That GreatDane was one of the first standers, if not possibly the actual first one ever made. GreatDane, Everride, and Gravely all had the same mower with different paint and decals. John Deere also had a machine that was nearly identical. It just had a different deck. I owned the gravely version of that very machine TQ was driving. The first generation Gravely ProStance 2352FL. 23 horse with a 52" floating cutting deck. Mine had a suspension platform where the GreatDane had a solid mounted platform. I bought it at the beginning of 2021 and it needed a bunch of work which I was able to get done before spring came around. I ended up having to sell it due to horrible back issues and also having to move and at the time, I had no where to store the mower. Even with it being old, I believe it was a 2007 vintage, it worked amazingly. That wide stance held hills that some of these modern standers can't. It was also insanely fast. The manual said it would go 9.2 mph forward and 4 mph in reverse. There is probably faster on the market now but for the first time ever operating a stander, I was a tad bit scared after pushing those controls fully forward. I will miss that machine. Hopefully I can get another one some day.

You guys are having some beautiful weather as we just got about 5 inches of snow overnight. I'm jealous of the weather. Hopefully spring is right around the corner so we can get back to cutting some grass! And I wish everyone would take your advice, some people are rude and shame people for being a small business and not having a big company. Everyone has to start somewhere! And that property looks like a good place to build, it's so hard to find anything when it comes to real-estate so I think that's a good find. And again, congrats on 100k!

That property is beautiful! Bit worrisome that it is the low point in the area…drainage, flooding, etc. with greater amounts of snow/rain and removing natural drainage by building and paving. It is dry now, but if large areas built on and paved over, that could change. Oh, and loved seeing Santa greeting us from behind the bush…I don’t feel so bad when I’m delayed getting things put away 😁

Shawn, thank for that. When I first started in business and business management, I found myself becoming frustrated because things weren't getting done the way I did it. I was successful the way I did it. I expected someone else to step in and be successful doing my way. Long story short, look at all the I's. What a completely humbling experience. Be kind to others, support them, and sometimes commiserate with them. I am glad that you and TQ might have found a perfect place for you. Super surfer started around 2001-02 I had a 1998-99 Surfer (fixed deck) 61 it was a great mower! Sold it with around 2,500 hours on it.

As far as you business group, you're right. The reason I watch you is because you're an encourager. You and TQ lift up people and I believe that is why you'll succeed. I'm not a landscaper but I'm stuck on your channel. You're a hard worker. Heck you even motivate this old guy. We can see your heart and keep spreading positivity. That'll win in the long run.

I don’t know about that 18 acres. Looks low to me, it looks like places I seen many times when we had cattle. But what ever you do make sure you get the building elevated higher than the surrounding ground by a couple feet just because shit happen

I have a cousin I help mow with sometimes and he has a Great Dane sit on zero turn I use. It’s still a good cutting machine. I used to use one of the surfers at a local farmers coop, when I worked there, to do the grounds with. Man that was a blast from the past.

I had an everride Scorpion which was the same company but a different branch. 2007 model and beat on it for 2 years before my ZK. They can do some serious work. Kinda odd to get used to but if by another just to have it.

I started with a 97/98 great Dane chariot Jr. Back in 2017. Great starting mower fixed it up and ran for a few years. Deere sold to gravely in like 2006-7.

40 years in the biz and I remember the old days , Dane Scag is probably responsible for most of all the innovations that we now use , you could do a history lesson on him very fascinating life story

I love the logic as a business owner, what you’re doing isn’t special. Landscaping is very common, the equipment is similar ext. How you do it is what makes you special and that’s what gets you clients and keeps them.

We still run 5 Great Dane super surfers daily. Many have a couple thousand hours. Easiest most simple mower ever made to work on. Everyone looked at us sideways in the 90s and every 00s. Now they are the norm.

I find it helps to take the time to record the receipt before putting it in the box. Then at the end of the year I just compare the receipts to the spreadsheet to confirm I have them all and I am ready to do the calcs.

FIRST OFF I want want to say that You, TQ, And just your family in general is what makes me still have hope in people. With that being said you guys are a big inspiration for me. Second thing is, I'm no business man what so ever nor do I think I have great ideas. But... I want to say that if you are actually considering that location for the amount of acreage there is you can build your house, shop, Place of business, but if you wanted to you can "sell"/ "lease" land to spencer storage and you can build another storage facility. In the case you build a home This is not ideal but if you go the way of just a place of business it may be something to consider. I love you guys as a channel as always keep Mowin, Keep growin, and keep makin money.

Excellent comment about supporting other with the company. Everyone has their expectations in the direction they want their company to develop. You are correct the percentage of small companies with success is very low. I'm currently closing my company of 31 years I have some of my equipment out on lease and I have sold others pieces of equipment. Yes everyone has an opinion how you should run your company. I myself enjoy to see other reach the goals they want for their family and company. I have found in all my years of business ask and do your research. Set goals and go after them. I've watch you and TQ grow since you first bought the crew cab b4 you put the plow on it. But like you say "Keep mowing keep growing" keep up the good job with your business and your social media 👍

I love how you say its gotta be old and reference the 90s. It's all relative folks. You say old to me, and I think 1930s and 40s vintage. You say a few years ago to me, and I immediately think 1970s. On a serious note, with the creek running through there, I suggest you check out where the flood plain is.

I appreciate this as I am a full electric lawn service and get laugh at all the time unfortunately getting off the ground is hard with electric I have to really prove myself and equipment to customers as most don’t believe in electric. I wanted to try to do something new and change to electric but we are trying to figure out to stay electric or go back to a hybrid system and change the name as the response has not been successful.
