Not Sardar Jokes| Stand-Up Comedy by Vikramjit Singh 

Hey guys! For good or for bad, I’ve dealt with stereotypes that come with being a sikh. But it’s not just Sikhs, everyone faces stereotypes: communities that look different, women, fat people, tall people, good-looking people, ugly people. EVERYONE. And they all go about dealing with them in their own way. My way, is to talk about them(sometimes, even use them) and share a few laughs. Would love to hear your own stories in the comments below. Sikhs have the biggest hearts.. Apart from jokes they can do much better things also... Like KHALSA AID,, SIKH REGIMENT,, LANGARS,, DONATIONS.. ETC ETC... #respect

The Club thing, where 10 people, who you don't know, want to dance bhangra with you, happened with me too! But you make peace with it after enough time has passed. Worst is when you are the only sardar in a place like Germany, where people havent seen a Sardar before. It feels creepy, walking down an alley and people staring at you! You can feel that gaze! I guess that is how girls might feel! You are so right when you say, "We need our own form of feminism!". I think accepting humans the way they are, is a huge challenge this world faces right now!

Perfect slap on faces of those who typecast Sikhs, you did it very well but I wasn't able to laugh even for once. I think those will not laugh who understand your comedy exactly. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK :-)

I think these things are more commonly felt by Sikhs living outside Sikh-dominated communities. I've lived the live and have encountered most of these things. Great observations! 👏

So so relatable! Especially the clubbing part! I haven't traveled much apart from India, and have been staying in South India for the last 8 years. Honestly, sometimes a few people do look at us in a creepy way (in metro or malls) down here but over time you realize that they're just looking at you out of curiosity. So I just start talking to them, or tell them hi and they let off a smile. I guess that gesture kills the angry North Indian stereotype in an instant and garners some respect. :)

Sikhs are very brave, and straight forward people. They will not cheat or manipulate or let any one down just to have an upper hand. They are honest. I had many Sardarji friends in central school long time back. Each was honest and always a true friend.

Sir I have subscribed just because you remind me of all my sardar friends. And I do have a lot of them. And one in particular who goes abroad every 2-3 months for his company and brings a good brand of scotch for us and he himself does'nt even touch beer. And like all my sardar friends he has an amazing sense of humour. You people really know how to live life. Hats off man.

Right ..People think that the occurence of proper sardars only take place in Punjab ....bt they don't know that other states also have proper sardars....Infact in Punjab all the sikhs are not proper sardars they r punjabis...Nd I live in Jammu nd I think majority of proper sikhs are in Jammu....nd whenever I go out of state nd when I have conversation with anyone People asked me R u from Punjab?? Haha love ur comedy brother. M a panjabi khan from pakistan. Met few sardars in peshawer , hassen abdal and in uae good people u r. But brother i have a question to all sardars y u get stunned if some one else speaks in punjabi or u speak urdu nd i answer u in punjabi. Every sardar i have dealt with 5,7in my life all wait for b4answering me that how come he knows punjabi lol. Brother my mother language is urdu but i was born n bread in punjab pakistan layyalpur ,lahore ,faisalabad where ppl still speak the right form of punjabi hahaha every other city of pak have different accents of punjabi but ours is similar to punjabi movies made in india brother. Thats y i always smile speaking up to u guys cos m also the same one like u gave example of oyester. Now my English is finished brother changa rabb rakha. Sikhs and Sardars aren't the same. Not every sardar is a sikh. Any so called sardar who is an alcoholic, eats meat stuff and participate in partying etc isn't a sikh. The ones who run khalsa aid, the ones who went down as martyrs, the ones who live their lives around the principles of sri guru granth sahib ji are sikhs. It's not right to label every sardar as a sikh.
