Not For Rent | Deepavali 2023 

It gave me continuous goosebumps throughout the video. Sadly this is happening around us everyday. I'm a chinese living in the same house for 30+yrs and i have an indian neighbour to my left and malay neighbour to my right. Guess what...we are proud to stay together and none wanted to move. Don't judge a book by it's cover and learn to love and understand each other.

This message is not for those house owners, it is actually an eye opener to those Indians tenants out there who set bad examples which eventually reflects badly on other indian tenants. Only when those culprits stop being a bad/difficult/dirty/noisy and unruly tenants, this mindset can be totally erased. Bravo to Taylor's college team members. Looking forward for the next awareness video on parking cars vertically infornt of house blocking half of the road and causing inconvenience to others. TQ👌🏼👍🏻🤩

Sadly what I see here is, Indian are portrayed as low income people who are not capable even to buy a low cost house. And the Chinese are portrayed as landlords who are in the position of choosing who to give. Such video sooner or later will plant a colonisation mentality. Hope Indians are aware of this situation. And take this as positive video to break through the barriers to reach more success, no matter how the discrimination is being given. We should excel, and we are!

Genuine message...but not all are lucky enough to have a happy ending as portrayed in the second half...

I teared up watching this and I personally can relate. Just bcoz I'm Indian , many rejected...once me and wife called almost 30 agent's , only 1 accepted but i have to produce my pay slips 😅. Some ready to meet us just because my name is Alex but when they saw us , immediately increased the rental so that we won't take the house. Glad all these experiences make us to be a better human being. Thank you for such a good story.

I’m a actually working on a machine learning model to avoid racism in renting, due to a personal experience of mine. These property agents and owners that support racism indirectly will face stiff competition when renting out. Like speedhome, made it mandatory to not have a racism policy in renting, landlords are desperate for tenants and if anti racism is pushed , they will succumb. Don’t give racism a place to prosper. Also to the landlords: vet your tenants in a different way, not just by them mentioning they are indian.

I had faced the same issue ,almost 10 agents said the owner only prefer malay or chinese tenants only...,but lastly got a house for rent about rm1900 permonth,,,chinese owner im glad she gave to rent out her house.Futhermore i pay my rent upfront always zero pending,, and before I shift out from the place i will say thank you for believe in me and im gonna say not all indians are the same #breakstreotype 😢😢😢 hope in another 1year i can buy my own house❤..

I’ve rented a chinese owned house.. my sister too.. We left the house after many years.. and i did so much to repair the house.. painted, add awning, renew piping system, left my air conditioners, washed the house.. The owner messaged me, with incredibly thanking me to look after the house much better than her.. ahahah.. We do care house like our heaven.. clean and clear

I know even Indians don't want to rent to Indians.. True story. I did my national service. Rent to 3 Indian girls who study in college.

I been thru in this situation 7 years ago. 😢 Luckily an Indian guy gave me house to rent, never fail to pay him rent on time and other bills as well. with God grace I have bought my own house now. 😊

A legislation should be enacted to penalize homeowners engaging in discriminatory practices based on race when renting out their properties. Eligibility criteria for tenants should encompass all factors except race and religion. Implementing substantial penalties will serve as a deterrent, ultimately leading to the eradication of this issue.

Heartwarming... But in reality the story would have ended when the property agent, Ms Amy saw him. She would have likely said, "here got no toddy shop, please leave or I call the police!" And eventually Mr Chandran will have to move to some place with the unwanted and marginalised of society...or pay double what other, more desirable ethnicities would have to pay. Good Ad, unrealistic ending.

Overly dramatized😂 Im indian and been renting out house/condos around klang valley for more than 20 years now. Never once i rented out any of my properties to indians. Not even chinese. Mostly malay and foreign nationals. Its nothing to do with race. Its personal preference. Whom i feel i am more confortable to deal with. Need to be fair to property owners in this matter. Also in d end of day its still a matter of demand & supply. However d fellow in tis video should have a big deepavali party after he buy his own house not in rented property. Lame story. But very good acting skills.

As a Chinese-Malaysian, I am ashamed of my fellow Chinese-Malaysians who are racist like this. And yes, I know, I said "Chinese-Malaysian" instead of the more common-in-Malaysia "Malaysian Chinese" - because I'm using Chinese as and adjective, and Malaysian as the noun, rather than vice-versa. I am Malaysian. I happen to have Chinese ancestry (well, mostly - got Peranakan blood which means I probably have some Malay in my ancestry.)

im a home owner tht always give chance to viewings with an open mind. tht being said, my experiences always lead me to bias with indians when they come view, they always show up with a sense of self-entitlement..come view complain so much and want argue about rent price already.. 1st impression already so bad how to rent to them? other races come into the viewing with some respect and not argue about rent. if this is not u i apologise in advance but its just my experience so far
