The newly unveiled King's portrait which hangs in The Philip Mould Gallery has been defaced by protesters from the vegan campaign group Animal Rising, using large Wallace and Gromit stickers to cover the Monarch's face.
Alistair Stewart, spokesman for Animal Rising explains the sticker of Wallace, a character from the animated comedy series, was used because it is one of King Charles' favourite cartoon characters.
He told Julia: "The reason why Animal Rising supporters put this poster on this painting is that King Charles is the royal patron of the RSPCA."
Julia Hartley-Brewer argues that whilst no damage was done to the painting, other activists have caused damage. She says: "These are stunts to get attention for your cause."

@@wolfhugs2221 well one because I’m not part of an animal cruelty group as I was referring to, whereas these people are. Whilst I find it important, I believe there are other things facing our country and world that take priority right now. And two, there actually already was a big campaign around this previously. I believe The Green Party used to support it but now they seem to have dropped it.

They didn't really vandalise anything. I don't disagree with what he wants to achieve, animals shouldn't suffer. He was respectful in this interview. I'm not a huge meat eater, but I probably won't stop. But fair play to him, I wish him well with his goals.

The thing is, I usually HATE these groups. However, this is the first time I have empathised with a group and had my mind shifted. He came on, had a reasonable discussion, exposed FACT based evidence on some horrible practices, and has not broken the law. Fair play to this group. I love animals as much as the next guy, and it is nice having a group that I can listen to without thinking that they are a group of hypocritical, privileged idiots.

Exactly, most people on an average diet struggle to get their required nutrients so when people handicap themselves further amass in terms of vitamin intakes... This is unfortunately the outcome many people will get.

There's no universal vegan diet. It's funny how you couldn't mention the nutrient(s) you were supposedly deficient in. If you were struggling, why didn't you download Cronometer to track macros, micros, and vitamins? And there's also brands like Huel offering nutritionally complete vegan products. Being vegan is easier than ever.

Vitamin B-12. Red meat is the only abundant and readily available source for this crucial nutrient. Therefore, by definition, we must consume red meat to be healthy. There are synthetic products available but the body doesn't have the same affinity for them. And, as was stated, our alimentary canals from teeth to digestion are adapted to consuming and digesting meat.

In the wild, life for an animal can be very unpleasant - ones that are weak (e.g. runts, old or ill) would be killed by other predators and that death will often be very painful! Survival itself is often on a knife-edge. So, let's not play the game of "happy animals in the wild". What farmers could aim to do is provide an environment where the life of an animal is, "on average", at least as "good" as it would be if that animal lived in the wild (which is becoming less and less possible, anyway). That way animal liberationists wouldn't be able to argue about poor farm animal welfare. But, to be honest, I don't think that is what they are really campaigning about anyway - they simply don't like us eating animals! That means there is no farming framework for animals in which they would be happy.
