the english dub of) >Gunsmith Cats (just two girls in chicago being bounty hunters, gives 80s action movie energy with a lot of guns and car chases despite being 3 episodes) Hope any of these are of your liking, check a trailer or two if curious. If you want something completely different and older, Versailles no Bara is excellent but aimed at the girlies in the crowd.
@@chronosanaki5174 Gotta give me some info on your end; what have you already watched and liked, how obscure, what genre? If you're looking for a general intro/start, I'd say maybe Yoshitoshi ABe's work is probably a safe bet; heads up that most of them are pretty psychological. You can probably start with Niea_7, a great slice of life with no annoying moe or childlike tropes, then move onto Haibane Renmei, Lain (where we start to tread the high-brow scale), Texhnolyze... I've personally been on an adventuring crave recently, so Kino No Tabi (Kino's Journey) is a good pick, Mushishi too (but I personally found it a bit too slow). And maybe it's not 100% anime but Oban Star Racers is a great first time if you didn't grow up with it like me. Other solid choices that represent their time if you're just plain new; Sailor Moon/Cardcaptor Sakura, Trigun, Spice and Wolf, Lucky Star/Haruhi, Madoka... but all those are already on the somewhat known side, with reboots on the way for half of them... give me more on what you're experienced on and what you're looking for if you need more.
bro i cant the ominous music of that elden ring dungeon playing as obama describes himself as he who takes things apart to see how they tick. gold. thanks for putting me on that 60 day fiance thing, its a blast.
Lifting your head out of the trough as the gruel drips off your chin, you look to the side to a stranger, you say "wipe that off your chin you look like an animal", you go back to eating your favourite brand of garbage.
What you said about hoping people just show up to an event is very real! I organized a very low stakes casual tournament at my community college’s 24 HR LAN Party. I wouldn’t consider myself as a tournament organizer did it for the love of the games and community, with hope somebody showed up. I was incredibly happy with the turnout because I was honestly was expecting no one to show up. I was just happy people came to play!
Honestly, yeah. I suppose that overtime, learning that "people will enjoy weird shit and so will you, and so sometimes you gotta just let things rock". Also that ending is 10/10
The turn out for the Waka vs Fox thing was pretty good. There were a lot of people I have never seen at a tournament. However, it was a lot of people I'll never see again too. You knew why they showed up.
It is what it is right? My thing now is if it results in +1 person who signs up for something buys a game or watches streams from now on, even if I think its corny or whatever, it's worth it
@@doogies 1000%. This was proof that show matches, exhibitions, invitationals, celebrity tournaments are good for the growth of casual viewership/participation. Waka vs Fox 2 when? tbh
one mental fusion me and my mom had was watching The Game on BET me n my brother and mom liked a lot of old shows together like Sanford and Son, Hogans Heroes, etc, but The Game was a completely independent fusion where it was like trash but we both watched it not knowing the other watched it at all
Yo I feel this. I got curious a bit and then i had to take a step back because they used to be wholesome but now they thrive off of drama the entire time and I tried to see if it got better but it just gets worse as the stories go. like can you imagine if there was an FGC edition of 90 day fiance?! but on the real King of the Hill is goated and i love your content. keep it up bro!
knew someone who liked 90 day fiancee and as soon as i saw 1 episode i knew it was a show that i just gotta sit down and not saying anything about shit really does make you want to look into someone who likes it cuz how does someone take that shit seriously lmao you really do just have to take in the fact that not everything is for you, kinda learning this with new fgs and games in general
I want a poster of that promo image from the beginning, that shit goes *hard* Ugh my mom keeps watching Bill Mahr and I’m like, “get with the program mom, he’s a bitter old man”
It's the same thing with me and Souls games. I genuinely dislike these games and think they are boring and unfun. However, have fun explaining that opinion to anyone currently in the gaming space.
Yoooooo. 90 day used to be my shit. Havent watched in a few years. King of the Hill is great too. You and your mom are one collision on a sidewalk away from Reese’s peanut butter cups level of greatness.
This happened with Smash and Storm my friends love them but I hate moves being locked behind reading joystick tilts in this age of constant Joystick drift shit
wow. king of the hill is actually very well written(i probably know a little too much about the series). but the 90 day shows do nothing but contribute to the destruction of the country. dont forget that TLC used to stand for "The Learning Channel" before it started broadcasting brain cancer. the old saying "cast a wide net" is applicable, trying new things helps personal growth. but watching more then 30 seconds of that shit would have caused permanent damage.
I lowkey used to rock with DARE growing up. Still did drugs but that’s beside the point. I at least had the sense, because of DARE, to know they were bad and looking back on those dope days, they were right.
I get someone not liking KOTH, but saying it's trash?😂 Humor was really clever and it would generally touch interesting topics (first episode iirc was about how parents provide sexual education to their kids?? lol), so I would never just disregard it that way.
I’ve noticed that dumb people think a show featuring dumb characters or people is automatically dumb. It’s like they have to self insert 100% of the time or something. Maybe it hits too close to home lol
