Kate has recently (prior to the first episode) split up with Tim, as he had an affair with a lady named Emma, who was 23 years old. Kate and Lee (Kate's lodger and Tim’s best friend) cease every opportunity to not only remind Tim of this, but also to highlight how much younger she was than him in a not so sensitive way.
